Amazing spot ! Very affordable for the place!Huge garden, huuuge bed, the decor is super cute and welcoming, the owner and the staff are super nice, food is great (and local, which is perfect!). There’s amazing outdoor spaces to just relax and have a drink, or a nap! I highly recommend!!

There are no words to describe this wonderful piece of paradise ! I stayed here for one month and absolutely enjoyed every second. Juliet, the manager, tries to do everything she can to make her guests happy. The food is gorgeous (I had breakfast and dinner), because the chefs are just genius and loveable. The garden including a pool table and a cute little bar with great cocktails is a perfect place to relax. Even the dorms and the bathrooms are very comfortable and clean. If I could, I would give a 15 star review. I have no single complaint. This is the best hostel, I have ever visited. By far !

A true home away from your home!!This place felt like a second home in Tanzania! The house (its rather a proper house than a hostel) is beautiful with many common areas to relax, play billiard, board games and food is all homemade and delicious. Big comfortable beds and very quiet at night. The perfect stay before and after your safari in Arusha!

One of the best hostels Ive been to! Had such a good stay at White House, I actually came back to stay after going on my safari. All the staff are so nice and welcoming, they have free breakfast, and offer dinner or lunch for $3. The food was ALWAYS delicious and something different everyday. The only thing is that youre not allowed to cook like you usually do in a hostel, but this is because they have their own chefs who cook delicious food so thats fair enough :) just dont go out and buy groceries if you intend to cook.I stayed in 2 different rooms and both were spacious enough to store your luggage and had hot water, the rooms were cleaned everyday and everything was very well maintained. The beds are also very comfortable.There is also the cutest house dog, so if you dont like dogs then theyre happy to leave him in a room during your stay, but hes so friendly how can anyone not like him!Its also very close to the centre, you can take a local bus for 400 shillings or the hostel also offer transportation. They also organise tours aswell so theres no need to book anything in advance if you cant find a tour company.Overall I had a great stay and it really feels like home, and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a stay in Arusha!

Im not sure if I should call it a hostel, a home or a resort. I spent 1 week here in Aug 21 and I have no words to describe how beautiful the place is and how jovial the people here are.Julieth, John, Rich, Amy, Baltazar, Laiza and the royal canine Alby. Time flies so quick around them. The food is next level. People from across the globe, the vibes, the bar, the garden, the dorms, everything here is so beautiful.I have stayed at many good hostels but this is the one Ill always rare to go back to.The place was close to half of my experience in Tanzania.Special thanks to Julieth. Do not take the risk of going there, this is my advice to you.I waited over three hours to get the room I had reserved, and I was kicked out in the middle of the night!No respect for barrier gestures, lamentable condition of the rooms, the bathrooms in an unsanitary condition.run away from this hostel, trust me!

Not quite the backpacker hostel I was expecting... Super personal, friendly people- staff and guests as well as simple but great rooms- comfy beds and good nets. Felt more like a home stay than a hostel.Really managed to relax here (slowish internet helps ;) ) and could definitely see myself just hanging out here for a couple of weeks with nothing but a pile of books, chilling in the hammock.

Junior and his family made me truly feel at home in Arusha. The hostel has such a good atmosphere, very relaxed, and it looks beautiful as well with all the paintings and the lovely backyard. Fun activities as bonfire and movie nights are organized for all guests. Besides, fresh cooked meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are served and are delicious. Very much recommended! I hope to come back here very soon.

This place is so lovely, everyone is really friendly and the way its laid out is great for socialising. All the bedrooms are set around the bar/ courtyard/ eating / lounge space. The staff are friendly and very relaxed, and 3 meals a day included, we only had breakfast and dinner and both were great. One dinner was lentils which was great for my vegetarian friend and the another was a meat stew, rice and spinach. The showers are eally clean, and hot (though I preferred the cold showers). The big night out of the week is Thursday at Via Via and we had a few drinks and drinking games with Jackson and Junior before getting taxis. I would have given a 5 if it was a little closer to town, but I would still stay again as taxis are easy to get and cheap.

A short and brief stay at The White House and immediately felt at home with such kind hospitality and good home cooked food. The hostel itself is very open and guest are invited to join the family over dinner and can chat to the other guest sharing stories or advice about their Safaris or other adventures in Tanzania. The rooms themselves are comfortable and there are electrical points that you can use to recharge your electrical devices. Overall had a very enjoyable time there.

Super friendly, clean and heart-warming place. Junior helped us with everything we needed and on the last evening weve had the most delicious BBQ! Highly recommended if you want to chill in a relaxed atmosphere and/or want to find other travellers to meet up for a Safari

Junior and Jackson create a convivial environment that fosters connection and convenience. Having the option of eating there all three meals definitely increases the value. It is a bit out of town but there is a great community vibe and is easy to walk to the center of town or call a cab. Hot showers. WiFi. Beer. They’ll put together bonfires in their beautiful backyard if the group requests which was an incredibly nice way to spend an evening.

Do not go there. Our rooms were already booked by others, the girl from reception just smile and give us the alternativeto wait until the others will come back....This Hostel is far, very far from center, and the roads are like a war zone.

We had a wonderful stay at the White house. It was in a good location and just a short walk (15 minutes) to the town and markets. Delicious meals were incuded of authentic East african cuisine.Most of all I enjoyed my stay because Junior and Johnston are great host. They made us feel safe and welcome and went above and beyond to make our stay one to remember. Arusha wouldnt of been the same without the fun days and nights spent with the lovely bunch of people we met at The White House.Cant wait to come back again!

Stayed here on my first night in Arusha and a night after taking a safari as well. This being my first time travelling so far from home somewhere so different I was slightly scared and quite homesick. This place was like a breath of fresh air, a home away from home. Everyone was super friendly and the home cooked meals were very tasty. They were also able to accommodate my vegan diet which was much appreciated. Wifi was slow but I wasnt expecting much.. it is Africa after all! The beds were a good size and comfortable and the bathrooms were very clean! Would definitely stay here again should I visit the area in the future! Asante sana White House team!! :)

Gorgeous environment inside and out. Stay and volunteer with fellow International guests. But dont forget to go out in town and get lost by yourself!

Arusha can be intimidating, but not if you stay here. Junior, Johnson, and Mama take great care of you - making you feel like family. The hostel is within walking distance of town, but still in a neighborhood community that is really heartwarming. No matter what you want to do, they will help you figure it out! Also, their English is really impressive - a real relief if you have been travelling through Africa extensively! Also Mama is a great cook - ask for chipsi mayai if you are hung over :)

What do you hate in a place with excellent Wi-Fi and very protective of their guests? Absolutely nothing to hate. I love it so much. Junior and his family are a great team.

Amazing hostel! If you want to meet other travellers and have a super nice hostel with a bar, many chilling areas, a beautiful garden, the white house of tanzania is the right choice. The manager Junior is a super nice and competent guy who can organize every trip and excursion for you for a cheap price. We did a wonderful safari for a really cheap price without having to organize anything as Junior did everything. I would definitely recommend this hostel!

The best Hostel of Arusha! :) I experienced the stay as very nice, the rooms and the hostel are very clean (almost not a hostel). Julie is a very nice host who is always there for you (trips, tips or help). The food is very tasty & you can easily make contacts but also just do your own thing. A must for everyone!

The hotel is like a family home here, and we were immediately greeted with warmth. Julieth is attentive to the needs of each one as well as all the personnel.The meals are inexpensive and they are unlimited. You can also use the fridge to store your own food.Lunch takes place in the morning until 10 am and if you want to get up later it is still possible to have a plate (just a little less generous).The cooks also adapt to each others outings and the hours are flexible.It is possible to have dormitory rooms as private for a couple.The premises are always clean thanks to the staff and if something is missing, our request is taken into account for the next day.Thank you to the staff and to Julieth who is more than a host but a friend during the stay.

Unfortunately this is not a hostel but a guesthouse!My stay was 2 weeks.Far too long, unfortunately.- Unfriendly host and staff who are hardly interested in the visitors.- no towels and rarely toilet paper in the toilets.- Power failures and no water for toilets and showers despite the presence of a generator and water tank- no courtesy or apology- no guests allowed- No volume allowed after around 9 p.m.- Breakfast very poor compared to others. 5 minutes late for breakfast. Bad luck.- Dinner is sold for 10,000 chillings mostly as cheap local food that you can get for 3000 chillings on every corner.If you stir even a piece of the food you pay 10,000.- If you store food or drinks in the refrigerator, it may be missing the next day.- Cooking is not allowed.- Beverage prices overpricedBetter to book in another guesthouse or hostel !!!

After 2 weeks spent in this white house I feel at home. As soon as we arrived on the scene, Julieth (the manager) received us very well, telling us the places not to miss in Arusha. She is very available and does not hesitate to take her personal car to bring us to an ATM without charge. The house is clean, the garden is immaculate, the staff are helpful and smiley. It is possible to find Dala-Dala 5 minutes walk from the White house to reach the city center of Arusha. When it comes to meals, cooks adapt to diets. Personally vegetarian, I had no problem eating my fill. Especially since it is possible to refill several times. Honestly I have nothing to reproach with this place which knew how to make that better my vacation in Tanzania. THANK YOU

Juliette and Juniors hostel is more of a home than a hostel! We would stay for months without realizing it, it feels so good there !!! I loved this place and will definitely go back !!

It was a pleasant stay. Although the area is not very trustworthy and you should see that you are in the hostel before sunset, but the hostel itself made a safe impression. There was delicious food, the owner was sympathetic and the prices are cheap. The courtyard and the garden gave a very nice ambience.

Lovely Hostel, best so far in my 5 months here in East Africa. It is exactly how a hostel should be. Not too big, super hipster and ma and two sons run the tent great. Good to relax (garden, communal area), delicious dinner and breakfast, warm and helpful staff whether at the front desk or in the kitchen. Quiet, not quite centrally located in Arusha, but the core of the city can be reached in about 20 minutes on foot.

Horrible management, the bosses are overseas and leave the hotel to someone who is completely overwhelmed by anything. Horrible place
