Grassroots is very professional and service minded Company. I had a great experience working with them. My travel request to Zanzibar was processed very quickly and they had many good suggestions that fitted my budget. They were good i followups to make sure I was satisfied. I recommend them at any time.

Taib was an awesome guide on the Stone Town tour! Well worth the $ and we could have talked with him about Zanzibar history for hours. We also booked transfers from the airport to Nungwi and from Nungwi to Stone Town and Taib and Omar were great drivers. It was easy to book and pay online which is convenient because so much of Tanzania is cash only!

My trip was planned over a year ago. Things took a turn for the worse once I decided to book directly with a company because Grassroots could not provide the service I requested. Services listed in my itinerary were not provided and I was advised that I did not ask for the services. One would think if you’re planning a trip and list the services in the final itinerary that it would be provided! The staff is also very rude and defensive. They accept no blame. The tour guide on the other hand was great (he’s not employed by Grassroots directly). If you’re a seasoned Traveller due the leg work and book tours on your own. I don’t recommend this company at all. I’m also due a refund that I’ll probably never see.

The tours are a bit more expensive than when you organize them with the touts and fisherman, but it was organized really well! My guide knew a lot about the city. Haji was really nice and fun. I had a great time with them!

My husband and I had a great time on the Foodie Walk. We crossed the medina making several stops to taste the local specialties. Special mention to the guides who brought a touch of history to each stop, it was a great time. To learn the history of zanzibar gastronomy while being able to taste the various specialties, it was just top !!Otherwise, the team was available, answered all our questions and arranged our transfers when we needed them. Special mention for the pocket wifi put at our disposal. The rates were more than adequate and actually we were reachable everywhere and anytime! its a luxury when youre on vacation !!
