Very nice shops in the middle of Stonetown. The products are fair and 100% produced in Tanzania. Good expirience and shopping feeling in the stores. Maybe a little more expensive then others, but the spices are absolutly awesome. We bought half the stock and love to cook with them. Next visit a must.

Led to this beautiful building after a brush with the small holder farm in Pemba- fate (and more realistically, a string of weird timing issues- all the 1001 stores in town were closed for renovations) led us to ring the doorbell of the corporate office. We were lucky to meet Sid and Rafael, who ushered us into their beautiful once-part-of-the-palace office (by night airbnb), and we were treated to a wonderful and enlightening exchange of interest in spices (as well as securing some of the 1001 spice stock!). Well worth the fateful ring of that doorbell, and thank you again to Sid and Rafael for accommodating the two well wishers and pemba spice farm fans they met at their doorstep.

These spices made the perfect gift for my family and friends back home. I bought whole chilis, peppercorn, and cinnamon (sticks and ground)—each spice was beautifully packaged and fragrant. I appreciate the authenticity of 1001 Organic products and the thoughtfulness that goes into each and every package. Would recommend to anyone looking to share true tastes of Zanzibar.
