I highly recommend ZanCars! First of all, thanks to the excellent customer service that responded very quickly and nicely for every messege via e-mail or whats up. We hired a car (Suzuki Escudo) for 4 days. The car was clean, reliable and pleasent to driving around Zanzibar. The price was also good comaring to other comanies. They have an attracive option to pick up and return the car from anywhere in Zanzibar which was very importan for us.

Best customer service.I rented a RAV4 with ZanCars for 10 days. I changed the date, the location and they react fast and very customer friendly. Pick up and drop off the car was really well organized. No useless paperwork. Only one thing I was not so happy with, the tires where really old and were looking terrible. To start with, Zancars are the perfect choice. Good car, great price, fantastic service and more.When abroad, I always like to rent a car or bike to explore. After being a passenger through Stone Town I was a little hesitant about whether renting a car would be a good idea. But I wanted to explore and taxis here arent cheap. If you want to explore, renting a car is far cheaper and gives you all the freedom you need.Some advice for you. Drive slowly and very carefully. Potholes are everywhere, speed bumps are everywhere else. Pay attention to vehicles behind you that will want to overtake with less room than they would at home. Let them pass you! Watch for scooters and bikes to your left. Country roads are mostly pretty easy, around Zanzibar City at rush hour is pretty hectic...You may here about corrupt police pulling some drivers over. This happened twice in the North, but not in the south. It is nothing to worry about. The first officer that pulled us over was actually very very friendly, asked where we were going, gave some driving advice, and then asked if we wanted to make a small donation. We gave a small token. We were pulled over later that day and accused of speeding. Just call Zancars immediately and they will sort out for you. Make sure you have the right paperwork. Zancars will sort this - your drivers licence and the local permit. Then you have nothing to worry about.Zancars were faultless. The car was great, the price was great. They delivered to our hotel on time as requested, and collected back from the hotel for just $15. No hassle, no attempts to say I had damaged the car in any way (which is always a worry - though do always take pictures on collection to protect yourself). It was a great experience. I thoroughly recommend Zancars.

Perfect experience with ZanCars: very good prices (30 USD per day for a Suzuki Escudo 5 doors), very easy contact before departure for booking the car, very easy contact on site, car - clean and in good condition - available exact time desired at our hotel in Stone Town, cash payment on site in the currency of our choice, all papers in order (including our 3 local permits at 10 USD), and they were also waiting for us on time for the return of the car to the other hotel in Stone Town (we were a little late). For the rest, they are available in case of problem, but we had none. Only one police check over the 11 days, which went very well and only lasted 1 minute as all the papers were in order. In short, I recommend 100% ZanCars Rentals! By the way, I take this opportunity to confirm that renting a car in Zanzibar is really a good idea if you want to be independent on the spot, and is ultimately cheaper than accumulating taxi transfers; driving there is easy and even fun with a small 4x4 like that to reach certain beaches or restaurants).

I rented a car for 4 days. I contacted by WhatsApp and agreed on the timing and price. No prepayment was taken. They settled in the wrong hotel, said - no problem. The car was at the appointed time. The documents are completed.The police stopped and checked 2 times - no problem.The same driver came to pick up. I was very worried about forgetting things.The car itself is in good condition, clean, only the chassis knocked on bad roads.

The boys have the shop under control. I got a jeep for 14 days in 2016 and 02.2020 for 10 days. Everything went through WhatsApp. They will give you a letter stating what is sufficient in connection with your EU driving license at check. You do not need an international drivers license. I had control. Wasnt a problem. The only drawback, with the tank filling they give you you can still get to the gas station. The vehicles are all GPS monitored and they always know where you are. They bring the car wherever you want and when you want, the cars are not the newest and the steering is a little sloppy. But no wonder with the streets.
