We greatly enjoyed our stay here with Nicole and her team. The bungalows are well equipped and elegantly laid out among gardens, a pool and beach walk to the open-air restaurant area. Great food and a wide range of drinks, nice soundtrack to set the mood at different times of day. A nice concept and a lovely place to stay.

We came here for the food which was delicious, we had rice noodles and lasagne. We were amazed how good look the surroundings of the restaurant/accommodation and stayed for little while in pool area. Everyone here greets you with hospitality, definitely a place to visit again.

My partner and I stayed at the Baladin for 14 nights in Feb 2022, from arrival to departure our experience was 1st class. The hotels accommodation is very traditional with the Zanzibar style. There are 8 bungalows and 4 suites. We stayed in a Bungalow (Bawa, meaning Wings). They are really well designed and very comfortable. The main bedroom is located on the upper floor and there are a further 2 single beds on the ground floor. Each bungalow has everything you could possibly want during your stay. The front porch of the bungalows have two day beds where one can relax in the shade.The facilities are absolutely wonderful, making our stay just what the doctor ordered, complete relaxation. The swimming pool whilst not large is a great way to cool off and watch the sea rolling onto the white sands of the beach.Relaxation is the name of the game at the Baladin, the well kept grounds have a variety of different seating. Swinging sun beds, single seat swings and plenty of sun beds are located under the shade of the palm trees. Every corner of Baladin you could see that they have made an effort to the attention to detail to make the guests experience spectacular!Nicole & Rasheed the owners along with the staff were so friendly and made sure we were having a good time throughout our stay. We enjoyed the breakfast which was served from À la carte menu, we loved the freshly made juices that were different every morning and variety of fresh fruits! The lunch time special are well worth a visit to the restaurant or have them delivered to your room.The evening menu, was plentiful, something for all tastes, fresh catch of the day, pizzas and a variety of other very good dishes.The beers are also worth a mention, Italian craft ales (Baladin) of different strengths and tastes were available to sample, being there for 14 nights I tried them all and can honestly say that it was worth the effort.I would highly recommend the Baladin for your stay in Zanzibar, we will certainly be returning in the very near future.

We ate in two days in a row and came back on the third day for some cocktails and a game of pool. No one was using the table but we were told we had to pay $5 as well as our drinks or buy some food to use it. Sadly the manager sent a member of staff rather than himself to tell us.

We did a 3 week trip to Tanzania/ Zanzibar with a lot of accomodations and finished it with a 2 day stay at the amazing Baladin.First of al the accomodations are very very clean. We loved the view, the personell and also the food. The prices are also good in compare to the good quality.Everything was taken care of. The owners Nicole and Rachid are very kind and helpfull. They helped me with the PCR test and also didnt make problems to stay at the pool after checkout because we had a late flight.Throughout Zanzibar this is the best place where you can stay if you just want to enjoy a very nice and cozy accomodation.Planning to visit again in the future!

Just stopped for a very good ice tea and to leave my stuff to go for some good snorkeling. As expected, slightly pricey but chill atmosphere, good music, good location.

MUST GO!!! This resort literally was the best Ive stayed at! Nicole & her husband, made sure our stay was wonderful! From the wonderful villa to beautiful views from the beach. The restaurant food is amazing! The curry chicken was our favorite. The staff is LITERALLY THE SWEETEST! Nicole helped my boyfriend organize this beautiful surprise brunch and did such an amazing job. Their excursions are so much fun, they organized a sundown boat tour for us to go to a beach party at Kae Beach, they played some afro beats and reggae music. We loved it. I cant wait to go back! ❤️❤️❤️

We’ve came to Baladin for lunch and had not only great food but also amazing views and a super nice host Abdul!Food was really good and we could enjoy draft beer and a bottle of wine.Not the cheapest place but we are super happy to pay for good food/drinks/service.Great place!

This place is a gem. The staff is amazing and friendly. Nicole the general manager and her husband Rashid are very welcoming. Everything is beautifully designed. Liked everything about Baladin it was my perfect getaway. 🥰

We did not stay at the hotel but went to the restaurant once. The pizza was the best we had so far in Zanzibar, thin, crispy, and delicious home made tomato base. Iced coffee had mango ice cream on top, an unexpected but lovely combo. Unfortunately they did not have most of the special beers from the menu, maybe because of difficulty getting them from Italy.

They have really good Baladin soda. The place is chic. But the staff is really slow: it took more than half an hour to receive the soda, not to tell you how much we waited for the food. The restaurant was not full, only few tables. Our waitress let us decide what we want and after that, when we requested pizza she told us that the only think they are serving is on the Main course page. Actually they were also serving pasta and we also saw things that werent listed on the menu (burgers), but she didnt botter to tell us. The food is good but nothing extraordinary and definitely not worth the price.

This is a dream hotel! Especially for people who like it nice and quiet. I stayed there for about a week and it was one of the best weeks in my life! There arent many people therefore the beach is empty!!! This hotel has a bar and a restaurant and their food is incredible! Also the staff is really helpful and friendly! They have a very clean pool with a view on the sea which is just magical! They also offer snorkeling trips, we did one and the sea life we saw was wonderful! There are plenty of starfish!I really dont have anything to complain about it was just perfect! Regarding the sea I recommend you to take water shoes and to wach on the tide times. When the tide is out its impossible to go swimming because it goes so far out. While its out you can explore the seas ground which is quite exciting! Another thing you can do is take a walk along the beach, there arent many people so its quite wild.Last but not least they have a really cute dog!

Not a high rate, sorry to admit it.+ hotel is small, quite nice bungalows, nice beach, authentic, rooms clean. Ok to stay 2-3 days- relaxed management. Booked directly, was offered complimentary 2 massages.When arrived, nobody recall about it, never mentioned, never offered. Seems like the main purpose is to sell accommodation, after that no one worries about client ).Breakfast. Bad surprise inspite of good reviews. Relatively fresh pastry was offered ONCE during our week staying. Other days - it is a shame to offer such yesterday’s awful breads. Pancakes are terrible. Managed to cook porridge once upon request (could not eat omelet anymore) but refused to repeat the other day.Could not buy coconuts at the restaurant during the whole week. Waiter’s answer “the guy who gets coconuts is off”.Asked for pasta at 17:00, got the waiter’’s answer “go and talk with chef-cook, then he will agree to cook it for you”. 🤷‍♀️Asked to put a few avocado pieces for omlet - the answer “no avocado” (it was avocado on omllet for manager and his guests )).Plastic on the beach stayed where it was when we arrived.- the food in restaurant was always unstable. Got good curry once, but it was simply awful another time, with rice seated on air for a long time, so it was dried and tasted bad.AC in bungalow is set on the place, that prevents to cool upper floor. It may be hot then.The whole impression - management is weak, way too relaxed, cook feels free what to make and what not to make, food is prepared depending on mood or whatsoever of cook’s team. It can be good, can be awful - unprofessional attitude is the key to what we experienced.Would I suggest? 1-2 days to see that part of Zanzibar. Not longer. Would not stay there again because the place is still quite isolated and poor restaurant with very limited menu was annoying.

We stayed in baladin for 8 days for our honeymoon. And it was the most amazing place we stayed in. The vibes were amazing and spotless and all the staff were very friendly and smiling all the time and cant forget the lovely owners rasheed and Nicole they helped us alot during our stay and they are very friendly and helpful they even helped us with alot of information around zanzibar and also there food was exquisite and cant forget there artisan beer very tasty. Thanks you so much for everything it was a vacation I wont forget. ❤❤❤ and for sure would love to go back.

Wonderful resort and some of the best service I have ever had. The whole staff got to know us during our stay and make you feel at home. There is many cool seating areas around the beach and pool and a nice restaurant. The beach is beautiful...but not the best swimming beach. There is lots of rocks in most areas. There is a cool sandbar that goes out into the water. Rooms are nice, like the outdoor bathroom. No AC in the rooms, but air moves through pretty good with the doors and windows. Would definitely stay here again! Also, short walk down the beach to The Rock which is a popular restaurant on an island in the water.

Absolutely LOVED the hotel and wish we stayed there for our whole trip rather than splitting it with nungwi. you can walk for ages in either direction on the beach (bring reef shoes if you want to wander around in low tide); easy access to upendo, the rock, paje etc. excellent staff, good menu, wonderful bungalows - could not have asked for more. there are tons of loungers, sun beds etc to chill by the beach. pure bliss and highly recommend!

The rooms are always clean and perfectly done.What amazed me the most is the attention to details that I usually miss in seminar beach destinations, the property is run just like a private home.The pool has an awesome view over the beach.Great food as well, freshly prepared and you can eat whenever you wish, the kitchen is always open.

First of all service was impeccable and consistent. From answering all our questions and mails very promptly to the staff being willing and ready serve our every need. From the hosts to the cleaning team to the waiters everyone was friendly and helpful.The WiFi was available in our rooms and at the pool area which is a great plus.The rooms were really neat and properly cleaned everyday.The views from our room were spectacular. We could see the beach from the moment we woke up.The rooms were spacious and the bathroom was well equipped. With two basins, shower and bath. Which was a bonus. The room was also air conditioned which was a great plus for the really hot days.Most days we had a slight breeze which made the heat very bearable.The restaurant area was very nice and very neat always. It was always nice coming back to Baladin after visiting other hotels and restaurants. It just always felt like coming back home which was amazing for us. We really wanted a comfortable safe, beautiful and boutique experience and that is what they afforded us. The management is very engaged with the guests which is wonderful. The food was very consistent and the kitchen had a nice Italian flair mixed into what they made. The dishes were always filling yet flavorful. They had a decent selection of wines which I was happy about as well as a few of their in house craft beer options.They spoke among themselves fluent: German, Swiss-German (this was fantastic because my wife is Swiss), Italian, French, Arabian and perfect English. It is safe to say that communication was very straightforward.We went on a few excursions but were happy to to just stay at baladin most of the time because it was so relaxing and peaceful.The pool area and tanning beds were great as well. You have options of tanning by the pool side of its views of the ocean or on these really nice swing beds if you just want to relax and read. There were always fresh towels and the pool was always kept in impeccable condition by Juma.In summary it’s very clean, very professional, pretty scenery, very friendly, very sincere, great place to relax and good value for money. Their prices are actually pretty low for the high level of service.

We spent five wonderful days at Baladin this June. After the long drive from the airport, arriving to the big open restaurant area and looking out to the ocean was just what the doctor ordered. The staff was incredibly friendly and had us relax with a drink while they brought our bags to our home away from home. We stayed in one of the eight beautiful villas, each equipped with two single beds downstairs and a queen upstairs as well as a beautiful bathroom, a wonderful coffee maker, and a personal porch. The detail and dedication that went into planning the villas and the resort are visible. Having strolled along the beach, we knew Baladin was miles above the rest. While there, we enjoyed sunrise yoga and many naps on the sun loungers and swing beds. The staff organized a trip to another hotel for a massage because their masseuse was on holiday. I was distraught when we left, especially to be leaving the adorable puppy guard dogs that will become your best buds during your stay.We ate at the resort restaurant for almost all of our meals. Breakfast was incredible each day with fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and eggs. Lunch and dinner do not vary much, and I struggled with variety due to my gluten allergy / celiac disease. I always travel with my own pasta and granola just in case and the kitchen was more than happy to cook the pasta with some delicious pesto for me. However, I would recommend that they import some gluten free products incase others do not come as prepared and add allergy information to the menu. Nevertheless, we absolutely loved our time and would go back in a heartbeat!

We really loved it here. Swiss efficiency on a Zanzibar beach. They obviously pay extra to hire staff with language skills (and have naturally happy attitudes.) You genuinely feel welcome. Amazing Italian beers and really good food. Infinity pool is spotlessly clean. The beach, like most in Zanzibar is not great for wading (coral and sea urchins) but you can find some sandy spots if you wear water shoes. Its a class act all the way.

The rooms are really nice and so is the landscaping of the property. This hotel has been open for only 3 months to date (4/2018). The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The atmosphere is peaceful and breathtaking at the sametime. We had an excellent waiter named Daniel. Please ask for him, he’ s a waiter in the restaurant. You will receive the best service if he’s waiting your table.We are very pleased with our stay at Baladin. You too should consider this amazing hotel for your next stay in Zanzibar. Ps. We stayed for seven nights and are very happy with our stay. The place is relatively new so some teething problems but they didnt distract at all from the great experience we had. The owners are very welcoming and go out of their way to make sure everything is ok. The restaurant is very good and not over priced compared to some others in the area

Great and clean bungalows with a good bed, thoughtfully built (local materials) with everything you need, a most beautyful spot. Wonderful hosts, who are always available to fulfill your wishes! Talk to them in english, french, arab, german, swiss german or italian and order a Baladin beer - a beer to discover. And then relax... :-)

Nice hotem in front of Michanvi beach in Zanzibar. Rooms type Bungalow, 2 floors in front of the infinity pool next to the sea. Clean rooms, open bathroom, 24h service, safety locker, coffee and tea. Good restaurant, only one beer brand providers. Pizza is amazing.

Amazing spot walking distance to the Rock restaurant on a quiet stretch of beach. Staff were all excellent and management were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this to stay in while in zanzibar.
