Beautiful boutique hotel right on Kiwengwa beach! Guests have access to a private beach area with sun loungers. There is a seaside restaurant with spectacular views as well as a second floor dinner dining room with panoramic views over the sea. The decor combines Swahili traditional architecture and contemporary chic design elements. Most of the rooms are found in a two storey building behind the main building and surrounded by trees and flowers. Each room has a nice private terrace. There is also a pool with loungers next to the spa area. The team is very friendly and helped us have a wonderful stay! IWe only wish we could have stayed longer!
A little paradise at Kiwengwa Beach. I stayed for about a week with my friends and we enjoyed every minute. This little hotel won our hearts. If you like the quiet and cozy, with authentic, local designs enhancing the history and local flavor of Zanzibar. It is the place to go. Thank you to Caroline and Grace, we had the perfect holiday. I came here with a group of college friends as part of our spring break. Right away at the airport we were greeted by the Ali, who helped with our bags and brought us directly to Mvuvi Boutique Resort. The staff at the resort were very kind to organize trips around the island for us, which truly were fantastic. Grace was always very accurate and also personalized some of the excursions to match our exact wishes. When we did not have a day-trip around Zanzibar, we spent hours enjoying the many amenities of the resort, especially the pool which was just a few steps away from our room. One of the things we looked forward to everyday was the food at Mvuvi. We booked the Half-Board package which allowed us to have a large breakfast right by the beach on the deck before our day-time excursions. Dinner at the resort was truly a culinary experience of its own. The large variety of dishes offered and their amazing taste really made this one of our most memorable aspects of our stay.Of course the beach of the resort was absolutely spectacular and observing how the movement of the tides changed the whole scene was really amazing. Some of us also decided to take a kite—surfing course at the Duotone-Pro Center. Since the water near the shore is fairly shallow and there usually being good wind, it was a great spot to start learning how to kite!Once we got back from the beach the outside shower of the resort was very convenient to get the sand off the feet and body too we would not fill the room with it. The rooms themselves were comfortable and authentically decorated. They include a well working air-conditioner and ventilator as well as nets for each bed individually, which you will be very thankful for after a long day trip on the island. The shower and bathroom were spacious and well equipped.Staying at Mvuvi boutique resort has allowed us to fully lay-back and relax throughout our entire vacation. Overall, we had a great relaxing vacation that was facilitate by the continuously helpful and kind staff at Mvuvi. As someone who has been to Zanzibar before, I highly recommend this place as it is located right at the heart of beautiful Kiwengwa beach.
This small scale boutique hotel is definitely one of the best places I stayed in years. I spent 8 nights here. Its probably not the cheapest option around, but it was really good value for money. All staff were very friendly, professional and always willing to help out or give advice. The hotel to me felt like coming home. Its a place where you can wind down. No loud music or pool animation, no fuss, just relaxing in a beautiful environment. A perfect place to stay when you’re traveling alone or as a couple.And then the food.. OMG. By far the best food I tasted on the island. Some of the starters and mains were really high level, both in taste and presentation. Again, not the cheapest option around but good value for what you pay. If you’re not staying at this hotel then at least go there for lunch or dinner and try some of the Michelin star worhty starters!The hotel has a small but cosy pool under the trees / in the shade which you will probably have all to yourself, as not many guests use it.Would I go there again? Definitely!
We had a great time during our 7 days trip to Mvuvi!Pros- Really friendly staff: The staff was really friendly, always smiling and helpful.- Nice, clean, big rooms: The room standards were great. Bed a bit hard but besides this we had a great stay. The Aircon, fan kept the rooms cold.- Great beach: White beach, security service at the beach, good for swimming.- Beautiful Setting: The hotel facility was really beautiful, private with only a few rooms, pool was small but pretty, beautiful trees and flowers all around.- ok Wifi: The WiFi was not great but good for the local standards. Calls were possible, no video calls though.- Breakfast: Was good but as a vegan rather difficult. Fresh fruits were amazing!Cons:- Noisy: The main reason for deducting stars is that on Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a party happening nearby and we were unable to sleep during these nights (even with ear plugs) due to the music and bass.- Expensive restaurant: The second reason for deducting stars is that the prices of the restaurant are extremely high compared to the nearby restaurants. The drinks had triple the prices compared to all 6 other restaurants we visited nearby(small glass of wine 7$, beer 5$, soda 3$). The food was ok, nothing special but double the prices and the portions were extremely small.- Note: A few more shadow spots at the beach would be great- Note: Thanks for your answer! However, it makes it much worse that you are friends with the owner and accepted such a loud noise for 3 nights!! Unacceptable!
Mvuvi was truly exceptional!A small, welcoming and beautiful hotel which immediately transports you into the deepest feeling of calmness and relaxation. We stayed in the garden villa room which has its own private outdoor area that opens out directly onto the beach. Waking up early in the morning to go for a walk at sunrise to be welcomed back by a fantastic and very generous breakfast each morning was a brilliant way to end the final 3 days of our adventures around Tanzania. The staff were brilliant - in particular Grace and couple of the waiters who were so attentive. There are a number of larger resorts along Kiwengwa Beach but in our opinion the character, charm and design of Mvuvi was far better than any of the bigger resorts.PS: Having read a couple of the negative reviews further down I find them completely laughable and almost exactly the opposite of what Mvuvi really is.I couldnt recommend highly enough.
Great hospitality and amazing food! At Mvuvi you have everything you need for your holiday. Cozy rooms, swimming pool, beautiful gardens and private beach, just perfect to relax and enjoy!
Fantastic boutique hotel. Super friendly owner and staff. Amazing (and plentiful) food. Rooms are great. The most negative thing about this place that I can think of is that the light can be blinding in the white and incredibly fine sand on the beach, so bring your sunglasses😎
The hotel is decorated tastefully and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The owner was extremely helpful with a number of organisational issues, calling several airlines for us in order to make sure we can make it back home safely. The food was very good, especially compared to other venues nearby which for the same price offered rather basic dishes. The rooms are spacious, very clean and with air conditioning.
The Mvuvi Boutique Hotel is absolutely Amazing. I can’t think of any negative points. The food is incredible as is the service. The rooms are very clean and the A/C and fan make sure you have a nice room temperature to sleep. I Will definitely come back here if I ever travel tot Zanzivar again, no doubt!

Very surprised by the good comments linked to this hotel (are they true ?). On our side we found a poorly maintained hotel: smelly bathroom with drains that need work, dirty and neglected pool, basic food at excessive prices (same prices as the Hyatt but without the standing). Hotel designed just for business and only for money without any soul and love of beautiful things. In short, if you have a minimum of requirements in terms of comfort, skip it, there are so many offers in Zanzibar.Update following the answerThe minimum of customer relations is to respect all opinions and not to discredit unfavourable reviews. Found this little gem along the beach front in Kiwengwa. Staff were excellent, so polite and accommodating. Good choice for vegetarians compared to a lot of places in Zanzibar and some gluten free options. Delicious food and lovely setting, would recommend

Great location on the beach. Staff are really friendly and cant do enough for you - slightly over-attentive for my liking but very helpful. The room is gorgeous and view from restaurant area spectacular. I would have put five stars but theres no Wi-Fi in rooms - you have to go to the restaurant.
The Mvuvi Resort is a beautiful little resort located on the east coast of Zanzibar. It is placed on the beach, so you will be able to get from your room to the sea in a matter of seconds. the beach is great, with water temperatures like a warm shower. the staff is very friendly and helpful. the only negative thing about the resort is that the dinner usually taste like nothing.

Had a wonderful stay in this fabulous hotel. The hotel/resort is situated directly on the beach. If you are into Kitesurfing or other watersports it takes you literally less than a minute to get to the water. The staff is amazing and all very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to everyone who is looking into spending some relaxing time in Zanzibar. Definitely coming again.

From the rose water they provide to wash your hands and the delicious juice they offer at arrival or the amazing hospitality ?Grace, has been an amazing host. Has arranged my excursions based on my schedule and needs. I was in need of bandaids and she went above and beyond on getting some from the pharmacy and bringing them directly to me!!!Clean place and great food! I highly recommend it !
Hi to everybody, i spent 14 days in Mvuvi and i can say that the place is amazing. The staff is really professional, helpfull and polite.the food is great , we were in h/b and we had a lot of choises for breakfast ,lunch , dinner. the menu a la carte has salad, fruit salad, pizza, beef, chicken, fish, lamb, pork, seafood , chips, every thing.the lunch is with 3 courses every day different, for dinner there are 4 courses !!!!!!!!! And if you dont like something ,the kitchen will prepare what you like.My wife was vegetarian and for 14 days she had every days different dishes .This place is amazing, great staff, great rooms .Thanks MvuviWe will be back again !!!!!!

This is how you expect your dreams to become reality - enjoying your time in the sun surrounded by charming people, professional service, sipping cocktails 🍸.. what else can you wish for. The resort is really beautiful, clean, cosy and we definitely recommend enjoying your holiday at this place.
The staff was very friendly and tried hard. We could always contact the staff if we had any questions or requests. We were supported in planning trips (to Mnemba, Stone Town, Safari and much more) and booking a kite course. Since we didnt take masks with us for swimming, the hotel provided us with some. For our anniversary, the staff arranged for us a romantic candlelit dinner under the stars upon request. The rooms are spacious. We had a couch in the room and a large closet in which all our luggage found space. The bathroom was also very spacious and offered space for two people to prepare. The room was cleaned during the day and before going to bed the bed was made and a fresh carafe of water was placed in the room. Spontaneous requests were responded to very quickly (we were able to book excursions for the next morning in the evening and arrange massages and cosmetic appointments within a very short time). The food was very tasty. For breakfast there was a rich fruit plate, freshly squeezed juice, various egg dishes and countless extras (pancakes, French toast, bacon, sausages, etc.) every morning with new local specialties. The restaurant is open from morning to evening and offers a variety of different fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. The location cant be beat as the hotel is right on the beach with uninterrupted views of the sea. The hotel is located on the longest beach in Zanzibar, so we took the chance and went for long walks on the beach. The pool is hidden in the beautiful garden and offers the possibility to swim in the shade. The hotel also provided enough shady loungers so that we never had to lie in the blazing sun. Around noon we always treated ourselves to a fresh coconut in the shade.
Great setting, I loved staying there I put 4 stars and not 5 because the waiting time and the kitchen need to be improved otherwise the rest is perfect 😍

Wonderful stay at the Mvuvi Hotel, an address to recommend with your eyes closed! Simple and warm welcome from Carolina and her team, top-notch staff who do everything they can to make our stay just perfect. Very authentic setting and tastefully and soberly decorated. The location is simply ideal, directly on a huge and almost desert beach with white sand and turquoise ocean. Small hotel with 8 rooms where you feel at home. Ideal for disconnecting and recharging your batteries. Carolina knows the island by heart and shares her tips. Possible excursions with the hotel. Reasonable prices. In short, a memorable stay for our family!

Nice resort, clean, tidy with helpful and friendly staff. The only flaws are the lack of a daily bottle of water included in the price, a mini bar, portions definitely limited to meals
What a beautiful small-scale resort. Lots of attention from the staff. Right on the beach, but somewhat remote. Decor very nice. Nice affordable food. Much variation. Had a great week. We were in April, May. This was low season. Really very quiet. Much was also close by.
