One of places that suprise you and grows on you so much that you dont want to leave. Lets start with the base - its a small boutique hotel that has only 8 rooms, but has everything that you need. Run by lovely couple that will tell you everything that you need to know, recommend restaruad and even other places in Zanzibar. On place you have a pool and restaurant that has a different meals every night. Breakfast are good and will set you for a day. Outside hotel there is a small local shop and place to buy fruits. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone for short or longer stays!

Georgia was adorable, she was very careful with us and prepared several good personalized dishes, according to our desires, every evening.The staff are also very involved and very caring. The hotel is well located next to the beach, very clean and with a good design which allows us to fully enjoy this haven of peace.Its ideal for familly with different kind of game to play together with friends or family.Its not too far from every attraction and you can find affordable taxi prices if you negotiate well.

We had a great experience at Kiganja while we did our scuba courses in Matemwe. All of the staff at the hotel were outstanding. In particular, the owner and our waiter, Peter, were hospitable and incredibly friendly. The rooms are basic but comfortable. The A/C was a godsend. This was a great and affordable hotel where we would definitely stay again.

My friends and I had a great time at Kiganja Retreat Zanzibar! I can definitely recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for a beautiful place near the beach to fully relax! The rooms are clean and new, the pool is amazing, and the location is perfect, just 1 min away from the sea. The breakfast is included in the rate and additionally they also serve delicious lunch and a 3-course dinner at Kiganja. Our special thanks to Georgia, Daniele and the staff who have been wonderful and very welcoming and made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible.

I was a bit worried about this budget hotel because my husband booked it and he is notoriously cheap. But I was pleasantly surprised to find this hotel exceeded expectations for what we paid for!The room is small. We had a double bed. But it was very clean and modern, with air conditioning and a safe. The bathroom is nice and modern. The shower was excellent!Breakfast was not included (not was taxes and booking fee) in the advertised price, but for 2 people, we ended up paying about $80 for the night. Breakfast was a decent spread of pastries, instant coffee and tea. But you can order eggs and sausages and espresso.The beach is a few meters away. Theres a path you can take to get there. But we didnt go to the beach as we only stayed the night so we didnt have to drive from Stone Town to make our 9 am dive meet up.For dinner, you need to make arrangements with the hotel first. They have a set menu. However, if you want to venture out and have your own transportation, there are restaurants in Matemwe/Kiwengwa you can check out.It is an excellent place to stay in Matemwe and I would recommend it to anyone on a budget!

Amazing place and owner. The place is beautiful. They recreated a beach a the resort with beach chairs, palapas and sand. Right next to the beautiful beach of Zanzibar. Owner helped us when the airline messed up our flights.

Kiganja Retreat is amazing place at kilimajuu that is good location no where like kiganja beautifully trees and green around you at kiganja no strees no noise its like half paradise to enjoy your holiday if you feel more enjoy just kiganja only good stuff and nice service all of this at kiganja be happy and joyfully I have more to say but I cant explain all go and have nice hotel at kiganja

Extremely nice and demanding accommodation, wonderful, clean room, comfortable bed, well-equipped bathroom. A miracle is their garden and pool. Nice staff and owners, very helpful. It is a 1.5 minute walk to the ocean which is also a miracle. Breakfast is very good and their cuisine is divine anyway! I am maximally satisfied, I can only recommend it to everyone. Thank you for being here for a few days! I hope I can come back once! :)

A lovely, small seaside resort on Matemwe Beach.Run by two Italian guys, the resort is nice, with large and super clean rooms, a swimming pool always available to guests and a fantastic restaurant service. The breakfast is abundant and rich, both sweet and savory, it is possible to eat à la carte for lunch while for dinner a different menu is prepared every day with appetizer, mixed dish and dessert. Everything always very fresh and delicious.The rooms are equipped with fan and bathroom with large and comfortable shower.Ask Georgia to accompany you in search of crabs and hermit crabs and let us advise you on the tours that you can book directly here in the resort.SUPER RECOMMENDED for a family holiday with children in Zanzibar.

If you plan to stay northeast of this island is a structure to be considered for various reasons: tranquility of the place, the presence of each guestroom is furnished with luxurious fittings. Shower and super mattress. Sublime breakfast with freshly baked Italian pastries, homemade jams using local fruit and much more. Excellent dinner. Availability of Italian owners always willing to give advice and satisfy demands. All at an excellent value for money.
