We are booked a Kilimanjaro trek for lemosho route, 6 day northern Tanzania safari including ngorogoro crater, Serengeti, lake manyara and tangire NP for 9 people and an additional southern Tanzania safari. 7 of us stayed at the Swahili house in between, and Jimmy arranged for a hotel for the other 2. Overall a very positive experience. Jimmy arranged everything seemlessly including an alternative tour option out of Dar es salaam for two people in our company not wanting to hike the mountain. He was good with communication leading up to and during the trip. Definitely more engaged before he got paid but appropriately responsive afterwards. We had no big issues or surprise expenses. Everything was transparent. Our food was outstanding. One of our tour guides, John, was exceptional, we enjoyed George as well but John had a real knack for finding the good stuff. Dinner and driver arrangements were great, including airport transfers. This is overall a solid company that treated us well for a budget option. Just a few points we wished we could have changed. The Swahili house is too small for 7 people, seems like 6 max would be the limit. We really wanted a full day in the crater per our itinerary because that was the best spot, but we weren’t super privy to the tour itinerary as it completed flipped to accommodate additional people, discussing this would have been ideal and spare our disappointment. I wish Jimmy had done more tour guiding while with us or split up and gone with George who needed more support. The guide he hired for the trek was amazing tho. Price was the best we could find anywhere. So all in all, happy with our choice and at that price to have one company arranged everything and have it go well really during COVID, we were satisfied. Never seemed to have anything shady happening, we booked local to keep our money local and with this company it went great.
So, I decided to come to Kenya/Tanzania for my birthday. And my guides for Kenya were absolutely amazing. My guide/company from Tanzania not so much. My point of contact was Jim/James. His communication needs a lot of work. After he gets paid his response timing is poor. The picture below to the left is the Igloo they wanted to place me in. When I paid for a beautiful lodge. I spoke to them about it. They took me to another lodge. We get to that lodge and find out that it’s the wrong one again! But, my driver left before even checking me in! I was so scared and confused. The receptionist stated that the guides had poor communication! Finally my driver came back. And brought me to the right hotel. I loved it! It’s called Marera View lodge! I was scheduled to going to see Mount Kilimanjaro and to go to the hot springs. However due to weather the Mount was barely visible. I asked Jim/James for a partial refund. He refused! He even threw one of his drivers “Habib” under the bus with blame. Very unprofessional.Try someone when else! Don’t book!Kalvin and Habib the drivers were nice though. Here are screenshots of our conversations! So, he won’t say that I’m lying.
Jimmy with Swahili Paradise Tours & Safaris was awesome. He was very quick to respond to any questions we had and helped us solve any issues that came up concerning the Covid tests that were necessary for us to get back home. He was able to arrange all of our safaris and they went off without any problems. Our itineraries changed a few times. We would have liked to spend more time in the Crater viewing the animals. The guides were great and were able to show us some of the animals that were a little harder to find. We were able to experience camping, glamping, lodges, and hotels. Part of our group did the trek up the mountain while the other part did a separate safari and then we combined and did a safari together. Our guides found us some action packed sites. It was a great experience for us and we would recommend Swahili Paradise Tours & Safaris to others.
We have booked a family safari (for 6 persons) with Jimmy some months before the safari. Swahili Paradise Tours did a great job on making the safari. We had a good 4x4 car and food was good. There were no problems on the safari. We have seen beautiful spots in the Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. In the end, we skipped the Masaai tour (because it was too commercial). Unfortunately a refund could not be made. Our driver (Emmanuel) was the best driver we could imagine. We do have some suggestions, because there is room for improvement. For example: the camping gear was old and dirty. Its better to fix better gear for more comfort. Also, we ended the safari in Lake Manyara, while its better to start there (because its not that impressive after you went to Serengeti). After all it was a beautiful experience and were happy that weve booked with Swahili Paradise Tours! Thank you Jimmy.
RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANYAs a summary, this tour agency ruined our holidays and safari. We had a 5-day safari. The first two days were good enough, even though the guide barely spoke English and was more of a driver than a guide. The game drive was boring with him, and we had to keep pushing for information about animals and nature. He woke up every day after I did and started the day at 10am (losing 3 hours of each morning, which are also the best for game drives). He had breakfast every day after we finished ours.On the third day, we started moving at 12 pm because we had to wait for other people. After those people arrived, we had a 1 hour game drive, and then had a flat tire. Until then, we hadnt realized that the car was in horrible conditions. The tires were worn out, they didnt have a jack to change tires, and all their spare tires were in bad shape. We waited 2 hours until another tour guide provided us with a jack. At that time we had lost our entire day at Ngorongoro. No apologies. No explanations. On the fourth day, we started late (as always). We arrived to the Serengeti at 13.30. We had a 3-hour lunch stop because they had not paid the fees to enter the park. We started the safari at 16:00, but at 17:00 we had not one, but two flat tires (including the one that we had changed the previous day). We arrived at 21:00 to our hotel (after 3.30 hours changing flat tires), having had only 1 hour of game drive. Again no explanations. No apologies. On our fifth day, we had 2 hours of game drive, until guess what. A flat tire again. Now we refuse to continue in the same car (even though the driver wanted), because the wheel was loose and detached from the screws. We could have had a serious accident if we had not push hard. We arrived to Arusha with other company. The owner of the company (he calls himself jimmy) and the operations manager (Parancho or John), never called us, never gave us explanation, never gave us a refund (even thought they promised one). They really screwed our holidays, they gave us 3 days full of tension, stress and horrible service, and they put our lives at risk by using cars in terrible shape. My advice is to ignore the convenient prices, and pay a few bucks more for a serious and reliable company, that worries about security, good service and good experience. The places are beautiful, and I really regret putting my experience in the hands of these unprofessional and irresponsible guys. They put us in risk, and didnt even responded or apologized.AVOID!!!
We had an awesome experience with these guys. The food was fabulous and we we were able to affort to take our entire family
