I have been here for breakfast with my mate on a Sunday morning during the after church hours and it was packed 😅 guess it’s reputation proceeds it. I had Scrambled egg with a toast and it was super, loved the waitress who was serving us and the atmosphere minus the church traffic. The price for their food is okay and they’re inside set up it’s perfect.
The food at Salt is excellent and it tastes brilliant. This review is more about Salts service. A lot of people who are local such as myself have noted that Salt has a reputation for treating local Tanzanian clients badly. I had been here a few years ago and the service was terrible while we watched other people being treated well. My husband and I decided to give Salt one more try this weekend and we were pleasantly surprised as the service seem to have improved a little bit. We went for breakfast, we had omelettes, pancakes, hot chocolate and drinks. Their food is absolutely excellent but I hope the service can continue to be improved and I hope Tanzanian customers will be welcomed nicely just like everyone else. Might give Salt another chance again.
SALT is a great restaurant located a few metres from the Indian Ocean in the Oyster Bay Area of the city of Dar es Salaam. I enjoy my breakfast there. The food is absolutely amazing. The environment and the waiting stuff are just wonderful. It’s definitely a place to go for anyone who enjoys dining at classy eateries
Pork bacon on the menu!!! Cooked right!! American style pancakes!!! Nachos were made from fried wonton strips- super creative. Toilet area was clean with cute decor AND hygiene sheets for the Western toilet seat!!! Paper towels were soft and plentiful. We will be back. Breakfast bill was 74000tsh for two. Visa credit card accepted here.
I’ve been here several times and had great experience on every occasion. The food and desserts are delicious, have a very homemade flavour and style to them, and come in great portions.Waiters are very attentive and helpful, service is quick overall.Interior design is an interesting mix and match of pretty much everything, feels very cosy. And of course good spot for some breeze by the ocean!I recommend the homemade iced tea, philly steak quesadilla and pancakes.
This place is AMAZING... Anna our server was attentive and so pleasant. We had the open-faced smoked salmon beer battered onion rings and Japanese beef the full came out quickly hot and extremely good we were so pleased with the atmosphere the service and the full I highly recommend this place and we took a takeaway of cake which was superb try the double expresso and the saffron chai latte...
Beware of the tall server. He approached our table with our food. My wife told him which dish was hers and the server went around her and gave me my dish 1st. I told him ladies 1st in English and swahili and his reply was not in Africa while laughing.. I thought he was a bad representation of the restaurant staff. My wife was made to feel bad but she continued to smile and gave his tip to a lady server. I will not take her back there. LADIES 1ST!
I love salt. The ambience, the hospitality/service, the location and the freshness of their food and desserts is impeccable.I tried the orange cake today. Loved it! Perfectly balanced sweetness with their orange glaze drizzled over the cake. Moist and light. Just perfect.I also love how raw, detailed and authentic their menu is.
My wife and I visited Salt for a familiar western breakfast experience. I had the omelette with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce, and a coffee (Americano with milk) It was delicious. My wife had the Veggie Monty, which was a very sizeable platter. Again, it was delicious. This establishment is a bit more expensive than other places, but Oyster Bay is like Miami Beach.
Had a search before visiting. I would say this cafe/ restaurant is definitely worth a try. Friendly staff, nice decorations and certainly good environment nearby the coco beach. The most important thing is the dishes and coffee. Most food is well prepared and placed on wooden plate. Chocolate cake is awesome with decent ice cream. The coffee is probably best I ever tried in Dar. Surely will come back if I can.
Salt has wonderful service and their food is delicious. Its a place that has been here for years and their service and food is still just as good as the last time I came in 2015.
Nice welcoming place. Good for quiet lunch dates
Excellent food nice ambience very quick service I thoroughly enjoyed
Have been several times here. First dont miss reading all the signs on the walls... Chocolate shrinks the trousers... Just fun!Service is polite but honestly like most places in DAR training would make the difference. If you are a fan of pancakes GO.. I am not but still the calamari with bacon nice would have been great if better cooked; to hot panfried so bacon well but the calamari undercooked. Fries tasted a bit of old oil. Breakfast is great had the Yoga plate, fruits with yogurt and muesli not bad.Coffee is really good... Excellent cappuccino!Well visited and clean with an open kitchen. Nice terrace. Will go again cause its an enjoyable place to go... But has potential of being much better in my opinion. No WiFi ... !!
Awesome place with good crowd but a little price for the average man..... good food and ambiance
Good location and good food. Service is fine as well. So a worthwhile restaurant venue to visit with both inside and outside seating.
Great food, friendly staff, perfect funky place for Sunday brunch.
Cute place. What I ordered did not come as described on the menu, and the staff seemed less than enthused to fix my order. That was really frustrating. Prices seem high for the quality of food you actually get.Side note: They do not have gluten free bread anymore. The menu no longer states its an option.
Slat had the best breakfast/brunch in Dar...so delicious and great healthy options ...the ambiance is also great.
It Awesome & great place to enjoying deliciously #best ever🏝️🍽️♥️
So disappointed that this passes for 5* food in Dar. Cold, flavourless, overpriced breakfast served with a grimace. 6 pages of menu offering up no creativity or actual choice.
Amazing food with great service. A suggestion would be if you could offer a choice between 2 types of thickness of bread. Some may prefer a thinner slices for their toast or sandwich
Nice location. the food is not convincing. the prices are overpriced.
Very nice place, food is great and staff are really excellent. The place to go for Breakfast, if you have not been for breakfast, try it..!
Awesome place to chill and have a good plate of food .....good service ...cold beer and smiley service ....just love the vibe
Unique restaurant.Wall writings that will make you laugh.Have both outdoor and indoor sitting arrangement.Foods? Tasty and freshly made.Nice place to be.
Great place to have breakfast, haven’t tried other meals. Wish it had more space, feels a tad small, but i guess it helps to keep the place quiet and nice to have a meal.
Food is okay depending on what you order, some food is better than others. Otherwise atmosphere is good .
The atmosphere is amazing. Speaking like a book lover, just loved feeling like I could chill by the nooks, read and eat. The waiters were responsive, but the food was so-so. Portions on the small side and the flavors far felt
I dont have words to say its very nice
Consistent great quality. Fast service, delicious food and drinks.
Amazing place, love the interior. Great place for brunch, food is great, friendly staff. It’s always pretty busy on the weekend so might be a good idea to make a reservation if you are a big group. Downside they sometimes are missing quite a few items of the menu.
We had Calamari and Chicken Salad. It was well prepared and came on time. The staff behaved well and their prices are reasonable. I would give a 5 star rating but their menu didnt have pasta.....
Great modern vibe, nice staff and delicious dining in my experience of breakfast/lunch/brunch. Pots of tea and English teabags made a nice change. Alcohol also served. Some options on the menu are a little pricey but worth it and cheaper options available. Would highly recommend a visit.
The stand is good, well located and accessible
Excellent food and service
It can be hit or miss with the food quality and the portion size at times, but generally, their food is filling and delicious! Favorites include pancakes, burgers and salads. You can skip the bland French toast, and if youre looking for a big meal, the eggs Benedict just dont cut it.
Beautiful restaurant located in a beautiful building, variety of food from breakfast, you can also sit here and have your small business or professional meetings and the place is so cool with great customer service, you would love and enjoy to be here as the other of side the view of the Indian Ocean (Coco Beach).
Modern, clean with local flavor. Seems like place for expats, located near ocean beach. Pricy by local standards.
The best breakfasts in town, probably lunches too but thats a close call.Great atmosphere and staff. Food.... divine. Try it you wont regret it.
Great great food. Their breakfast menu is one of the best Ive had in Dar.
A lovely place to bring the family. Staff were very kind providing food without us having to wait long. The food is amazing with a large variety aswell as good portion size. Although there was no WiFi available.
This place is a gem not to be missed in Dar es salaam. Great food and coffees I just keep coming back every time I am here. Good service owner really gets fine food preparation
Food was OK for the price, service was very slow - I was often ignored by the staff. I went for an organised board games night but no one else was there for it, they had a big pile of games though.
Good ambience with delicious burgers. However, during lunch time service is rather slow. You have to keep calling the waiter to ask for menu, food and bill.
Great brunch, coffee, and cocktails. Lots of menu choices. Good for business breakfasts and lunches, but also dog and surfer friendly. This place has it all!
SUPER SUPER UNIQUE!!Very charming and very very pleasantly surprised to see a place like this in Dar. Good coffee, great food, and absolutely great ambiance. Outdoor seating is great for the chimneys..
Nice place.... Always had breakfast meetings and enjoyed
Really nice calmy cozy place especially early morning and affordable too.good hospitality and they understand the essence of time
Good drinks, mostly decent food. Good deserts. Only problem is rude management that refuses to take accountability for when they mess up your food and serve something inedible.
Nice comfortable place to enjoy breakfast or lunch. Prices are high but food is well done here. Their pastries selection is on point as well if youre looking for just something sweet.
My 5 stars are for their breakfast menu! Very delicious and fairly priced. Go for brunch on Sunday, you will not regret it.
Good selection of food, good service, and nice place. Price is mid range and higher. It can be packed on a Sunday morning, make a reservation.
Very good food, efficient service, professional staff. Highly recommended this place!
Amaizing Food.. great service.. becer disappoints . try the quesadilla (fat slim boy).. burgers and the breakfast combo... yummy pancakes
The chili fries are disgusting. DO NOT ORDER THEM!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT. Despite serving this vile dish, management was hostile towards me refusing to ingest such an unpalatable meal. The cocktails are good though.
The time we were there on a tuesday, the service was very slow let alone the fact that we had to wait forever to get our food till we nearly abandoned the order.Fyi: guests on next table kept complaining abt the same too.
Love the atmosphere and the menu. Great portions
Great venue. Portions are extremely big and some staff are not very attentive. I love their straw alternative though.
Loved the ambiance and staff 👍🏿
Lovely place, awesome food, appalling services. No one to seat customers as they arrive, served by 6 different waiters who loose track of what you ordered.
Didnt get to try the food because all the owners of the restaurants and cafes in this city that cater to the expats living here decided to close for the Christmas break in a mixed religion, but including Muslim, country. Go figure. Does this mean they also close during Ramadan? To be fair, I hope so.
A beautiful place with a lot of intricate details. The meals there are amazing. Best place to have breakfast all day.
