Its lovely place.Safe and quiet.
It safe place to sleep here, security is fine, clean place ,but no food on sunday, bottle of water is bit expensive , compare with when you buy just next door just out of gate, room 18 floor number two you can not adjust it is high speed, turn off or stay in high speed.some one can correct the fan to adjusted if i want volume 1,2,3,4,5 should be customers desire.but all in all i like the place.
The rooms are a bit rundown and decrepit , with peeling wall paper and ceiling fans that look like theyll fall at any minute . The kitchen staff dont understand English very well , either that or they just cant be bothered . They have a menu for dinner with at least 35 different things to eat but they only cook about five things . When I went all they had to offer was rice or spaghetti with tomato sauce . They also have an extensive breakfast menu but the kitchen staff dont seem to know what most of the stuff is , all they know how to cook is french toast an omlettes . All in all I would not stay here again .
The guy at the reception was very unfriendly and definitely not in the mood to help anyone. We arrived quite late and were told that the dorm was full, even though there did not appear to be that many guests staying over. We were told to take double rooms instead. When asking for an ATM to make the payment, I was told that there werent any in the neighbourhood and that wed have to go to the bank during the day time. Finding out we couldnt pay on the spot, he looked like he was about to cancel our rooms, were it not for a fellow traveler that was able to lend us the rest. I even told him that I found an ATM on the map not even 200m away, but he did not comply even though I later found this to be true and that he couldve easily let us withdraw money and come back within fifteen minutes. The room itself was not that bad. It had a fan, sort of balcony and sheets (hence the one star, absolute basics). The shared bathrooms however were not in good shape and did not look all too clean. The next morning did not brighten the receptionists mood either, not even greeting us. Breakfast was no longer included and was double or triple the price of the same type of food sold right in front of the gate. Speaking of the gate, since it was closed at eleven we could not go out even though there were still people in the cafeteria and we got no reply to our banging the gate to see if we could enjoy ourselves there as well.
Nice and quiet place, good simple food, drinks reasonable prices. Centre town location.
The price is its most appealing feature. The rooms are clean. The doubles have a ceiling fan, two closets, desks, and chairs. Most have balconies. The bathrooms are shared and the floor is usually wet and gross. Other than the bathrooms, its ok. The door to the rooms is locked at 11pm. Breakfast is no longer included. There is a dining area (typical tz food) and a bar.
Good non-self contained rooms for cheep.. Showers and western toilets communal but fine. Fans and mosquito nets are good. Great toast, eggs, and tea/coffee for breakfast included!
Hostel is easily accessible from downtown Dar es Salaam. The rooms are spacious but make sure you take the 1 or 2 bed ones since they have rooms with double decker beds which are a bit small.Breakfast here is cheap and delicious with even customers from outside the hostel frequenting the cafeteria. WIFI is available mostly near the reception area.
This place is very nice. The rooms are cheap and quite clean. You have a mosquito net and the separate bathroom is is also quite clean with water nearly all the time. You are next to a big standi so its no problem to reach any parts in the city by daladala.
Speak to Stella when you need to move around the city. Price is 28k double, very simple, shared bathrooms. Ideal for backpackers or just a night before taking a bus next morning
I used to stay here frequently but no longer can. Over the past year, the YMCA staff has been systematically robbing people of small amounts of money, cosmetics and other things from their rooms. The management refuses to do anything about this. Even when a staff member was caught with stolen items in her purse, she was not fired but now works at the YMCA in Moshi. Unacceptable behavior. Do not stay here.
One of the best meeting place for official matter, good location, ample parking, security and bar with restaurant but we can get african food only
The place is nice and secure. Remember to be in by 10 or 11pm because they lock the gates. It has a record of being safe, but they did have 2 break ins recently.
I would say bellow basic place, no mazungo there, just locals. it reminded me boarding school. Every thing is really low class.
Cheap accommodation (25.000 TSH single, 28.000 TSH double room and 15.000 for a dorm). Shared bathroom on floor. Rooms clean. Frequently confused with YWCA which is next road. Same happened to me. So I spent one at night each place. Food is local, stuff at YMCA is friendly and the entire Hostel is more social for travellers then YWCA. Would recommend staying at YMCA or Safari Inn for cheap accommodation in Dar es Salaam.
I had so much fun with my friends at YMCA we grabbed some beers with meat
It is a good place as hostel especially for low income people. It is very ideal for tourists who have little to spend and college students.
Its simple and affordable place. Tourist can accommodate there as its a low cost hostel and has local meals and drinks.
The place is normal with restaurant, pricing is very normal for many people to afford. Location is good for the business people, its within town.
It is a christian hostel but it has no bath in the room. prices in the cafeteria are very high and the food quality is terrible.the staff is not so kind.choose another place guys!!!
The cafeteria is the best thing about the YMCA! The cost of a vegetarian meal is 3,000/= TZS!
Very good customer service, simple and cheap! Also very nice food at the cafeteria!
Good Area for sleeping when your in Posta Dar es Salaam with meals are there Daily
Love the place. Its peaceful...
Busy but available only for selected
Not very nice, and they lock the doors at night. Go somewhere else.
Quiet relaxing environment with good cheap food.
Best value place in Dar. Dorm style with shared bathrooms.
Nice and affordable place to be for budget lover..
The cafeteria is clean, and serves great food.

A good value inn. There is a ticket-based restaurant where you can dine in the morning and evening. There is a refrigerator, so there is no problem with cold beer and cola. There are small snacks and souvenir shops.Wi-Fi does not enter. There is a deferred paid PC. You can get free Wi-Fi powered if you eat at a nearby Holiday Inn.Shower is shared with water and flush toilet. There is a mosquito net, but the hole is open so mosquito repellentNecessary, there are many mosquitoes. There is a security gatekeeper and the dormitory is locked at 22:00.The courtyard has tables and chairs where you can relax. The cafeteria gathers people who work in the neighborhood office. You can have a normal meal. The rooms are rugged, but the beds and floors are clean. Many backpackers can interact with people who travel. The staff is pretty good, and when you leave early in the morning, its important to call out with a joyful voice.Beware that the unusually friendly male staff will casually pay for beer. Its not bad.
Dormitory 15,000 Tanzanian Shilling (about 800 yen)Staff kindness. Although there is no wifi, you can use a net PC for a fee. Water shower. Good location.
Please dont live in this broken youth hostel!YMA, I had to check out and take a taxi to the ubungo bus station early in the morning. The staff at the front desk of the hotel said that they would take me to the bus station and charge me 300000TZS when I arrived. !! It costs 300000TZS (14dollars) for ten kilometers! I said that the price of the taxi on uber is less than 100,000TSZ, and I just asked me for 300000TZS! YMCA bosses pray for this employee to be fired! Heart is as dark as people!YMA, take a taxi.
