The owner is absolutely amazing and so friendly! The house is located not far from the airport but you need taxi to get there (safety reasons) - perfect place to rest before/after the flight. Rooms and beds are cheap so please do not expect high luxury - just basic stuff but in a very friendly atmosphere.

Charles is a very helpful and nice host. He was going out with us and showed us some bars in Dar. Also he helped a lot with the PCR-Test. The place is a bit hard to find but its very lovely and cosy.Thank you very much Charles for staying with you and helping me out. If you need a nice place near the airport and support in Dar I highly recommend JJ & JE Family House.

Extremely NOT Recommended. Its impossible to find this place by yourself. I booked a bed in dorm and informed that I arrived around 11 p.m., but they forgot about me. I need to wait like 30 minutes until everything was cleared. Also, stuff isnt a very friendly and I felt very uncomfortable.

Simple, perfect stay in Dar es salam thats as hot as hell. However, JE family house does have fitting air conditioners, honestly Ive been impressed by the hospitality and vibes around the place. Looking forward to stay there on my next trip

Really nice place with a lot of nature around. the family that lives here is part of the experience and they are really welcoming. The price is the cheapest that you will find around, close to the airport. Unlike most of the places in Dar es salaam, this one is in a really quite area.around you will find cheap restaurants and market. The place also serving lunch and dinner with 4$ per meal.

I lived at JJ & JE Family House for more than a year. I have been to Dar es Salaam before.I am also a traveler. I believe my review should be a helpful for someone who wants to stay there. I cannot write my experience for a year, but in summary, it was my best trip. It is an experience you never forget. I arrived late night and found Mr. Baluze himself waiting for me at the airport.The place is very safe, clean with a beautiful garden, easy to find, close to the airport with a very friendly neighborhood.The family’s hospitality, honestly and generosity were beyond imagination. I cannot recall any single undesirable moment during my stay. I had to extend my visa three times and Mr. Baluze guided me to the right people with no charge. I saw other tourists who had also the same issue and he was there for them to.They are practicing christian family and made me experience one of the best ramadan i ever had. They rescheduled their working hours, food times for thirty days just to acommodate me. They woke up early to open the gate for me to go to the mosque.If you are an open minded, family oriented person and would like to experience Tanzania’s hospitality, I strongly recommend you this place. I would advise you to stay at least a week and ask Mr. Baluze make a plan for you in Dar es Salaam and its neighborhoods, A lot to discover. Please don’t leave the place without eating their food. It’s so delicious. If you play soccer, there is a football field close to the family house managed by the neighborhood. They are training morning and evening. They are very friendly. They do not ask you anything, just play and enjoy the game. But for sure any material support (Pinnies, balls,..) will surely be appreciated.My special thanks to Madam Baluze, a wonderful school teacher. Despite her busy schedule, we always get her greetings and ask if everything is going well.My thanks go to their wonderful kids and their workers who were very helpful to me.JJ & JE Family becomes a second family to me and with God will, if have a chance I will visit often. Impossible to arrive without their “shuttle” (and old taxi which charges 10$).We tried UBER (2$ for the same distance) and there wasn’t way to arrive.Finally they have to pick up us and charged the 10$ + Uber (who broke the car trying to arriving there!)The owner was laughting about us and finally we paid 2 times the real price. The place also is not good for the price and the breakfast was ridiculous (1 egg and 1 toast bread).Just avoid this place and go for any other one.

Absolutely amazing!!! what more can I say this is our first time to an african country. And Charles and his family have gone above and beyond to make sure that we have had the most wonderful experience ever! So much so that we decided to extend our visit and rent a little apartment. From the time we arrived at the airport they picked us up brought us home fed us great food and have treated us like family everyday since. JJ & JE Family House is an excellent resource for anyone visiting Tanzania. They are very knowledgeable a wealth of information on various topics regarding Tanzanian culture, history, arts food and languages. Our 5 year old daughter loved it so much! She got the opportunity to go to the local school next door and visit with the children there. She has also established a great friendship with little Michelle who speaks both English and Swahili perfectly. There are 2 doctors that live onsite both a male and a female, that made my wife even more comfortable. We absolutely love this family. They are now our family. They also provide guided tours of historical sites or they show you some of the most beautiful beaches anyone has ever seen and you can just relax. I could go on and on. You must come to JJ & JE Family House. To Charles and his family, from me and my fàmily WE LOVE YOU ALL. THANK YOU JJ & JE Family House!!!

Clean, safe and pocket friendly for short term visitors. Their services include, bed, breakfast, lunch and supper as well as internet connection. It is close to the Airport.

This place is in the middle of nowhere. They charge you 10$/one way and there is no other way to arrive, so you will spend 20$ just for 5min ride from the airport.Any other place is cheaper!!

Charles and his family were very welcoming and I had a great time for one night. When I come back to Tanzania I will definitely stay here again

Very friendly accommodation. Charles and his family warmly welcome their guests and are always ready to help. The food tastes wonderful and its great to meet other nice people in a family atmosphere while eating together. I hope I still have the opportunity to be a guest at JJ & JE often.

The service is good, the host will be happy to help with information in any domain or area because there is nothing for which they will not find a solution.My opinion is that we could add a slice of some fruit for breakfast.

It is a very good place, and very welcoming. The family are very nice, it is better than a hotel, you feel like at home. You learn a lot about the culture and you drop all kinds of dishes typical of the country. I recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.

A typical accommodation for travelers. They are ostentation but very correct. They offer shared and individual rooms. Good treatment and family atmosphere Tanzana!Close to the airport but far from the center.
