Clock towers are a specific type of building which houses a turret clock and has one or more clock faces on the upper exterior walls. Many clock towers are freestanding structures but they can also adjoin or be located on top of another building.Clock towers are a common sight in many parts of the world with some being iconic buildings and Dar es salaam is gifted to have one located at the heart of the city.
Nice place Also it is the center of the Dar es Salaam city as they used to measure distance from there towards different parts within and outside the city..e.g 1 Mile Kibaha is measured from there and the like..
Its almost like the city center to various places in city, it links places such Mnazi mmoja, Posta, Kisutu etc
A historical monument in the heart of Dar es Salaam. This tower commemorates Tanzanias independence day. The famous Uhuru (Independence) road that crosses Kariakoo, Ilala to Buguruni starts from here. City Council should renovate its structure to promote city tourism.
Super customers service and also owner is fantastic man affordable prices
Historical site it is also near railway station another historical site
Nothing historical about it .must have some significance but no publicity
It is a good landmark to position yourself in the city.
One of many clocktowers positioned on roundabouts
Famous place around city center in DAR ES SALAAM
Busy place with nice buildings
A landmark which is not being kept to the standard it was... the clock is not working for some time and the monument is becoming a ruin. the garden has not been serviced since they reduced the size of the roundabout some months ago. The City council is just a block away from here and this is from where Dar es Salaam 0Km starts.
The place is considered to be the centre of Dar es Salam city
Its a historical place situated at the first class trading area in darsalam town centre near the ocean its the first feature you will ever see upon your entry in town. It is a clock hanging on the middle of the round about getting you to town it has a historic place and it was put there to offer time checks to the local population
Too many traffic jam in the evening
It is the centre of Dar es salaam! The place is awesome since it has everything from street food to shopping centres to apartments and offices. At night, the streets are filled with music, bbq and fun. The most important thing though is, the roads NEVER have traffic jam!!!!

My business is true about me
First of all its great place for those guys looking to take tourist to see lively town areas with a little bit of asiatic history in the mixture with the new African middle working class history, the old city attraction and monument being demolished which destroys the history and the cool asiatic history of the city like the clock tower monument and the old mansions.
This place is historical. It has been there as aold as the city is. It has a garden managed by the city council. Part of the garden is maintained by exim bank tanzania. It has an old clock. Accurate and doesnt need power to operate. The clock is old but functions very well.it is a very important landmark of this part of the town. It is the end of samora avenue and ends karume avenue but almost the beginning of uhuru road
🪔
A busy street laden with electric appliance shops. A perfect location in Dar for getting household appliances at good prices and good warranty (potentially better than at big malls - e.g., one can get multi-year factory warranty on a product since many retailers are authorized/official sellers). The clock tower itself is a good landmark and reference point when roaming downtown.
I like the the way it looks but I honestly was expecting to see something better. And I had in mind that the city will keep the tower in a better condition.
Nothing special about the tower. It really could use an upgrade. It is more or less the same for over 2 decades.
Busy place around the dar es Salaam city. Variety of businesses as well as offices
It is the center of Dar es Salaam, built three days after independence (11-December 1961) to commemorate the City status.
An iconic monument at the heart of Dar-es-salaam, found along Samora Avenue.
Nice scenerio in the middle of a place dari es dalam Tanzania
Its the centre of the city dar es salam and main business hub. Almost all market and banks are within one kilometre radius from clock tower. One can rent an apartment for 700 to 1200 USD nearby.
It reminds me of what the past looked like, so that I can enjoy the present, and hope for the prosperous future, by putting in the efforts now of course..
Situated in Kariako in the hustle and bustle of downtown Dar es Salaam Quiet on Sundays.
It is almost the city centre! its a busy area but with very little traffic during the day time but a little heavy traffic during the evening (week days)
