If you plan to go for the view, I recommend it 100 percent. Anything else, you are taking a risk. People go here because they don’t have much of an option. The food is terrible at best and the service is subpar. Please, do not order the Sushi or anything raw unless you have lived in Dar for a while and your stomach is prepared for it. They don’t know how to handle raw fish in such a humid environment. You will be sick. We ended up leaving everything on the table as it was cold and inedible.
This is a must try place in Dar! Everything is excellent; the ambiance, food, service and prices. We enjoyed being by the sea while having seafood. There was also live music which made the experience even more enjoyable. We had drinks which tasted delicious. The fish tacos had a unique taste, definitely worth it. We also got red snapper and surf and turf. The steak was a little chewy but the seafood was great! Will come back when in town. There is also adequate seating for big and small groups!
The place had an awsome view of the sea with fresh breeze.Food: cheddar melt chicken was very delicious, compliments to the chef.Grilled red snapper however wasnt up to our expectations. Fish wasnt fresh and soft as I expected. It was bit bland. Tip: salt and pepper would make it more tastier.I would like to appreciate Mr John for his hospitality and taking the review of food positively. I am sure our next visit to this place shall be much more better
Live band was fantastic, loved every moment of it! The ambiance was perfect. I was skeptical to order pizza but I was very hungry and since beef or chicken skewers (mishikaki) arent on the menu, I decided to take the plunge and order the beef and chicken pizza. Its was delicious.....or maybe I was just starving. I went and complimented the chef who told me the Hawaiian pizza is favorite for most people. So I guess I have to return at some point to try it out.
Ive got a fetish for good food and this place gets me hot! Everything from the starters to the entrees to the desserts meshed perfectly with my flavor-profile. I found the ambiance to be very charming. With an amazing sunset view, cool ocean breeze. The place is classy and elegant so food & drinks are abit expensive....come prepared 🤗This is definitely a spot Ill be frequenting.
The service is *lightning* quick. There is an excellent ratio of staff to customers, which means ordering a new drink or getting the bill are utterly effortless. Wait-staff switch readily through English, Swahili and Afrikaans. The cocktails were good, the vibe was better - hustle-bustle and ocean views. Come for the service, the energy and the relaxed feel. If they land a great drink, all to the good. Ill be back.
Dont have to say the place is really beautful and with amazing view. Visited I afternoon for lunch the food was amazing even the drinks. A seafood lover should surely visit this place. The drinks option was amazing and was perfect blend. The staff is very friendly and they suggest good food as per your taste requirement.
The ambiance was just calming, the scenery is just beautiful with that sunset into the ocean, the food was delicious, exquisite service from the place, great place for family and friends, you can sit by the ocean with a nice breeze or the air conditioned room which still has an ocean view. The bar serves a variety of nice drinks which I enjoyed very much, the place offers competitive prices for the and drinks.
Great place! Its very expensive but totally worth it for a special occasion. We ordered a seafood platter and sushi. The sushi takes the prize, it was amazing!!! And then for dessert a coulant which also was incredible.Friendly staff as well and beautiful place.
It been a sad day for me today. I went to Cape town fish market to set beside the beach and do some work but wasted my time going all the way there. Incidentally i met the manager and requested for a place sit where there is electricity so I can charge my laptop and do some work but they had no place except the bar. I cant sit at the bar and wanted to sit next to the beach view. So I went to sit there and requested for electricity extension but the worker response that it wasnt possible (even though they could have easily been able to procure such item). I requested to speak to the Manager but he just sent the worker back to me even though i can see him there. I didnt appreciate that. I closed my laptop decided to leave.I am blessed to be a person who manages teams in 10 countries and if a person require my help and service, I would go above and beyond to serve a customer or even as a manager meet with the customer and humbly apologies. My advise, treat each customer with love and respect. Instead of the Manager humbly apologies, he wanted to show that I am wrong. I maybe wrong but I am at Slipway sitting there the whole day and enjoying the meal, view and service they are providing. And maybe a regular customer here than at Cape Town fish market.I am willing to remove this comment after visiting Capetown Fish Market again in a few days and see if there is any improvement.
Still lovely. The attention was adequate with staff that are quick in addressing you. Their cooking was beautiful and so was their presentation amd menu. You can see the effort they still put in for their customers.
Basically what happened was that I came to the restaurant with a friend of mine for happy hour. This was on Thursday 30th December 2021. The host who welcomed us seemed displeased and insisted that we had to order food to get seated at a certain location (even though we already had planned on doing so). We finally sit down and another waitress comes to attend to us after a good 15 min. She then harshly repeated that we had to order food to which we calmly explained to her that we were waiting for others and that the plan was to have dinner and drinks (while of course taking advantage of the happy hour). We got our watered down cocktails, picked out our food from the menu but nobody came to get our food order or to even ask if we needed our refills. This lasted for a good 45 minutes. At this point our other friends were late to arrive and so it was just the two of us. When I called the waitress who took our drink order to attend to us she simply took out her phone and showed us the time: 19:47; to tell us that happy hour was over (basically signaling that we must leave). I complained to her that the food menus were still on the table and that not once did anyone attend to us or even notice the huge menus still on our table. This waitress rolled her eyes and told me that she was actually serving another table so it doesnt really concern her. She then pointed to the waiter of that section, his name was Waziri. This same waiter was happily serving the next table & did not once turn to even acknowledge us; not even to take the empty glasses which had been sitting there for ages Not once did I hear an apology from either of them. In fact I distinctly remember Waziris name because he arrogantly showed me his name on his badge so that I may report him.The cherry on top was when we heard a team of waiters talking about us. I know it was us they were referring to because they specifically mentioned my complaint and one of them mentioned that it is difficult to deal with customers who lack education.I really hope that this branch does something about the attitude of their servers as I did not even wish to speak to a supervisor just due to the overall feeling that we were not welcome there. As for me I will not be returning and neither will I convince any of my friends or acquaintances to come. Such a terrible experience!
Live music and great food, but the seafood platter that we ordered didnt come with rice even though it said so in the menu. Then they brought like two spoons of rice XD
Not up to the high standard of the Stone Town Zanzibar property, while food and service are Ok, i do not understand need of 10-12 Staff & waiters just seating by the cashing machine.. chatting, playing phone etc altogether..thus next to guests dining. The property isnt also as well maintained, clean and welcoming as the Newer Joint in Stone Town.
Place is very goodPerfect view to the oceanBand in the evening change the atmosphereFood is not the perfectDrinks is goodHigh prices
Great starters. Good, efficient service. Utterly disappointing mains. The 500g T-bone steak is about as thick as a chapati. Next time will order more starters and skip the main course.
Its a cool and nice place, enjoying the ocean breeze with good customer services, live band every weekend, should not miss
After struggling a couple of days of finding good food in Dar a Salam. We came across this place and loved food ambiance music. Muy muy recomendable.
If youre looking for great sushi, you have to come here and try the delicious creations made by Robert and his team. An experience not to miss!Update: I came back with the idea of having a platter of the great sushi. The taste great as always, but the portions not what Im used to. The disappointment came with the drinks. Asked for a Moscow mule and another gin-based cocktail and there was no alcohol. The guests in the next table mentioned it as well. Very disappointed! 😞☹️
We loved itThe place is clean including toilets. The food is excellent with variety of choices and superb view. Reasonable prices and top service. There is bar and also sushi in addition to sea food. Uber service available. The chef in duty Mr Loius took a lot of trouble to prepare my special food. What I like about him he was honest on his response and genuinely served the type of cooking i wanted. Great place
Best fish restaurant in DarWe had the Hout Bay Platter which was excellent.Lobster, squid, octopus, prawns, fish cake and tilapia fillet. At TZS 159,000 it represents very good value to 2 persons.Located by the sea this restaurant has excellent views and the small fishing boats coming and going adds to the atmosphere.Highly recommended.
Had a superb experience at Cape town fish market for my sisters birthday. I especially loved how the band made everyone celebrating their birthday feel special by giving them their attention for a few. It didnt Matter how many times they did it throughout the night. Every cake cutting ceremony had a ceremonious attention. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The meal was amazing! Great customer care and veeeery trustworthy staff....so I forgot my 2 phones tonight, noticed like 30mins later, a friend called my number, a guy picked it up, I answered a few questions and went back to pick them up, after answering a few more qstn he remembered me and I finally got my 2 phones...Forever THANKFUL! Sitawahi sahau 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Fabulous view, Attentive service, and good foodCape Town Fish Market is a lovely, upscale restaurant and bar. We had a wonderful dinner while enjoying a stunning sunset. Tables are primarily outside, and we were ale to score a table right next to the bay. We were seated promptly and our drink order was placed immediately. The menu is extensive with a strong focus on (of course) seafood.Ambiance: Lovely, modern, clean lines and takes full advantage of the location, right next to the bay. Playing to the higher end customers, lots of xpats and foreigners. The sunset was lovely!Service: Fast and attentive. Regular checkins. However, ordering was a little difficult. One of my pals wanted a Gray Goose Martinti. It was on the menu. After serveral back and forths we came to find out there was no Gray Goose. Not clear why this took so long to figure out..?Food: Presentation was lovely. Flavors were excellent. Serving sizes were OK.Prices: on the high side, but sensible given the venue and level of service. All in all: A nice dinner for a treat.
Exclusive restaurant for dinner. Dining area is well decorated and placed with harbour view facing west side extraordinarily for sunset. Service is friendly and timely manner. Seafood is really nice and probably we had best cooking way in Tanzania. I do really like to way putting prawns inside lobster, really enjoyable as prawn& lobster lover. Chicken tortilla is also well made, proving they are not just a seafood restaurant. Absolutely a worthy visiting again restaurant.
Completely overrated!!! Paella is fried rice , it doesnt come in the pan its cooked, its bulk cooked then put on a pan and heated!!! Value for money is zero 0000, try Hamu and you will understand what a rip of this place is.
Our host raved about this place and my expectations were really high.We ordered a platter for two. They didn’t have mussels so they substituted with shrimps. The shrimps were in a white sauce that was rather bland. The calamari was a little too chewy.Fish was over cooked. The restaurant has a great view of the ocean.Service is great, nice friendly staff.
Great cuisine, live band on weekends, amazing place to go on a date in Dar es salaam
The atmosphere is great, the squid dish was bad, its serving and taste was bad. The sushi was awesome and very tasteful. The disturbing thing is that the toilets are discussing. No maintenance even after I told staff twice that the toilets were discussing. This is unacceptable for a high standard place. Otherwise 4 stars.
Dont get me wrong, I like the restaurant a lot. The food is good and the view is beautiful especially in the end of the day. But as a frequent client (I go there at least once every 15 days) there is something that really annoys me. I usually go there with friends to enjoy the Happy Hour, have a few drinks then eat dinner. We bring our own reusable straws every time and insist that we dont want any straws with the cocktails and yet, at least 3 times it happened that the waiter forgot it. And there we were with 8 plastic straws that we tried so hard to avoid using! Why put 2 plastic straws in each cocktail anyway? Or why automatically put straws at all? If the client really wants it, let them ask for it instead of forcing them to use plastic they dont want or need in the first place. The photo attached was taken at the restaurant and shows clearly where all this waste will end up one way or another. If the restaurant team has a minimum of environmental consciousness, please, do something about it! It will not only be good for the environment it will be good for your budget too!
One of top and classic restaurant in Dar es salaam,If you want to have enjoyment of cocktails, sushi and big variety of styles of seafood , either grilled or fryed here is the place to be.As well as live band , from Friday up Sunday. and it one of the few places in Dar to view sunset over looking the bay.
One of the greatest place I have ever been , food is way more than good If you love seafood then this is a perfect place for you to be.
A very good place to chill especially on Sundays but you can go any day in a week.Myself, I normally go to Cape Town on Sundays
As a cape town fish market lover ,I was so disappointed when I got my food today . I paid 130,000tsh for sushi and pasta that I normally have at the restaurant and the pasta was not as it should be ,I couldn’t have a second bite and soy sauce was mixed with some oil and water so I couldn’t even eat the sushi , I was really looking forward to my meal and am writing this because I called the restaurant to explain and they just hanged up on me so hopefully someone who can do something about it can see this
Great place for a casual drink or some great seafood / sushi. Relaxed atmosphere by the seaside
I had the fish and chips and it was delicious. Great sea food and located next to the ocean with a great sea breeze.
Best place to hangout with family and friends. The food variety is amazing. Keep on visiting.
Fine food and a good, but pricey white wine selection. Still worth it
I always visit Capetown fishmarket every Sunday for lunch and evening beer. Sometimes alone and sometimes with friends... they have an entertaining live band😊, i like the babu who sings the English songs etc....me and my friends always enjoy the ocean side table. But sometimes when am alone i chose to stay indoors - to enjoy the air conditioning 😊 and freshest sushi in dar😋 and other days at the counter watching football and enjoying the sea breeze. I just want to say that, in addition to a nice meal, they have good attendants (waiters) with right balance of friendliness and efficiency. Kudos!👍👍👍👍
A must visit while in Dar Es Salam. The food is very tasty and the live band on weekends is a top draw.
I really enjoy the pizza 🍕😋 in this place (not a fan of seafood, but I hear they have excellent options)
Disgusting service tbh, very disappointed they served us terrible sea food that made me gag and my friend puke within minutes and the manager didn’t even bother to come see what was the issue and we still got charged full price of the meals, we will not be coming back.
The place is amazing.. what i loved more was the view,. Especialy at night it gorgeous
I had a kind of platter. Image of prawns in menu is very different from the actual prawn which is very small. The taste of prawn was terrible! I could not eat it. I had also prawn salad. It was just a prawn salad with mayonnaise. The prawn in the salad was also bad taste. Sushi was not so bad but I’ll never come this place again.
Great variety in menu, service and dining experience with a beach side view. Exceptional seafood
Nice than ever, live band a so romantic, sea breeze, good hospitality for staff
Beautiful spot and atmosphere by the sea. Good service. Pretentious menu, specially the Japanese dishes. If u r looking for nice sushi or sashimi this is not your place. Great for a drink.
Venue is fab, food is great.Beautiful view of the sea, this restaurant sits on the beach. Live music on the night was too good! Its quite a busy location and got filled on the night I visited. Food was great quality - something made from calamari & fish - but I must admit that the quantity was quite disappointing. Perhaps its what I ordered. Nevertheless this is definitely a place to hang out when you are in Dar es Salaam.
If you want good food, this is not the place. nice staff though
Has everything to be great! Food is good, but can be better, service good and fast.
Good vibes, good food. To avoid crowds go there during week nights/evenings and not on Friday or the weekend.
Great food and entertainment. Love this place with local and international community.
Visited on 13th Feb 2022 prawns were spoiled, steaks tasteless. Very sad
Certainly one of the best if not the best place for sundowners. It has an incredible ocean view with a beautiful sunset most of the time. Be sure to catch their happy hour, and if you can handle it, go for the long islands. The most value for money drink on their menu aside from being the best long islands I have had in the city. The passion fruit blast and the CTFM sundowner are also worth trying. I found their moscow mule to be to light on the alcohol though. If you’re a seafood lover then the sea food platter is definitely worth trying too!
