I did a 7 day yoga retreat with Heather and had an awe-inspiring time practicing yoga in the natural settings of Tanzania. Waking up early on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater to practice yoga was definitely one of the most empowering moments in my life. I recommend this yoga safari to any yoga lover. It’s a magical experience.
Great trip and great guide! Claud kept us entertained with facts throughout the trip, was able to answer every question I had, and knew the name for whatever I was pointing at. I wanted to see a little of everything - not just animals - so did the 11-day historical, natural and agricultural tour. The tour lived up to all my expectations. Not sure what to see in Tanzania, here are some highlights from my trip: elephants in Tarangire, cave-paintings of Kondoa, Morogoro, and the ancient Muslim Shirazi settlement of Kaole, grape and orange farms in Dodoma. Driving across the country to the coast of the Indian Ocean was spectacular. It also gave us the chance to learn about the country more intimately rather than just a safari. I learned a ton about local tobacco, pineapple and coconut production, which was really interesting.
I did a 5 day tour of Tanzanias famous paeloarcheological sites with game drive and cultural tours within the Northern Safari Circuit. I was shoked by the amount of information I was presented about the evolution of hominins in East Africa to the later migrations accounting for the local tribal entities of Tanzania. I was very pleased with my experience.
My friends and I volunteered in Arusha with Evolved Safari yoga volunteer program at Neo Minds Community Center. We stayed with Saitot and Baraka and taught yoga and natural foods for healing to elementary children. We spent a lot of time gardening and visiting and trading ideas with neighboring farmers. The village of Sikei is a beautiful neighborhood and I can’t wait to return once I graduate.
I did the 3-Day Cultural tour where I visited a Maasai medicine men, did a game drive of Ngorongoro Crater, learned about the Iraqw tribe in Karatu, and topped it off with Hunting with the Hadzabe, one of the wildest and fun experiences of my life! Its great to know that my visit to these villages help to preserve and promote their cultural heritage.
I did the 7 Day Yoga safari with Heather. It was so much fun and I met the most awesome group of yogis. I cant wait to go back!
