Best and cheapest meal I’ve had in Zanzibar so far! Soup for 2000 with a sugarcane juice for 1000. Hard to beat considering most hotels charge 4000 for just a coke!

Best Urojo in town! My office is in the Old Dispensary so if I want a quick meal to bring back to my office, I come here with my lunch box. But you can also eat here as they have benches. For tsh 2,000 (less than $1.50!) you can have yourself a complete meal!

It’s a must try when you are in Zanzibar to try Urojo it’s a very delicious soup where you add a variety of toppings and chilies. Make sure to add mishkaki as well. I highly recommend Urojo @ Jitini.

Nice place bristling with locals, friendly guy took my order and before the local who jumped the queue and and stood infront of me.Being from England, wanted to give him a piece of my mind but instead I imagined tapping him on the shoulder and saying excuse me sir, but the queue starts behind meHad a Zanzibar mix, didnt add any of the sauces or condiments the locals were adding but it was really delicious and spicy enough as it was. Head next door afterwards and have an amazing sugar cane juice drink with lemon and ginger !

Ive never had this dish before but I will definitely be going back. It was full of flavour and had a wide variety of ingredients including falafel, beef skewers, potato, crunchy something or other, egg. And I got a roti too. All for 2,500 - about €1.It is a very basic shack with concrete benches and a single table with home made sauces (I assume) served from old plastic bottles. They only do this one dish although I assume you could buy the ingredients separately, like the beef skewers.

Jitini’s urojo is just amazing. The mix is phenomenal when added with a lot of toppings such as kachori, cubed potatoes, etc. Definitely make sure to add mishkaki ( beef skewers) and don’t forget the coconut chutney. I definitely will be back to try more.

Small tureen for locals. Barely found on the navigator. I found myself near the embankment, but the navigator is not looking for easy ways ...The local spicy soup is delicious. The room is tiny, instead of chairs along the perimeter there is a step (painted) along the wall. This is a common chair. You hold the plate in your hands. The only table is filled with different spices and sauces, choose and add what you want. You can also go outside with a plate or take a take-away container. The prices are cheap. The place is very popular with the locals.
