Very interesting museum about the life of Freddy Mercury. He had British citizenship and his family fled to England to escape the violence of the Zanzibar Revolution. He became a leader singer for the band “Smile” and in 1970 he changed the name to Queen which became one of the best selling albums of all time

The most uplifting thing in Stone Town. Only one of the historic or significant place worthy of a visit that has been upgraded to meet up with modern tastes. Its a tribute to the legend, with pictures and stories of Freddie Mercurys childhood and rise to fame as front man for Queen. With his songs playing in the background, this museum is worth every penny of the $8 paid for it. What will a trip to Zanzibar be without stopping to see where their most famous export was born and raised?

10$ entrance for an exhibition smaller than my hotel room. Im lifelong Queen fan but this is one of the worst tourist traps I ever seen. This is clearly an insult to one of the most celebrated people of the island.

Totally overpriced. For 8 USD pp you can see museum smaller than hotel room. Not autentic house, only 1 plasterboard room with some photos and some information you can find on Wikipedia for free.

The overall experience in the museum was good. It was interesting to see Freddie’s childhood, some of his works up on the wall and a bit about the influence he had on other artists. While it wasn’t a robust collection about him, I enjoyed it. The only reason why I gave it a 4 star was that it seemed a bit pricey for what you saw.

The house where Farrokh Bulsara aka Freddy Mercury was born and spent the first couple of years of his life. Could have been any other random house with photos od Freddy Mercury. Very few, if any authentic and original artifacts. Not worth the 10 usd admission price.

I am ardent fan of Freddie Mercury and a Zoroastrian, eager to see this Museum and what a disappointment they charge USD 10 per person to read something which is available on net, there was nothing new for Queen fan to know about it, neither his memorabilia. 30 % of museum talks about Stone Town which every one on island knows another 25% of museum talks about Zoroastrian culture of Zanzibar and finally front cover of his records cover the space, there are few letters n notes from Queen but they are place so awful space ( at knee level) that you need to squat to read those letters or so high that you need to stool ( dont know why they are kept at such an odd place) and that too a small wall is allocated. Except for such notes i dont think this place is worth a visit. i was out in 12 minutes flat and when i reach exit i was shock what its all over. A one of the perfect scam place in Stonetown.

I like to be surrounded by splendid things. - Freddie MercuryAs our beloved Freddie once said, he loves to be surrounded by splendid things, and this museum is nothing short of splendid. Me and my children were given a warm welcome as we entered, and heartwarming smiles throughout our whole journey in the museum. Which is not always the case in other museums, so full marks to all the staff, it was appreciated and seemed genuine. The museum located on Shangani Street, which was just a 5 minute walk from the hotel was staying at, was nothing short of remarkable. As soon as I entered, I heard the echoes of Radio Ga Ga bellowing at my eardrums, and was delighted by the pleasant ambience which the museum encompassed. It truly was a journey down memory lane, as I descoved our beloveds Freddie upbringing and road to stardom.Would highly reccomend a visit if you are in Zanzibar, 100% a must for any Queen fan.I always knew I was a star And now, the rest of the world seems to agree with me. - Freddie Mercury

Were in January 2021.The house is a museum, entrance is paid $ 8-10, but there is no point in visiting it. There are several photos and some papers inside, nothing more. Outside, it is more interesting and mysterious than inside.Freddie Mercury was born on September 5, 1946 in Zanzibar in the oldest district of the islands capital - Stone Town. Real name - Farrukh Balsara. He and his family were Parsis (a rare ethnic group in Southeast Asia - India and Pakistan, of Iranian origin). Farrukh Balsara lived in Zanzibar until he was eight, after which his family sent him to study in India near Bombay.Already at school, Farrukh began to call himself Freddie and, in addition to sports and painting, showed great interest in music. At the age of 12, he and four of his friends created the group The Hectics (Consumptive), which played mainly rock and roll at school parties. Failing the final exam, at the age of 16, Farrukh returned to Tanzania to Zanzibar.

Home of the lead singer of Queen Freddie Mercury. Inside is a small museum, where there is nothing to see except photographs and a small amount of printed information. Some information is presented on the stands on the facade of the building. Located within walking distance from the embankment and the old fort. Entrance fee $ 8.

It will not attract to a full-fledged museum. Just the place where the Genius was born and lived for a while.

Freddie Mercury House Museum, where he was born and lived for the first eight years of his life. On the facade of the building there are several photographs of Freddie Mercury and quotes from his statements: I dont want to be a star, I want to be a legend. Inside the museum, entrance fee is $ 8. The museum displays his photographs. From the time he lived there, almost nothing has survived. The museum sells Freddie Mercury-related souvenirs at high prices. I dont see much point in going inside, its worth taking a photo against the background of the facade of this building. Be careful, there is heavy traffic on the street.

Mercury House is located in the center of Zanzibar City. At the same time, the house where Farrukh Bulsara was born, whom the whole world knows under the name of Freddie Mercury, does not stand out in any way, so you can only recognize it by the sign at the entrance and small stands with Freddies photographs. And although Zanzibar cannot boast of a large number of celebrities born here, the house where Mercury was born is of interest exclusively to tourists. Surprisingly, locals disapprove of Freddie Mercury
