It is an old house with 3 floors, located very close to the ferry exit and 5 minutes walk from the main attractions of the city. Maybe it is a bit difficult to find but it is totally safe and people will help you locate it.The room was clean with a lovely bed. The entire hotel is decorated in Swahili design (the ancient African art of wood carving).Breakfast is correct (served on the roof) and friendly staff. They helped us rent a car at a good price. Good option if you dont have high budget.

The location was great. The staff were Fantastic, the rooms were beautiful with an ancient look...my children and I loved the place... but their bathrooms need serious maintenance. Some of the pipes were not working. Some pipes had hot water but not cold. some were so rusty that they couldnt close..so water dripped continuously. Overall...their plumbing needs serious maintenance.

Recommend. Excellent value for money and quality. The hotel is in an old building, the whole interior is thematic. If you bargain the price will be 85000 shillings per room. CROWN is more expensive and worse. Hes near 30 meters

Nice staff, the room was offered to choose from. I understand that there are few guests. The air conditioner works well. The only thing in the morning annoys the noise of people.

If you are on a budget finding a decent hotel / guesthouse in Stone Town can be a bit tricky as hotels (beautifully decorated in Swahili style) have proliferated for big pockets.I found Pyramid Hotel by chance and I think I was not wrong in my choice. It is an old house with 3 floors, located very close to the ferry exit and 5 minutes walk from the main attractions of this charming city.It may be a bit difficult to find but it is totally safe and people will help you locate it. In any case, the hotel pickup from the ferry is free. The price for the double room without air conditioning is usually 40 USD with breakfast (I think it is possible that by coming directly and asking you can lower the price in low season ...), although I think it is interesting to take a look at the rooms first because they are very different in terms of size and lighting. However, they are all very clean and the beds are spacious and comfortable and lovely, being Swahili in style. The rooms have a fan. I was in the month of August and I did not need the air conditioning at all, nor the hot water, the temperature was perfect. It is appreciated that amenities are provided (shampoo, gel and toothbrush), something that does not usually happen in hotels of this type of budget.Breakfast is correct: eggs, coffee and tea, toast and fruit served on the pleasant roof terrace. In addition, in the afternoon they also usually have free spiced tea from the island for those who want to have a quiet time. They have free wifi throughout the hotel, which works very well. The most important thing of all is that the hotel staff is super friendly, pleasant and legal. They helped us to rent a scooter to tour the island through an agency with which we had no problem for less than 20 USD per day picking it up and returning it at the hotel. We had the opportunity to test various types of motorcycles and choose the one that we liked the most. Before we had compared prices and this is really what they used to offer us.Finally, they kept our backpacks for us for 4 days while we dedicated ourselves to exploring other parts of Zanzibar at no cost and without anything happening to them.Honestly, if I go back to Stone Town, I would stay here again.

Safari ripoffBooking a Zanzibar mainland safari through the Hotel Pyramid is strongly discouraged.Hotel Pyramid does not carry out the safaris itself but instructs safari companies on the mainland. Thus, the hotel acts only as a mediator and cashed off.Unfortunately we followed the recommendation of the hotel manager Solomon from the hotel La Madrugada and contacted Ali Baba from the hotel Pyramid in Stonetown. The tugboat (Ali Baba) before beginning the safari at the Hotel Pyramid initially received completely overpriced airfares from Zanzibar to Arusha ($ 355 per person roundtrip), then booked low cost flights with Bilig Airlines (Tropical Airways, Flightlink) and brought us personally to Arusha to cash in there after an ATM tour. The safari was offered to us by Ali Baba for $ 750 per person (4-day camping safari in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater) plus flights from Zanzibar to Arusha and back ($ 355).The organization of the safari was a disaster:- agreed start of safari has been postponed to increase profits by booking cheaper airline tickets- Instead of the agreed 4-day safari we received an ATM tour in Arusha and only a 3-day safari- instead of the agreed safari in the Serengeti the safari went only to the border of the Serengeti, Ali Baba saved thereby the parking fees for the Serengeti and kept these for themselves- no card payment possible- no receipts- no clearly defined safari program- Return tickets were issued only after payment of the safari bill- after the advance payment of the safari the tug was no longer available- Promised taxi for the airport transfer did not appear- dubious, arrogant, offensive rip-offs that solidified the image of the countrydamage and be held accountableIf you want to book a safari from Zanzibar, you should book low-cost domestic flights and book the safari on-site from Arusha at one of about 75 safari companies- Simple flights on Tropical Airways or Flightlink bookable from $ 50- In the low season during the rainy season you can book safaris in Arusha for about 160-170 dollars per person per day in Arusha.
