Absolutely wonderful food, atmosphere and service! We had the veggie combo for 3, 8, 11. The Misir Wot was worth the price of dinner alone. I also had a gin drink with lemon and honey that was up there with my favorite drink, ever.I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area!
Ive had Ethiopian food in many countries around the world, and this was the least tasty out of all. I ordered the Doro Wot and a lentil dish and both tasted too strongly of vinegar. It was very expensive for small portions and not great quality. Exchange rate was pretty bad when I paid in usd. I also think inCovid times allowing smoking, even outdoors, is not safe or health conscious, but it seems like its very normal in Zanzibar and at least I think they might have a non - smoking section.

If you are ever in Stone Town do yourself a favour and eat at Abyssinian. The food is beyond this world, and so are the many slushies, especially the hibiscus one. Make sure not to eat a lot before because you will not be able to stop. If you are in a group order one of the combos. I especially recommend the vegetarian ones. The staff is friendly and the place is cozy. A must stop!!
Tasty food and juices/cocktails. There are both seatings inside and outside. We came for second time as we really liked the soft drink cocktails. We looked forward to the open buffet which they promoted outside the restaurant, but when we arrived to the restaurant the stuff suddenly didn’t know anything about the open buffet (this was for New Years evening) which was quite disappointing.
Incredible food. Fantastic location right next to the court in a beautiful area of Stone Town. Very delicious. You have to eat here if you come to Stown Town.
I hate giving bad reviews. This could have been 1 star. We waited for our food for nearly two hours with no update. Eventually we were told the kitchen only had one cook (on a Friday night). After 90 minutes we were told the dishes were ready but the injera bread wasn’t. The food is supposed to be eaten with your hands using the bread to scoop the food up. Another 15 minutes passed and I had the money in my hand to pay for the drinks and leave when the food arrived. It was delicious of course, but a two hour wait is inexcusable.
Sitting here right now. Best food in stonetown. Veg friendly. Gotta love the misir wot. 10/10 would recommend to friends and family.
The food is authentic. If you close your eyes with some kitfo in your mouth you can see the Dandera river!
I went there a bit hungry and curious and with the very polite question if I could please wash my hands, in times of COVID this should not be a problem at all. I was quite bluntly told I should pay one dollar for that. I said “wow” and left.In a restaurant that denies me entering the place with washed hands I wouldn’t like to eat. No surprise this place was completely empty.
The food has been continuously salty for my liking and the food takes forever coming to the table but otherwise it is ok
Fantastic food in Ethiopian style- great for vegetarians. Downside slower service but still within the norms in Zanzibar.
We ate here this evening. The food was delicious and wholesome. The presentation of the food was attractive. The fruit juices offered had unusual and good combinations. The strong Ethiopian coffee was accompanied by a small bowl of popcorn and incense powder that we burned on the hot charcoal provided. This gave us a lovely end to our meal.
I have had Ethiopian food around the world and the food here was was a very mediocre example of what is usually wonderful cuisine. Furthermore, the service was inattentive and disinterested in the customers. To top off our experience they refused to take our credit card (neither Mastercard nor Visa even though they have a sign posted saying that they accept both) and offered a terrible exchange rate on USD. Please do yourself a favor and eat elsewhere.
Prices higher than Europe, crazy!! we are in Tanzania guys!! when their neighbours is hunger dying.. food is ok but nothing special. Honestly i spend better time at the night market! i will never returned there :(
Authentic dishes served in a green and serene outdoor area in a more quiet area. The avocado salad and the house specialty salad paved the way to our delicious meal. The main dishes (between 22.000 and 30.000 TZS) are made with beef, chicken, lamb and normally also fish and different types of vegetables so you can put something together that suits your taste. When we got there, they did, however, not have any fish which felt a bit weird. Also we decided not to opt for a menu when we realized that apart from fish also some other options were not available. This turned out to be good as the salads and one dish per person were really enough. We very much liked the taste and the service was nice, too. So a thumbs up from us.
Perfect place to relax and have an amazing traditional ethiopian dish in the middle of the agitated Stone Town. Good value for the money.
Saw the restaurant as I was walking past. The sitting area is really nice outside but then the rain came so we went inside. The service is excellent, the food price is decent but the size are really small. Didnt like the food taste at all, I got the meal deal and I felt the 3 dish tasted the same. Very light meal. they will bring you bucket so you dont have to go and wash your hand. Customer Service 5/5 Facilities 4/5 Food 2/5 Price 4/5 Location 5/5
Food was good, bread was a bit strange, like sponge, waiter was unfriendly.
The first time I went here, the food was great.. the next two times, the injera tasted cardboard-like, the misir was salty and the gomen was okay. The music is good, location, general atmosphere and the staff are nice, though hence the 3 stars
Great place for real Ethiopian food! Get the combo meal, you get to try lots of different curries served on a huge flatbread. Very tasty and lots of veggie options!
Top-notch Ethiopian food in Zanzibar stone town! I have only had Ethiopian food once before, and this place did not disappoint. Be prepared to eat with your hands family-style! Super fun for a group.
Excellent food, great service, some dishes a bit pricey compare to other restaurants, but really enjoyed the Ethiopian food here, and the coffe amazing! Tottally recommended!
Great Ethiopian restaurant near the Stone Town beach. My wife and I sat outside in their garden and it was nice and peaceful. The food was amazing! I definitely recommend going hear for some delicious Ethiopian eats!
Absolutely amazing food, so so so good and so wonderfully presented! Best place in Stone Town to eat.
Excellent authentic Ethiopian food, abit pricy on the drinks but I feel its well worth it.
Fantastic place, very hospitable management, excellent choices of dishes, try fruit juices to wake up your taste buds, a place to remember, recommend it very much, definitely will revisit again.
Amazing place to visit. Serbian nature wonder in short. You can also see there Griffon Ventures. Amazint birds to see in close. Ar Molitva place they fly very near you
We arrived to see a couple complaining about being extorted as they had US dollars only to pay and decided to eat here anyway. We had a good but somewhat expensive meal here and were ready to leave this evening when we were presented with our bill. We had been assured we could pay it with our credit card. Then we found out that a surcharge of 5% was added to the bill, mind you without any mention of this before by anyone or this being written anywhere. We then proceeded to try to pay even with this charge, and the machine did not work. The owner then told us we had to pay in the limited cash we had, and when we told her that it was better to pay in euros or USD gave us completely unfair rates despite this being her error rather than ours. She basically forced us to pay a massive surcharge without acknowledging any of her responsibility here.We ended up paying more than 15$ than what we owed just to quell the nuisance. The owner is completely unprofessional and we would advise no one to go to this restaurant.
Yummy food in an authentic style. Very fun.
One of my favourite restaurants in Zanzibar. The food is always great and the staff are very friendly.
Money thirsty restaurant! Avoid at all cost! Im saying this as an Ethiopian! They force you to pay in a very bad exchange! They even refused to take our five dollar bills because apparently its old
The food was good, however, really not good enough for the money. The dollar exchange rate was ridiculous and the service made me feel unwelcome. Overall I felt it was overpriced for the experience
Nice place and good staffs, only thing is they dont have real brown enjera. This a bit disappointed. Good options for vegetarian and vegan food
Good Ethiopian food. If its your first time, try the coffee with popcorn. They also have tasty juices.
Quite ok! A nice experience with the children! Cozy and authentic atmosphere (ethiopian style).Friendly staff, delicious food efficient service.
Nice restaurant with nice Ethiopian menu and kind people to chat with while enjoying your food
Bad experience, served food, after 10 minutes the owner was hash to customers. She puts lights off while customers were eating their meals
Delicious Ethiopian Food, very quiet place
Ethiopian best restaurant in stone town
I missed Ethiopian food that why i didnt mind to pay 30000TAnzanian shilings, but i think the food 25000TSH is not worth i think.
Nice place, but meat was not good. All vegetarian dishes was nice.
Great food in a lovely setting. Expect to pay above average rate, but worth it.
The food was good but very expensive for what you get.
Very nice Ethiopian food. A bit pricier than other places in Stone Town.
Good Ethiopian food.Lack of spectacular view takes away the ambience.
Ethiopian food is delicious and wholesome, service wonderful

Ok If you like to eat with your fingers😎
Pretty authentic. Coffee with popcorn, from which my heart almost jumped)They brought a pot on a cake, offered to wash their hands, dumped the contents of the pot on the cake and left. I vaguely guessed that they eat it with their hands, like no one was laughing) the flat cake is cool, sour and like a sponge. In general, its cool and very naughty, but in the picture it looks richer than in fact.Card is accepted, + 5% to the price
