Mitus spice tour was not worth the money at all. First they where an hour late to pick us up. The tour was very short and basic and there was no tasting or smelling. The tour guide did his job with no enthousiasme. After the tour we got a lunch, some rice with a sauce that must be curry with a sour taste (hygiene?). There are definately better organisations to do this tour with. Eveline, an unsatisfied Belgium girl

Mitu spice tours walking tour around Stone Town was by far the worst program that Ive ever been on to, for my whole life. My tour guide, upon arrival, turned out to be UNLICENSED. He would buy a bottled water, throw it out, and refill it with a vodka, and would drink on the streets during the tour. He did not have a front teeth, which is not a problem per se, but would mumble and was hard to listen. So when I could not understand what he was saying and asked him to repeat, he would mumble again and command at me Do you get what Im saying?, which he wouldnt stop even though I told him to. These are only parts of the problems. I am heavily disappointed that the agency would sent out such a messed-up guide and think that they could slide by. Not even worth a star.

We booked the tour with Mr Mitu. It was agreed beforehand that the tour would last from 9.30 till 13.30. It included the guide, entrance fee and lunch. For starters the driver asked to pay 3$ pp. extra because entrance was not included (a lie, but it started to get uncomfortable so we just paid). The tour was on a community farm which was basically a staged experience for tourists where you are guided from shop to shop and where you are expected to tip everyone involved in the, sometimes very awkward, experience. We were finished quite quickly with the informational portion so were to be driven back to the city, skipping the included lunch. When Mr Mitu called he told me that the government told him he couldnt offer lunch and hung up the phone. We eventually received a plate of rice. Had to stop the guide because he walked away to leave us on the outskirts of town with the bill. DO NOT BOOK A TOUR HERE.
