Great service! Abdulwahid, the lad who works there, drove the car to our hotel. He was very friendly and genuinely nice person. The car itself was Toyota Rav 4, which is perfect for two ppl with luggage. Also, don’t be afraid to drive in the left line - you get used to it in 2-3 days, just drive carefully.

Awesome! Such a great experience. Mr. Kibabu is really honest and prompt with his replies and service. This has honestly been the most hassle free car rental experience.His agent was waiting for us at the airport on exit with a sign of our name. He handed over the car with all the valid and appropriate paperwork. If you send Mr. Kibabu a copy of your international drivers license in advance, he will make a Zanzibar temporary permit - which is required - for $10. On return he agreed to have the car picked up at the ferry port. We had a Toyota Rav 4 which was in pretty good condition and ran very smoothly with no hiccups. Some of the remote resorts have very unpaved, rough roads and the car was good for that. The car was spotlessly clean on the inside. The only minor downside maybe was that the car doesn’t have the fancy bells and whistles like USB or Bluetooth media players. But it was a negligible trade-off for us.The most important thing was the freedom that having a car afforded us! Taxis are quite expensive and will charge anywhere from $30-$100 for a one way trip depending on where you’re going. So having a car was not only a money saver but also a great way to explore the city. Mr. Kibabu replies very quickly on WhatsApp and his service was great. We rented the car for 3 days. Initially I mistook the rental period for 4 days but Mr. Kibabu happily refunded the cost of one day on the return of the car.10/10 would recommend Kibabu Cars Zanzibar if you plan on exploring the island amd not just stay cooped up in the resort.

We have rented a Suzuki Escudo for 10 days in January. An employee was waiting for us at the airport on arrival, even though the flight was delayed a bit and the visa process took more than 2 hours. He helped us to exchange TZ and to buy a Zantel SIM. Later, he gave me a Zanzibar driving permit, which is necessary to be allowed to drive on the island. Everything was sorted out ina few emails well in advance. We paid the price cash at the airport, no deposit was necessary. The car had a few dents and scratches, which is perfectly undertstandable, given the state of the roads. The paint had seen better days as well. From the mechanical point of view, the car was flawless. No problems at all during those 10 days. The perfectly working aircon was a blessing. On departure, a guy from Kibabu came to the airport to pick up the car as requested. We covered about 400 km during out holiday, have seen some police checkpoints, but were not stopped even once. The roads are pretty poor quality, main roads are in a pretty normal state, but as soon as you turn from the main road, you are in a realm of gravel, dirt and huge potholes. Luckily, the car was 4WD. Overall, it was a great trip, and Kibabu cars played a role. Highly recommended.

I found their whole team very trustable & honest to deal with.They organize everything including driving permit, help out with SIM card at the airport (they don’t sell themselves, just show vendors, away rom the airport will be much cheaper SIM card though) and wir with a sign for arrivals.This time, when I handed back the car their staff when a full extra mile for me. I desperately wanted to bring a few coconuts home with me but missed to buy some. I and my wife rented a car for a week. I booked online by submitting a signed booking form and paid by credit card. Upon arrival at the airport we were greeted by a member of the Kibabu Cars staff who was waiting for us with a sign saying my name. The car pick-up was quick and easy, it was parked in the parking lot at the exit from the airport. No security deposit has been requested. The car (a Toyota RAV 4) proved to be reliable for the duration of the rental, and was ideal for the streets of Zanzibar, which are not always well maintained. During the day you drive the car without problems, instead I strongly recommend not to drive during the night, even the most experienced drivers would find driving difficult. Definitely I can highly recommend Kibabu Cars, excellent quality / price ratio and reliability of the rented cars.

Absolutely fantastic service from Mr Kibabu and his team.Made first contact with the company off the website at around 0930 in the morning, and had a car and Zanzibar drivers permit delivered to my Hotel (over an hour away from the city).Got a 5 door Rav 4 for the price of a 3 door. The 7 and more day rate is the same as 5 days normal...and I even extended another 3 days as it was so handy to have a car.No mechanical issues whatsoever. Aircon was cold (even if the fan outlets were a little bit obstructed) and the little Rav was absolutely ideal for Zanzibar.I had to leave a day before my wife, and Mr Kibabu even did an airport transfer for my wife from our hotel for us, for half what the hotels charge.You hear some negative things about driving and renting is Zanzibar, but our experience was only positive.The roads are really good for a poor country. Other drivers are less so, with large trucks being incredibly reckless and dangerous.The traffic police at stops are super friendly and pleasant to deal with.All and all this experience convinced me not to even bother with anything but renting a car in Zanzibar next time.Just drive slowly and enjoy the scenery.Thank you Mr Kibabu and team. Realy good expirience- car(toyota rav4) was in perfect condition,if you plan to drive to some remote places,this is mimimum that you should take,roads are pretty bad...Company delivered car to the airport and picked it up in Stone town as agreed, they also fixed the case with police patrol which wanted to blackmail us.Strongly recomand!

I rented 5 doors Toyota RAV4 from them for almost 40 days. The price was better then in other places. I have had no technical problems with the car and also no problems during check in and check out. Comparing with other Zanzibar businesses this service is strong 5 stars :)

Highly recommend. We rented a car for 7 days without any issues what so ever. Kibabu contacted us by whatsapp immediately after we reserved the car. Getting a personal message from the guys made us really comfortable heading towards our adventures. Car was full of dents but it worked well for our purpose.

Kibabu Cars is the most amazing car rental company :)The car provided was a Toyota RAV 4 (2 doors) and it was the best choice for the island. The roads are tricky with a lot of holes and a lot of country roads, so a car like that is the best choice, otherwise you will probably get stuck or break the car.The staff was very friendly and more than helpful. They explained us a lot when giving the car, they gave us a map and answered all our questions.The car was not a new one, and had some scratches, but thats not a problem, the cars condition was very good.The battery drained out once and they came within 30 mins to recharge it, that was the only problem but apart from that their service was amazing.I definitely recommend Kibabu cars.

At first Kibabu rentals seemed really good; the car worked well. That was until we were stopped by the cops for driving an uninsured car. We were lucky and the cops where very helpful, unlike the manager who not only refused to compensate us for the day the car was uninsured but blatently lied to us, saying that the car was insured even though we saw the sticker.We were lucky and did not have any accidents but it could have been disastrous.Pay a little extra with a company that keeps customer safety in mind.

I picked the 30USD / day option- for the escudo- its a small 4dr 4x4 which can take you anywhere. It even has 4lo! AC worked perfectly and so did the Bluetooth radio. They usually give it with low gas so just fill up gas nearby

They rented us a car with an insurance that expired during our trip, and we got held up by the police. Afterwards, when we talked to the boss about it, he did not apologize or acknowledge the problems that it had caused us, but kept on denying that the license had expired (despite us having the proof in front of us). Yes, it is a good price, but I would never go to Kibabu again.

5/5 for this rental cars service Kibabu Cars. We have rent a car on august in Stone Town to visit the island of Zanzibar. We changed our plan to get the car and after sending a WhatsApp msg to the office, they adapted the meeting point to our plan, great. The car was perfect, big enought (4x4), good explanations, pictures of past accidents on the car before departure. We had a meeting point to leave the car to the port with a staff man, it was quick and easy.

Best decision made to rent the car from Kibabu. Excellent comunication skils from the begining. They met us at the airport, the car was nice and clean. Didnt have any problem to return the car. Great rental company!

Worked very well, we got the car delivered to and returned from Matemwe.We prepaid a full tank, but got it with a little less than half, but on the other hand it was an outage of gas on the island the days before so I guess they tried their best.Clean and spacious car.

The worst ever.High prices. Told me the car has options like AUX, Bluetooth etc. But actually nothing was true.Instead of that we got an old car in a really bad condotion which is definetely not safe to drive. All the cables were lose, so the Engine didnt start. We called the office and had to wait 3hours!!!!!! So that the driver can come to help. He refused to compensate us.In total: expensive, awful car, and very bad Service!Never again, not even for free.

Agreed a contract for a Toyota RAV4 and got an old, dirty Suzuki that handled very poorly. The roads are not the best so would really suggest finding a more reliable company that delivers what they promise. They also have a very dubious way of counting days. (One evening to next gets billed as 2 days already even if it’s 24 hours or less)

The rental is reliable, everything is clear and coordinated. The price is acceptable. After the delivery of the car, they do not find fault with scratches and the amount of fuel in the tank. I rented a car in Stone Town and returned it at the airport.Recommend:)

We rented the car with them during our stay in Zanzibar and the truth is that well, not the following.They waited for us at the exit of the airport and took us to the car, which was in the parking lot, there we checked the whole car and they gave us some guidelines. Guidelines such as what to do if the police stop you (show them the stickers that are placed on the front of the vehicle, never accept any fines in a language other than English ...) plus practical driving tips as well as if we had any problems Call us with the car or the police and they would help us.I have to say, that during the 5 days that the rent lasted, the police didnt stop us even once, I dont know if I had the stickers properly, or why, but we had that luck.The car was pretty good, and it didnt give us any problems so great with it.Also, we met them at the airport and let them know a couple of hours before and there they were, waiting for us at the airport. The delivery was very good and very fast.Without a doubt I would rent again with this company.

All Akuna Matata, like everything else in Africa, the airport is small, it is working at full capacity, it is very difficult for them to receive so many guests; they missed luggage, almost 11kg instead of 10. There were three bags in hand luggage, many kg were not checked, they found fault; I brought a lot of fruit with me, but we put 1 bag of 5kg weighing very kind employees friendly
