Very nice stay for the price. Friendly staff and a beautiful outdoor area close to the beautiful beach and the famous The Rock restaurant. They offered a vegan breakfast for us. We had a very good time. Rooms are a little bit small.

Lovely little boutique hotel tight by the beach only a few hundred meters from the famous Rock Restaurant! Owner was super nice so was the staff!! Would go back any time!

Lovely place! Beautiful comfy and clean rooms. Great breakfast. Amazing location right by the beach and close to restaurants and the village.The manageress was very attentive and welcoming. She also gave us lots of tips on good places to go/eat.Will definitely come back

Very nice accommodation by the beach! I love the simplicity of the place, makes you feel that you live closer to what locals live, the windows without glass, just mosquito net, hearing the waves, and bathroom without door for the double room, i loved the idea! I would just suggest more shadow for the hanging sunbeds by the sea and providing the possibility of reffiling your own bottle (at a charge) to reduce plastic use! Keep it up!

Good accommodation, best price and staff are so polite

The room was comfortable and very clean with a lovely mosquito net above the bed. The views of the beach from my balcony were fantastic and a great spot to be served breakfast every morning by the lovely staff, Happy or Faisal. Good options for breakfast too!It’s a very short walk to the wonderful Rock restaurant, as well as other great places along the beach, such as Baladin.Gillian and her team couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful, they really helped make my stay thoroughly enjoyable! They are happy to help with recommendations on restaurants, local activities and tours... plus sharing helpful local words and phrases!Cannot beat the beachfront location and the sun loungers were the perfect place to relax! Wish I could’ve stayed longer.

Value for money, this is as good as it gets, not just in Zanzibar but anywhere! Great place to relax! The beds are comfortable and the breakfasts are amazing! Also, the private swings right on the beach are fantastic for relaxing and wasnt bitten by a mosquito once! They also arrange activities on the island which we recommend 100%! Thanks so much to Gillian for being a great host and especially to Faisal for being so friendly and helpful! Couldnt recommend Shanuo enough!

Great location on the beach. Room cleanliness is superb and it has all you need (No soap/shampoo provided).Staff makes you feel like its ur home.Many restaurants options around. Perfect to relax quiet area. Breakfast it has all the option and deliver to your terrace every morning.

What a beautiful place to stay! Its a quiet and relaxing bungalow that is not quite the resort set up. We liked it a lot as there was very little disturbances and the service/host was fantastic. Gillian was so helpful and accommodating!! I highly recommend to anyone wanting a not-so-tourist-like-stay on the beach. They have only the offer for breakfast, which for us, suited us really well as we got to try the restaurants along the beach. The breakfast is served to you in front of your bungalow, simply wake up and sit outside! A word of warning and the only thing that we didnt like/didnt agree with: they do not offer any drinking water - you must buy single use plastic bottles...

My first time in the dorm.I was a bit skeptical at first, thanks to two wonderful roommates * I had a perfect time from December 29th, 21st.The dorm was occupied by 3 people including me.Its clean, breakfast is ok, WIFI is available.The view and the chill opportunities are terrific.Unfortunately, there is a deduction for a lack of supply with drinks from 8:00 p.m.

A very nice and atmospheric place worth staying. Located on a beautiful beach in the immediate vicinity of The Rock Restaurant. The staff was very nice and helpful. Rooms with mosquito nets. On the beach, you can take advantage of the offer of local boat owners who will take you to the nearby, well-preserved coral reef, the Blue Lagoon, the bay of starfish and sandbank, and the shallows in the ocean at a negotiable price. I recommend using the attractions at low tide. Then you can enjoy undisturbed water. Unbelievable.Extraordinary value for money.The latter is very, very well placed.Positive:-The room was washed every day, everything was spotless.-Breakfast can get better, I think, but its more than enough.-The nearby restaurants are excellent (not to mention the rock which is far too expensive).-The manager of the hotel welcomed us very well by recommending us lots of things and by arranging us at the end of our stay concerning the departure time.-An incredible sea view.Negative:-The crows at 5am which woke us up every time but its nature ...-The price of the activities offered by the hotel. Even the taxi is overpriced.Recommendations:- Regarding the activities, do not hesitate to go and see Captain Alex on the beach.The latter is very nice, he cooked us several times locally for lunch for barely $ 10 for 2 portions.And the boat trips with him are magical, he takes us where we want for 3 times cheaper than the hotel. In addition you stay there the time you want and you are not with all the other tourists. (In photo the local meal of alex)Otherwise I highly recommend this hotel, it is almost on a flawless basis. The stay in the latter was more than pleasant.

Of the three hotels in which we were on different beaches of Zanzibar, this one was in last place. Didnt like that we waited for breakfast for almost 1.5 hours, there was no canopy over the bed. And the atmosphere somehow did not fit ... But the hotel is quite nice 🙂 the beach is excellent, Near the Rock restaurant, and the hotel next door has its own brewery 😋

Great place I came back from yesterday and I already miss it. We spent a week, which was a break from our daily routine, in this seemingly not very spectacular Hotel, which was a great choice as it allowed us to enter a different level of experience. Bathroom with toilet just behind the bed, shared fridge available only during reception opening hours - all this added to the charm of this hotel. We were awakened by the sound of the ocean, the tides of which are incredibly vast in this part of the world. The service was very polite, communication in English was not a problem. Cleaned and sprayed with insect repellent daily.We set our holiday in advance to see as much as possible and although it lasted only a week, we came back very happy and saturated with Africa. Thanks to the help of the hotel staff, it was possible to buy an inexpensive one-day trip to Safari with a pickup from the hotel itself, for which I am very grateful because it was one of the dreams come true. Shanuo is also a very good base for exploring the corners of the island by rented car, because in Paje, which is a few kilometers away, you can refuel your car. I definitely recommend and warn you because you can fall in love with this place !!!

If you want a place surrounded by greenery, full of joy and relaxation, Shanuo is the one for you. Gorgeous staff, super location, great breakfast and unbeatable price.

We were welcomed very nicely by Gillian, the breakfast was very, very tasty and we really liked the sun loungers / beds that came with the accommodation.Unfortunately there was no mosquito net over the bed, which is a minus point for us. The shower fittings are very old.

Wonderful place that overlooks the sea and the beach of fine white sand ... Well-kept and the bungalows are beautiful, well-kept and excellent cleaning. All in Zanzibar style, comfortable beds with mosquito nets and also delicious breakfast served directly inTerrace .. What more could you want ... Relax to the maximum thanks to the courtesy and kindness of Gillian .. Always available .. He organized excursions, transfers from the airport .. And suggested places to eat or have an aperitif .. Amazing magic place. I definitely recommend the staff was very friendly and helpful. They are all in a good mood. And especially the breakfast on the terrace overlooking the beach was perfect.I would love to come back here again, I hope it will be soon :)

Nice staff, accommodation clean, fragrant, but still quite small .. environment family, cozy, beautiful outdoor exterior, lots of sunbeds and ideal location 50 m from the sea right next to the iconic Rock restaurant..in the range of other beach restaurants..prices affordable. I recommend
