Itโ€™s a very interesting place. We came here approximately at 19 oโ€™clock. Not much fruit, but we found the perfect guys with coconuts, avocados, mangos ๐Ÿฅญ and other exotic fruit. They even used gloves while most of them donโ€™t ๐Ÿ™ˆ Many offers of different kind of seafood, but there are also vegetarians options, like sweet potatoes, falafel, bread fruit. We felt safe going here after the darkness. The only disadvantage is that everybody tried to call us and persuade to choose their food - it is really annoying and exhausting.

The whole night market is a tourist scam. Most products are not fresh, price can vary x100 depending of customer face. I clearly dont recommend this. If you really want to play with what your stomach can handle, dont forget to ask the price before ordering.

Lot of people on this market do a scamm on you. First ask the pricelist before they charge you enormous amounts of money. They are absolutely unfair and I would not recommend eating here. There are better and cheaper places in Stone town.

Ask for the price before you order otherwise they demand double price when you pay. Price list mainly does not exist.Beef and lamb was very tough to eat.

I would just like to ask everyone to be extra cautious with what is happening at the Forodhani market at night. This is an open-air food market right in front of the Old Fort and right by the sea which operates from 18:00 to 23:00. There have been several incidents where sellers tried to charge tourists with crazy amounts of money, so you should ALWAYS ASK FOR THE PRICELIST BEFORE YOU TALK TO THEM FURTHER. Each bench has a pricelist but they hide it under the table so that they can charge you whatever they want. They will try to put a plastic plate on your hands and then put food on it, and then they will say ok let me warm it up for you and in no time you have already ordered without you even noticing. Then they bring you back the plate and they ask you to pay an enormous amount of money. So, be careful: DONT EVEN TALK TO THEM UNLESS YOU HAVE A LOOK AT THE PRICELIST. The prices you will see there are still high comparing to the rest of the island, but then it will be up to you whether to buy something or not.

Good food, recommend the sugarcane juice. Zanzibar pizza is very good, while the seafood skewers are good, although I thought they would be better and fresh. For the skewers I recommend the octopus was very good. Generally a lot of people, interesting atmosphere. Its worth going to such a place :)

This market is a scam for tourists, go there to see but dont eat anything. You will find much fresher, better and a hundred times cheaper elsewhere. For 3 skewers this stand with the multicolored umbrella wanted to charge us 60,000 TZS, it wasnt worth 10,000!!! Run away !!!!!!

Very tasty but also very expensive for street food. The prices are the same as in the best restaurant. I recommend the seafood skewers.

The market is tiny, but there is something for everyone. Tasty food. It is necessary to bargain, most often the first price quoted by the seller is 2x or even 3x higher than the final price.
