They also have a rooftop bar, so you can sit with fresh air. If you prefer inside, also possible.Food is delicious and coming very quickly. I just finished my starter and main course arrived. Yummy
Long overdue - I really just couldnβt let this slide! We visited awhile back hoping for some good Chinese food (something we sorely lacked back home). We were, needless to say, shocked when after a wait of nearly an hour our food arrived; lukewarm, spongy, tasteless plates of what really couldβve been anything. The staff for the most part was friendly, but the owner/manager was not only unwilling to help but also abrasive and belligerent. The bathrooms were dirty and lacked basic necessities such as towels and soap, so we couldnβt even wash the unappetizing remnants of our meals off our hands! Would not recommend, many better uses for your money.
I really liked this spesific chinese restaurant, i had duck with nuddle and okra every meal teasted soo nice the duck wasnt dry as i was waiting tobe, the okra was fresh and testy, noddles was as expected i reall injoyed my self and not soo high priced either
As a Chef and lover of good food, I finally got there 2 weeks ago. And it was good. Tired of the lack of real variety and quality in Stonetown. The chicken soup was really good, first time for me. Everything was freshly cooked. My disappointment was the lamb stew. The meat was too hard and chewy. Nevertheless I m going back there tonight as I live here in Stonetown. This is definitely a restaurant I will visit again, its in my favourite list.
Food tasted nice but the quantity was ok ok not as accepted according to its price.
Really excellent, authentic Chinese seafood restaurant. Was very impressed with the cooking. If you come here, order smart, it is a SEAFOOD restaurant, and Zanzibar is an Island with some of the worlds best SEAFOOD - so, dont order chicken ;)
There are mixed reviews of this place on TripAdvisor, and only a few on Google from local guides, so as travellers from the UK who love Chinese food and who have eaten it all around the world, this is now officially our favourite Chinese restaurant of anywhere. Please, dont overlook this gem. A lovely rooftop restaurant with a refreshing breeze, phenomenal food (salt and pepper beef was so good!), all at a good price. Credit cards accepted too.
Sulky, good food. First time trying chinese..was I disappointed? Maybe a little bit, maybe I didnt order the right food....anyway great place if you are tired of Zanzibar sharwamas and wanna try something chinese like on this fateful night.
The most horrible restaurant in every respect: bad service, bad hygiene and terrible food! Whoever rates this place anything more than one star is delusional! Some βhighlightsβ:1) when we sat down, and for 30 mins after we got our appetizers, we had no silverware or napkins! When we asked for them, the waiter brought the silverware (took another 15 minutes!) but apologized that they didnβt have any more clean napkins! FYI, the two full tables of Chinese customers, who also clearly didnβt want or need napkins, gladly used their tablecloth to wipe their mouths and for sneezing! Needless to say, you didnβt want to touch the tablecloth!!2) we waited 45 mins to start getting our main dishes...only to find out they didnβt have any more ingredients to make one of the dishes....even though another dish which was already delivered contained plenty of said βmissingβ ingredient!3) the chicken dishes were filled with gristle and cartilage...and an abundance of cornstarch! Very low quality ingredients! Not enough context? I wonβt even mention the terrible attitude of the owner/manager from the moment we walked in or the gross condition of the bathrooms (which lacked soap or towels/napkins/dryers)!The *only* positive: the waitstaff (all locals) were pleasant & apologetic! I can only imagine they work at Pagoda out of pure necessity!
When we arrived we were ushered into an empty restaurant (bad sign #1) nearest to the windows where the mosquitoes festered (bad sign #2). Later we were given neither utensils nor plates and the only napkins were deep in the recesses of a tissue box in the center of the table. Setup of the restaurant was poor, the food was substandard, and bad kitchen work caused no small amount of suffering on our serversβ part because of bad communication. The food took forever to come and the overall experience was a complete letdown.
This place has a different manager now and has shown significant improvements in food quality .. canβt wait to go back home π₯Ίπ₯Ί
Authentic Chinese - delicious, and served in good portions. Lovely family-owned restaurant in Zanzibar for 3 generations. The restaurant has an airy upstairs dining area.
Really enjoyed the place. At first the soup and service were both bad but the food turned our quite nice and we ordered more
So delicious, no better Chinese food on the island.
Its an okay restaurant. The food was standard, in good portions and affordable.
Extremely tasty food, big portions, low prices.
Food was fine but service and billing was pathetic, we ordered 4 soups and they served 3 after many follow ups, and bill was for 4 soups, same issues was with juices, after discussing at billing counter they didnt show any applogies for the all above mistakes even after confirming from waiters, they became very rude to us.
Very delicious food.
If you miss Chinese Food, then this is the place to go in Stone Town.

Nice food
One of my faves in Stone
Great place, food is delicious, three courses and 2 drinks 70shilling. The portions are large, and most importantly, they really taste like the dishes that I tried in China
Bad service, mediocre or bad food. little customer naturally found. In Dar es Salaam there are good Chinese restaurants but definitely not in Stone Town in Zanzibar. November 2019
Das Restaurant ist gut mit Meerblick. Sehr gute und schmackhafte KΓΌche. Minus - kein Internet.
