An oasis of beauty and tranquility with a stunning view out over the local valley. This place has everything - a charming and kind manager, superb staff, yummy food, excellent accommodation and a pool/facilities to dream of. We came to Mbeya planning to stay for a day or two and have spent four here at Utengule. That says it all!

Arrived late in the evening due to a late border crossing and arrived at the security gate but told they were closed however the security called the management and let us in and fed us and gave a place to rest in a camping lodge. Thank you ! Amazing service and friendliness by all the staff very good food too.

Perfect place to explore the Southern Highlands. We stayed 4 nights and would have stayed longer. Great accommodation with soft white bedding and awesome hot showers. Fabulous food and of course excellent coffee as well as welcoming and helpful staff. A perfect location for nature lovers as the bird life in the grounds and surrounding forests is excellent. We all enjoyed incredible views over the Rift Valley as we relaxed on our verandah. We came with the family and went on a number of lovely hikes organized by the hotel. The kids loved the multitude of sporting activities available and room to run around the grounds.

Great space to weekend gateway or mini vacation. Lots of activity, hike, coffee and village tour. Staff are well trained and helpful.I like this place more because it’s in low elevation are than Mbeya town. Temperature is moderate.

Excellent physical environment, great service staff, but if anything goes wrong the manager generally makes the situation even worse. Pool is beautiful but the water is always really cold. Difficult to enjoy a place where the manager is not behind the employees...

The place is partially closed because of Covid 19 but the prices for the bungalows remain the same. Maybe they should rethink how they could draw in more residents with regards to lowering their prices. The cleanliness is questionable as we had to clear a few spiders and insects from the rooms that looked liked theyd been their for a while. Even though the bungolows (1&3) remained the same price $15 per person, theyre good value but you still have to bring your own bed sheets, towels etc. The food was pretty basic and expensive. My main issue is with the guides costs $10. Even though this was very transparent, I just assumed if youre paying that much for a guide (who costs are normally free) then it should include hot water and food (ugali etc.).Overall, its aesthetically a nice place to stay and lodge manager is perfectly welcoming. I just suggest their pricing needs to be rethought. Another example being the prices of the coffee they grow is more ($13 500g) than I can buy the exact same brand for in Arusha. How can the be?

Rustic, authentic lodge in a beautiful setting. The owner, Monica, is friendly and very knowledgeable on local attractions.Food is generally well-prepared and very tasty. Service is prompt and professional.Comfortable rooms with all the basics and plenty of storage space. One downside of the three nights spent here is that I had a hot shower on only one day out of the three.Coffee, grown on the property, is outstanding.

The place was really nice, will definitely go back again, the food is fresh and amazing, had a nice buffet with full course. Just make sure you are not suited in the ground floor, any movement on the upper floor create disturbing noise downstairs. Hope they fix those floors.

We had an enjoyable experience visiting the coffee plantation, processing facility and climbed Mbeya peak with a guide.Unfortunately we were not given prices for the meals or hike until the end of our stay. The manager admitted that we were not shown the menu, but did not apologize for the sticker shock we received on our bill. There was no offer to reduce the charges. In fact, the lodge used their lawyer to pursue the issue. We have never been treated so badly in our 24 years of travel. Ensure that you know what you are paying before making your choices. We were charged $15 for a ride back from the peak when we asked for a Bajaj. The lodge used their new vehicle that had been purchased just before the Covid lockdown and was not being used.

This place is heaven on Earth, seriouslyI don’t say this lightly, but Utengule Coffee Lodge is perfection. Within the first hour of being at the lodge, we changed all our subsequent travel plans to extend our stay. There is not a single negative thing to say about this place and if you’re love coffee, just do yourself a favour and make the booking. The location is exquisite with a gorgeous view of the distant hills, valleys and surrounding coffee farms. The staff are attentive, professional and seem to go out of their way to ensure you have a wonderful stay. The hospitality shown by Debbie (the manager), Abdul (the receptionist) and the rest of the team is genuine and warm. For our last dinner the team set up a special table for us, knowing that we were on our honeymoon. The food and drinks are incredible - especially the coffee! The menu was healthy, delicious and varied. We thoroughly enjoyed every meal. We had an coffee mousse for desert one night... we still crave it.The grounds of the hotel and the rooms themselves are amazing. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and elegant. The beds are ridiculously comfortable. We hadn’t slept that well in a long time! The hotel boasts a pool, tennis court, volleyball court, masseuse, gorgeous gardens and more. There is plenty to do here to keep you occupied. Although, the setting is so relaxing you may just want to take it easy and enjoy. If you want to get out and about, the staff at Utengule have you covered. Make sure you do the coffee plantation tour - fascinating and delicious! Abdul went out of his way to take us on a hike to an incredible waterfall (which is on the property - if you can believe it!).My husband and I are driving from Cairo to Cape Town. By this stage we have almost traversed the continent and can safely put Utungule amongst our favourite experiences. Our only regret is that we have to leave.Do yourself a favour and come here!!

A must visit while in Mbeya! Breathtaking view and very peaceful. A good place for both day visitors and stay in guests. We spent a night and it was lovely however the room we stayed at, had the bathroom and washrooms downstairs so it was a hassle for me going downstairs to pee in the middle of the night otherwise clean good rooms with comfy beds. A modern african touch in their rooms. Good food & very well presented! I like the fact that they use their own flowers and leaves from their garden to decorate their meals. I had ugali our local tanzanian dish. Worth a try!The service has gotten much better now. They also have a beautiful pool. For the fortunates, the sunsets are lovely when its not cloudy!Oh its good they had a 50% discount for their rooms...not sure until when offer lasts.

This is a wonderful place in a great part of Tanzania, situated in the southern foresty foothills of the Mbeya range. It is easy to relax in the beautiful garden and just listen to all the birds sing. There is also the option for sports (tennis, squash, ping-pong, volleyball, billiard, and table football), and a swim in the pool if relaxing is not your thing. I can also recommend hiking around in the hills above the lodge, but if you want to get to the summit of Mount Mbeya a guide can be a good idea (easy to choose the wrong path). Its also very nice to take a walk around the coffee plantation. The food is great, and the rooms are clean and nice. Staff is friendly and helpful. If I am ever in this part of the world again, this is where I will stay.

Utengule Coffee Lodge is pretty much one of the only reasonable stays around Mbeya. It is beautifully located and the view from the terrace is just breathtaking!A good selection on the menu and the staff is friendly and helpful. Considering the location the prices are acceptable.Dont forget to bring a sweater at night since especially in winter it can get really cold. All in all, it is a very relaxing place to just stay for a couple of day and forget about all troubles. It is also a great location to hike and/or explore the nearby coffee plantations.
