As a 4 star resort, there are certainly some things that need attention to truly reflect the rating.Rooms were large and comfortable, cleaned daily and fresh towels every second day. The air conditioner didn’t work, it was set to 16 and felt like it was set to 30, I asked the reception twice to check it out as it wasn’t working how it should have been, they were under a different impression and said it was working perfectly, as a result we had very uncomfortable evenings due to the heat. I had been into another room who’s aircon worked like a dream. I expected the same.Pool facilities are great, pool is always clean and common areas are very well maintained.Food was ok, A lot of variety but carb heavy. Difficult to cater for everyone’s preference but needs more variety. Coffee is good.Staff, overall very friendly and helpful but there are a few that spoil it for the rest, there are a number of staff members with terrible attitudes and a number of times we had to endure eye rolling when asking for drinks. We stayed over New Years, we were excited to be in Zanzibar over the celebration and expected a great party, however it was nothing short of a disaster, as a guest that paid their equal part to every other guest It was very disappointing to find out that the crayfish and the lamb that was served would not be replenished? There were many guests that didn’t get their share, to me this is highly disappointing and unfair. The drinks on the night were served warm as the ice had run out, as it did most nights, we were given a warm bottle of Champagne but it was appreciated non the less, we moved down to the beach for great show and awesome fireworks display, no more than 5 minutes later we were drowned off the beach by the locals, New Years ended just after midnight for us. While I appreciate the beach is a public place, the priority should have been the comfort of your guests first and for most, the DJ should have been brought up into the entertainment area so the guests could have enjoyed the evening, it was very evident as the guests chatted among themselves that the New Years party became a party for the locals, it was very unpleasant to watch the fighting on the beach and even more disturbing to see that there were kids that had to witness it, police, security and hotel management did nothing. Guests shouldn’t have had to witness this, there also could have been an exception made on the drinks after 11 on New Years in particular even if it was as simple as Beer on tap and Wine for all inclusive packages, I get the rule of drinks till 11 on a normal night but small gestures will go along way for your guests.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We took an all inclusive package. The facilities were clean an the staff friendly and professional. The room was comfortable and clean. The games room needs a little TLC and the buffet got a little minotenous. All things considered it is a great place if you have an eventful scheduled planned and only intended on spending your downtime at the resort.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at Uroa Bay and it did not disappoint at all. We had a absolute blissful time. The 2 bed room room facing the sea is beautiful with all the palm trees and well kept however the room is small, cupboard space is limited and you only get 2 towels for bathing. The food is amazing, they cater Halaal food and its quite delicious with many options. The staff provide excellent hostmanship, from the cleaners, the caters and the receptionists and they were always ready to assist where they could. There is alot to do, swimming pools, the turquoise calm ocean, the locals selling tours and bicycles available for rental outside the resort.I had a wonderful time and I have a special shout out to Suleiman the receptionist who organised us a taxi driver to do our PCR tests in our hour of need.

Honestly this was a great holiday except some minor things. First you should be prepared that from time to time there is NO electricity supply (but thats the case for the whole island). It means no air con in the rooms, nor the free wi fi at reception...sometimes delays with meals in the restaurant. Another thing if you want your towels changed- put them on the floor. Otherwise maids wont bother. Ask for a shampoo/shower gel refill dont expect they will check it if there is none left...all in all cleanliness is fine. Next thing - all inclusive. I would like to warn you its more like a full board with drinks. No snacks between meals.I found the food to be great, my husband not so much... if you are a heavy meat-eating person - you will not be happy. I, as a vegetarian think that there was a great choice. Fruits and vegetables are really good!Activities. The beach boys offer some great deals on excursions. I think they give the best price possible. Mr. Coca Cola was our guy and we went everywhere with him. Amazing 👏Animation is just ok. Nothing extraordinary. Some kids might get bored. If you want it is a great initiative to take some candy, pencils...or anything for the Zanzibar kids. They will be very happy 😊.Also dont forget the tips for the staff 😉At least a dollar.PS. When buying dollars for your trip make sure the notes were issued after 2006.Enjoy 😉

Ideally situated close to the beach. Villas are situated over beautifully maintained gardens. Places are kept neat and clean. Meals served are delicious and local cuisine served is interesting. Outings provided are interesting and help one understand the importance of the island. Some hidden gems can be found here, and the history of this island is fascinating.

What a place! When you arrive you’ll be greeted with refreshments and cold towels, along with a bracelet as a welcome gift. The menu is constantly changing for lunch and dinner. Your breakfast is pretty much standard but the food is of quality and is absolutely tasty in general. The rooms are spacious, neat and clean. The tv is however a bit small for my liking but works well.Common areas are well maintained and the overall mood is relaxed.Staff members are very friendly and helpful, though I feel the waiters and waitresses could be a little more dispersed to attend to the guests. It was a bit annoying to find them all huddled up together in one area when they should be walking around taking orders for the bar.Bonus for this resort is the fact that every evening there is live entertainment. It’s a really nice touch after having a relaxing day and a lovely meal to sit down and watch a live show. You’ll also notice when sitting in front of the beach there are locals trying to sell goods or excursions. Hear them out, we got a really good deal at $45 for the safari blue excursion(Lobster and Prawns were included). Look for gentlemen by them name of Ali, Chocolate or Yaya. If not, you’ll pay $65-75 for the exact same trip.Although their deals and items are cool, I like the fact that the resorts security doesn’t allow them onto the premises.I only had one big issue with this place, there is no WiFi in the rooms. You’ll only find it in the common areas. All in all it was a wonderful experience, I take my hat off to the management team for the exceptional service.

Special mention to the manager, Edna, for assisting us and accommodating us as much as possible. If I have to point out anything negative it will be the Spice tour/Stone Town trip that was included in our package. Having visited Zanzibar before I know what a proper spice tour and Stone Town tour should be. Uroa Bay is definitely a 4 star 🌟 resort and all your needs for a beach holiday conveniently in one place, you dont need to leave the resort. The resort has a on-site doctor room, small boutique and an excursions tour guide where you can conveniently book your stays activities. As you walk in to the reception area you will be welcomed by mock tails and high grass roofs. The staff will welcome you with a friendly Jumbo and walk you through the magical resort. We took the all inclusive package and didnt regret it because woow the food and cocktails is yummy! You will find 2 massive pools with lounge chairs just off the restaurant and shortly thereafter your feet will touch the beach sand. With a few steps down from the resort is the magical white sand and turquoise water awaiting you. The rooms all have AC and roof fans as well as mosquito nets and either a private balcony or patio. There is local entertainment every night at the pool area for old and young alike. The resort baked a little cake free of charge for my sons birthday without my intervention, and truel a nice gesture. For our anniversary a private table under the stars and on the beach was set up for us at an additional cost but Wooow they did so much effort during our stay. Will definitely return!

So so.. it was categorised as 4.5 star on the booking site, I would not give it more than 3 though. Its clean and rather simple, breakfast is pretty good though. Staff os very friendly and attentive. The beach is a bit of a problem, as during low tide you have to walk for miles for a swim and during high tide you have to wade through piles of seagrass that gets washed against the shore. The next thing is that you are basically in the middle of nowhere, i. e. there is no infrastructure around, just two small, but nice beach restaurants. The next supermarket is about 30min driving away, so definitely rent a car when you go there.Last but not least - Sansibar offers magnificent sunsets, but this place is on the wrong side of the bay or the island respectively, so you wont see them from there, again youll need a car.

How to begin... the resort itself is amazingly well kept and very clean. The rooms are comfortable and quite adequate as you will hopefully not be spending much time in them anyway. The beds are firm and amazing if you have back issues such as myself. Showers were large and always hot. The water is highly chlorinated (I think it was actually seawater but could not verify) and it is quite difficult to get a lather going when having a shower or washing your hair. The three-ply toilet paper was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. The bathrooms also come with a bidet if you are into that sort of thing. There were wood-borers in my chair which made quite a racket but I would eventually come to enjoy their wood-munching company. (I took the chair outside on account of needing to sleep.)My companion and I opted for the half-board option as we hoped to be out of the resort most days. It was a good decision as the breakfast and most of the dinner menus were deplorable for the amount paid to stay here. Food was badly presented and disappointingly devoid of any taste. There was something particularly wrong with the eggs, be it scrambled, boiled or use for an omelette. They just tasted... wrong. The resort held themed dinners consisting of dishes from different countries, I assume to cater for the different tastes of guests which was quite exciting until the fourth or fifth night when everything just started tasting the same... and by tasting I mean lacking taste. I felt like my tongue just gave up any hopes of being utilized for the rest of the trip as we just ate so we wont be hungry until the next food service. Honestly, food is a very important part of a vacation, especially if you are going to pay as much as you pay at a 3 star place back in South Africa or at a 4 star place in the east where every dish would be delectable. I personally suspect poor quality ingredients and a lack of skilled staff. The food tasted like it was made just to fill a spot on the serving table. The only redeeming item to note were the fresh fruits which, when not covered in flies, were actually quite amazing. It would be cheaper to take an all-inclusive package with drinks as these are very expensive for us South Africans.(One 350ml bottle of coke would set you back $2 or about R28.)Luckily, I had packed a few bags of chips and nuts to sustain us through to our next meal. I advise all travelers to do this regardless of where your travels take you. Having that Nik Naks or Simba Nuts really helps if the home sickness bug bites. The service staff and, in fact, all the local people we came across in Zanzibar were very friendly... we never felt unsafe, sometimes we didnt even feel like tourists. The excursions, although expensive, are worth every cent. The culture and history of the place is stunning. I would suggest taking both dollars and Tanzanian Shillings as most things are cheaper in local currency.Good trip. Food very disappointing. Beaches and pool are awesome. People are very friendly. Roads are quite bad and trips are long. Always carry water and snacks. Local places are mostly dodge.(These people do not have an issue with flies for some reason, and there are hundreds of them, flies I mean.) Carry tummy tabs if you of weak bowel, you will need them for the seasickness and the food, but mostly the food. That is all. Keep well fellow travelers!

We didnt feel comfortable with it, but were really hungry. We arrived in the restaurant, after us several people showed up around. We placed our order, got drinks, some snacks for waiting. We were told when coming to Zanzibar, it is natural to wait even 40 mins for the food. So we waited. About an hour later, when everyone around us received their meal we decided to leave. The staff tried to explain (after we stood up and demanded to get ID back), than we had to wait for sb to check smth, it was a nightmare with people checking with each other if we actually ate. We paid for drinks and got the ID back after another 10 mins. So, I dont know if this place is worth recommending. They serve really cold red wine and thats just a big no.
