Exiting was very difficult, they are stuck in an old age, everything must be printed and they have no way of printing anything for you. You must also get back in line from the beginning every time. They won’t even go over everything if something isn’t up to their expectation, they just pull you out of line and if something else is wrong, you get pulled out of line again. And when you get the forms printed, they won’t even do anything with them, they just look at them and hand them back to you. No stamp or anything, just verifying you have a hard copy for NO reason. You also have to get signatures from the Zambia border post and then go through zambia exit on the Tanzania side once again and repeat all of your information through three check points, get a photo taken (in addition to the visa photo) and get all your fingerprints scanned.

Tanduma border crossing has the Tanzanian border post and Zambian post within 5 minutes walking distance of each other. The only thing that slowed the process down was having to get a Tanzanian stamp for a COVID certificate, make sure you have your certificate receipt, where you had your test. You could easily walk across and pick up a SIM card, have a spare phone, or take a motorbike etc. Transport is numerous. There are also money changers at the border that change Tanzanian shillings for dollars or kwacha. Depending on the day you’re crossing and the time it may be better to get a better rate from the bank. The money changers usually appear in groups of 4 people, so if you are intimidated by this make sure to catch the bank open. The bank is just a short bike ride away along with numerous shops. You can get photocopies of your documents in one of the local shops.Tips for going through the crossing - have an itinerary of what you will be doing - have your COVID certificate - have your accommodation details of where you shall be staying - have a mask (COVID requirement) or they may not deal with you or you could spend a longer time there - have your $50 dollars for the visa - have some Zambian kwacha to take a taxi ride, usually around 15-20 kwacha but they can charge up to 30 kwacha if you don’t bargain it down. The fare will depend on how far your going but generally a 5 minute ride is about 10-20 kwacha.Visa available at the border.Hotel I stayed at was called Izukanji Lodge, a three star hotel with all that you need. Restaurant and polite service. WiFi was down at the time of my arrival but I had data on my phone. This hotel is only 5 minutes away into Zambia, very convenient. If you are travelling into the capital prepare for a long bus ride and get the bus at the correct times. They don’t run all through the night, same in Tanzania.Hope this helps. See you tube channel for more info, I may do a video on my experience.
