Great place to start your visit to Tanga. Although under renovation, the team did a great job to share te history of the holding, that of Tanga and Tanzania in General. The view of the port and sea is amazing and not far from the fish market (best time is around 4pm to visit the fish market).Kudos to the team here.
This place takes you back in time, you see experience the Germans and the Britons. I had an awesome guide, who took me around and explained things well.
A good place to learn about the horrific German colonialism on the Tanzanian people. A past most Tanzanian would like to leave behind. Hence the lack of care and maintenance of the building.
Sparse museum mostly consisting of a few old pictures on the walls. However, the curator really makes a visit worth it. He is very well spoken and knowledgeable and spends most of the tour explaining the interesting history of Tanga. The fee is 10,000 tzs per person and the tour takes about an hour.
Nice place to visit. Building of 1890 by Germany. Visit and learn about ancient Tanga.
If you are interested in the colonial history of Tanga and Tanzania, this is a good place to visit. The guides at the museum are also more than happy to show other parts of the town (and other day trips). A good place to start in Tanga and to kickstart the rest if your time in Tanga.
Great museum! Beautiful building located on Independence Avenue. Joel, the Head Curator and his amazing staff provided us with a tour of the museum and the surrounding area. This place is your go-to if you want to learn about the culture and history of Tanga city/region!
Very interesting place! We even got a personal tour with the curator Joel Niganile. His describtions and the photo exhibition give you an impressive insight about the history of the building.
Very clearly 5 STARS !We enjoyed our visit so much!It was giving a insight on the history ... specially the German ... of Tanga.Joel and his team do great conservatory work preserving the remains of Tangas history and historical buildings...(What do you think about the idea to create a historical circuit with informative panels.... ?)We recomment not to miss this highlight!

Heritage museum is a very beautiful place. For the first time I visited with my family we learned a lot. I am a very good part
The truth is that it is a waste of time. It is very poorly maintained. With a very poor and uneducative sample. It is extremely expensive and mediocre. It is much better museum to go for a walk and if necessary read the story of the armchair in Wikipedia
Very interesting building. We got a private tour from Kaniki and got a look into the colonial thong.
Pleasant town, not busy. Ventilated gardens. Tree-lined avenues.
An interesting museum, the caretaker is simply great
This building is a Heritage tanga museum
