A mass grave of over 67 Maji Maji warriors were hanged to death by the Germans colonial regime in Tanganyika during the Maji Maji war of 1905/1907. The Ngoni people fight against the colonial administration. Maji Maji fighters were hanged on 27/92/1906 and buried at the place where the Museum stands. Thee is also a grave of Sub Chief Songea Mbano who was the leader if the Maji Maji warriors, was killed/hanged three day later and buried in a separate grave
Must see if you want to learn about the anticolonial Maji Maji war (1905-07) and pay respects to those who have been murdered by German colonial troops. Go on 27th February to experience the annual celebration, an event of national importance. I hope the roof of the main building can be repaired soon to protect the exhibition and further development this landmark of local history.
