Forest is nice, there are monkeys. You cant go without a tour guide, and you stay along the main road, or not to very far from it. They provide umbrellas when it rains. You can pay in shillings, USD, or Euros. Across the street you can check out the mangroves where there are wooden planks throughout for you to walk and explore. Its pretty neat. Theres also a butterfly center nearby that will take up a good twenty to half an hour minimum.
12$ per person, 2 kind of monkeys, and few butterflies and two rare Elefant nose rats! We had a very nice guide, who is a volunteer, and did a 2 h walk with us and gave a lot of information l.
Worth a little walk there! Very surreal little forest!A little guided excursion is included in the price of the Jozani Forest tour! Male your guide take you there!
The forest is not more than ok. Weve walked maybe 5 min in the forest till the local guide ditched us. Then weve looked at some monkeys with a different guide till he called it a day. Definitely not worth the money and the drive.
Nice forest, spectacular tourist-friendly monkeys. 1 hour tour a bit overpriced and a bit short for the trip.
We had an excellent guide, very professional and full of knowledge about biology and ecology. Unfortunately I cannot recall his name.
A nice half day trip if you enjoy walking and being close to nature. The Jozani Forest is stunning to see and we especial enjoyed to watch the monkeys in their natural habitat. The Mangrove forest is definitely unique and worth a visit. The entrance fee of 25k Tzs is a bit high especially because most likely also take a volunteer guide who expects tip at the end of the tour.
You will be guided by a ranger to do the tour of a wooden path into the mangroves. Very quick and definitely not engaging explanations of what youre seeing and whats the importance of the mangroves will follow and... well... thats pretty much it... Ah! You may see some crabs here and there. PS: watch your head
Incredible place! Lots of different kinds of trees and many monkeys jumping all around. Definitely a great place to visit for nature lovers
An interesting tour of the mangrove highlighting the natural wonder and its importance
Time filling activity. The monkeys are interesting, but not more. Guides are shaking tourists for tips.
Nice forrest and bush in the heart of Zanzibar. Its really worth to take a longer walk around.
Worth visit..getting around jozani jungle, taking pic with red monkeys and going around mangroves..beautiful mangroves that one want to spend more time enjoying the environment
It is worth visiting to walk through the real Zanzibar jungle. An additional attraction, apart from the local vegetation, are definitely monkeys that can be seen up close and photographed.
The place is fun and very exciting
Very beautiful place to see
Beautiful and peaceful but the tour is short. Ask for the 2 hour tour.
Nice walk in the woods, you can see monkeys there

Place where I want to spend more time for relaxation 😉
Good, safe and valuable
Amazing nature
Nice forest
Great to see
Boring
Amazing place
Lovely place
Just wow !
Nice place for tours
The only national park in Zanzibar. I expected more from that. We just come through the forest, then along the footbridge. Its nice in the heat under the trees. But very stuffy. We had it all in a really few minutes. Even less mobile people can handle it. You will also meet monkeys, which are the only ones in the world.
This forest is very unique. On the one hand, there are: free monkeys that jump through the trees and look at tourists, fiddler crabs that live in the mangrove forest, the mangrove forest itself is also pretty. But on the other hand, midges are constantly flying that bite you. Wear a tracksuit, it can rain tropical rain, but it practically does not reach the ground. And corals. They interfere a lot. Look under your feet, you can fall and run into
Nice experience, Jozani is a stretch of rainforest that is part of the northern Zanzibar-Inhambane mosaic coastal forest although mainly mangroves will be seen here.At the entrance of the national park there are paths that help to penetrate the dense vegetation and to spot the red colobus, a species of endemic monkey at risk of extinction, the great protagonist of the place.
Admission costs approximately $ 10 per person (tip to guide not included). We had a guide to ourselves. He took us around the mangroves and explained the different types of trees to us. Then we went to see the monkeys (very close), first the colobus then the black monkeys. We did not see a chameleon (they are mostly there in the morning and very difficult to see). But the guide had a video for all the animals that we couldnt see and explained to us where to find them. The guided tour does not last very long. And you have to be lucky with your guide. Some are really passionate, others less and try to go as quickly as possible to take other customers (they are volunteers and are paid only by tips apparently). After the tour with your guide, you have the possibility to walk around the whole forest on your own until closing time. We have encountered many species (centipedes, spiders, butterflies, squirrel, elephant shrew, birds, etc.) but you can meet many others (chameleon, snakes, dik-dik, mongoose, etc.)Bring: pants, sneakers, mosquito repellent
So, it is an activity to do yes! But read my review first.Good points :-The magnificent animals, if you are lucky you will see a lot of things.-The price which is not high, even if the ride is very fast.-The mangrove forest is magnificent but must be done at high tide. Really, dont go if its low tide.Negative points :-The idiots of tourists who are desperate to take a photo to feed their instagram of me *** ...... we have seen tourists touching monkeys, breaking branches to make them fall ... respect the nature and animals a bit right?-The speed of the trip.Furthermore I highly recommend this activity.
Very nice walk to do another activity. The guide was very good in his explanations, in addition to seeing the red colobus monkeys, we also took a walk through the mangrove. Driven there with your own car, very easy to find and parking provided..
Cost at the end of February $ 12 per person. Local is cheaper. Duration is approximately 1.5 hours. An English speaking guide will be assigned. First, he will show and tell about the monkeys, then he will guide you through the jungle and tell you what grows and lives there. Then everyone will jump into the transport they got into this park (you can walk on foot, for the most courageous :)), and will drive about 1.5 km to the mangrove forest. There the guide will tell you how the trees grow, where they get water, etc.Overall I recommend.Excursion costs $ 12 (end of February 2021). For locals its cheaper. Continues approx 1.5 hour. You will have guide who will tell you about monkeys and rain forest. For sure photos, photos, photos. After that you will take you car, tady or bus, and it will bring you to mangrove forest, about 1 km. Walking, photos and some information about mangroves. Recommend.
Great place to walk. Solid fashionable walkways, there is a large gazebo with benches (oh, how nice it is to lie on them in the shade!).There is also a descent to the river. We saw many small fish with long noses in the water. You can get here from Stone Town without a tour, on your own, by minibus. For example, 326, 310 or 309 are suitable. Stop - the village of Jozani, then walk along a dusty dirt road for about 1 km past the turtle park.In Stone Town, 309 and 310 can be found at the bus station on the eastern outskirts of the city, near the stadium. Its far from the center.326 is based near the historic center, on Karume Street, near a long multi-storey building and a market. In February 2021, the fare is about Sh. 2500-3000. This is how lucky. Some locals gave 1500, some 2000.
We reached this place on our own 🚘 You can take a short excursion with a guide for 60 minutes, or a long one for 3 hours. We took a short one. Again, the cost is too high, they gave 50 thousand Tanzanian shillings⚠ In principle, they did not regret that they took the short one корот. It is more interesting to walk with a guide, shows, talks about living creatures, the nature of this place. He told me interestingly about mangroves леса. By the way, the guide is English-speaking. And, of course, we saw red colobuses. Cool👍. As a result, we had an interesting time✌. A lot of different living creatures rustle around you, you just need to take a closer look🐍
It is worth seeing the unprecedented red Gereza monkeys, rummaging in the last piece of rainforest on the island, plus a walk along the pier among the mangroves that make up the mangrove forest.
The park guide we had was fascinating, we saw a lot of monkeys, the forest and the mangrove.
Very interesting place and very educational. Entrance $ 12, the guide accompanies you throughout the territory and tells the history of the park.
Interesting, but relatively short. The path / jetty was in good shape, I would have found a boat trip more appropriate.
Jozeni Forest is no more than Mahmoud ... We went an entire forest to see monkeys and in the end we found them all in the garbage can of the restaurant at the entrance..hahahaOn the other hand, the mangrove forest is a charming place, an amazing nature experience combined with a fun walk on a wooden bridge.
Very nice meeting with the monkeys and magnificent mangrove
A walk in the forest in search of red monkeys is quite difficult. The compensation was a walk through the mangrove forest.
Beautiful park with rare and endemic monkeys of the island which are very welcoming and easy to approach. Be responsible and protect nature
A bit worse than described in guidebooks, but its worth seeing monkeys living in the wild. I recommend being and seeing.
Lots. Provide socks + shoes.
Beautiful nature still preserved
From afar they will show monkeys, walk a little in a crowd through the forest. The mangrove forest is beautiful only.
For ten bucks per person, you can walk in the woods, watch monkeys and walk along mangrove walkways.
