Of the 4 nights we were here, we eat here about 3 nights and a lunch. I will say this I about the best spot on the northern side of the island. Reservation is required for dinner but lunch is open. Service is 5 star along with food.Where do I begin? This is a way overdue review and I cant say how much I love this spot. Parking is not an issue as you can just park outside the restaurant but do park as close to the restaurant as possible and away from the corner since trucks need to turn and road is small.Food is amazing ππππ except on the day when the chef isnt in. The quality and taste do lack a bit. I love french food and I place this a top 5.Pics will speak for themselves
Went for New years Eve, they had a set menu which was disappointing in parts because the actual menu looked fantastic. We had a party of 13 and they struggled to serve dishes at the same time. It gradually got worse as the meal went on, I got my dessert after everyone had finished and starting to pay. The staff is very lovely!!The food had its ups and downs, the beef main was quite a let down however the other options prawns were delicious! The sauces were okay, the meal was set at 50usd which isnt a lot in American standards but is an expensive meal in Tanzanian standards. The presentation was very nice and the dessert was delicious when I got it.I would go again to try some of the menu items but would not reccommened large parties.
V ordered kwale island platter which consisted of lobster, grilled prawns, squid n fish, which tasted excellent. V also ordered chawaka platter, which consisted of fish kebab, squid n shells. A little disappointed with this dish hence giving it a rating of 4 as this dish comes with ginger crab, which was not provided to us, instead they offered us shells. Overall the service was very slow but the food was excellent
The restaurant is inside Atii garden bungalows. I would say lucky to live in the bungalows and had chance to dine here. The food is great and well prepared/ cooked. This is a real French chef kitchen. We ordered fish and beef, both were really satisfying us. The greatest part is the dessert for sure. I certainly would dine here again if I can. We are thinking to live here more days now :)
A simply delightful place for dinner. You can probably just close your eyes and put your finger somewhere on the menu and you wont be disappointed. If they have it you have to try the goats leg. The Barefoot Cabernet Sauvignon was a great companion for this dish. Service was spot on too. Cant wait to visit this place again!
We had the Churasco, it was a special. It was just so good, at least after being in Tanzania for 3 months. Tender pork spare ribs, with a perfect sauce and such a tasty coleslaw. I also had a Caprese salad on the side which I wouldnt have needed because I was full just by the main dish. But the salad was also pretty good.Place was also good with good service. I do reccomand ordering a table in advance. Only bad thing I can say was the TV which was displaying wrestling and football - it didnt fit in the whole setting for me - but it didnt irritate me enough to remove a star at least. 5/5
A hidden gem in Nungwi! A charming restaurant in a quiet garden where you can have an amazing candlelit dinner. The chef is French, and his delicious creations will keep you craving for more - if you have some time in Nungwi, you will make sure to be back. Oh, and deserts are simply to die for! - make sure to leave some space :)Love this place!
Great food, served with attention to details, plus a very pleasant atmosphere. We came to this restaurant 4 evenings in a row because we were that happy with the food. This place is much better than all the restaurants we tried near the beach, and the price level is surprisingly the same. We also managed to try many dishes and all were at least good, mostly excellent. Our highlight place in Nungwi.
Amazing food! The waiter was a bit slow on the uptake; however, all of our food came out fast and with flavors exceeding expectations. (Africa isnβt know for their great service anyway.) Make sure to save a little room for the amazing desserts. Highly recommend and we will be back one or two more times before we leave Nungwi!
We stayed in the adjacent hotel, which I wouldnt recommend as strongly as I would recommend this restaurant. The resident French chef is a true master. His dishes and drinks are creative, tasty, healthy, freshly prepared, and delicious. He is also a very nice person, one day sharing with me a recipe for a sauce that I always enjoyed. We kept always coming here for dinner just to be able to try as many of the dishes as we could during our stay.
Dined here two nights during our week long stay. Really nice spot, casual but with really nice atmosphere, it was busy both nights we ate here. The seafood platter was very tasty. The goat was delicious, highly recommended!
Food excellent, service very good for area, quiet and relaxed atmosphere! You definitely cant go wrong dining at this fine establishment. A little tough to find but only because entrance not directly off the beach. A short walk and you will be delighted.
Wow!!! If you are ever in Nungwi you must stop here for dinner. The food is excellent. We had fish and goat leg with local spices. Really tasty, you could feel the combination of flavors. I love this place and cannot wait to go there again. The best place in Nungwi and probably in Zanzibar!
Beautiful little garden setting away from the bustle of the beach. The food was perfectly simple and very reasonable, the chocolate melting pudding was the stuff dreams are made of! Would highly recommend if your in Nungwi, more so than the beach front hotel restaurants.
We stayed at the Z hotel and ate here 2x. The food was really good both times. The service was not good. It took for ever to get food, refill water, etc. But the worst was my wife got really bad food poisoning the night before we left. She was up all night hugging the toilet puking and we had to catch an early flight home. She ordered the couscous salad.
* very very nice food.* very cheerfull and friendly staff* good atmosphere* main dish is always amazing but you can improve your side dishes like fried potatos can be less oily , coconut rice can be more coconutty.
Best food in Zanzibar, good price. Amazing staff and beautiful setting. I can only advise you to spend your dinner here while visiting!
Cuisine of higher level than other restaurants in Nungwi. Less crowded due to position couple of minutes away from the beach. Honest prices and good service. Recommended
Nice restaurant, good food, affordable prices and friendly staff. You cant pay by cards but they do accept Tanzanian Shilling and USD. Highly recommended
Awful restaurant! We ordered 6 carvoida , but they gave us 3 pots only. They said one pot for one is too much. We have been here 3 times, but they always served 1 pot for one person. If theres the next time, please give me a plausible excuse. The staffes were too slow, never smiled.
We Were walk in client. We were asked if we had a reservation. We said no. We were put to sit on a dirty table to wait. There were other clean table available and free. The waiter then came to clean the table. We had to request that the table cloth be changed because it was dirty. 30 minutes after another couple came in and asked for a table. They also said that theh had no reservation and was put on one of the free table. We felt like second zone customer.
Amazing delicious fusion cuisine! Fair price for the great quality you get. Best meal Ive had in Zanzibar!
Very, good food. Rather quick service after Zanzibar standards. Absolutely recommendable. Totally just below 100$ for four persons, including drinks before AND after dinner.
Lovely atmosphere and by far the best food on the island we had so far. We had two meat dishes and a (vegan) salad, all was very delicious.
Terrriific!!!Best kitchen since 5 weeks in Tansania/Kenya. True french kitchenartist! The three of us enjoyed meet and vegetarian dishes. The creme brule will probably stay the best ill ever taste again. :-* :-)
This has been our favourite by far. Great ambience, great food, excellent service, inexpensive and easy to locate.Did I say,...great food??
The best restaurant ive been to and certainly the best in nungwi zanzibar. If youre into sea food youre in for a treat. The prices are incredibly cheap for the standard of food you get. Absolutely best food ive had. Go there
Nice place, the manager is really friendly, the dishes are ok (no salt though) but limited options for the vegetarians. Go with cash cos they dont accept cc.
Excellent quality of foods, dishes are meticulously cared for and they have very good wines. Definitely to try!
Great wine, delicious food, nice restaurant! And the desserts like piece of heaven π if you are in Nungwi must to visit
The chef is a french dude, food is actually not bad, good atmosphere, place is lovely, but I give them only two stars because after 2 weeks eating there lunch and dinner everydays, we went there for dinner and after waiting 45 minutes, already got a table and made the order we were told to walk away because the chef was to busy so no more orders.. Guys this restaurant has just a few tables you should be organized to serve them, especially if your customers are people that come there everyday.
Superbe food, sophisticated menu to experience fresh island ingredients, spices and flavors. Simple, elegant and quiet. Haute cuisine!
Amazing food! try churrasco, carvoida & lobster....just PERFECT!and the homemade cheesecakeBest in Zanzibar, well come backπ
The best meal I had on Zanzi. Fish skewers were just big square chunks of moist delicious rich inbetween pineapple. Wow
Fantastic place. Set in a beautiful rustic garden, with warm and excellent service, serving by far the best seafood yet experienced in Zanzibar
Omg so delicious, tuna carpaccio, cigale (rock lobster). Want to go back. French cook, knows how to use garlic =)
The cheesecake is a total must! The food ranges from very good to below avarage otherwise.
Amazing food in a very unexpected place. Prices are very reasonable for the quality.
Beautiful food lovely atmosphere. Putting on mosquito repellant before coming is a must.
Great seafood , the best restaurant in Nungwi Zanzibar . Nice and friendly atmosphere hidden in a tropical garden .
Chef prepares excellent world class dishes with local ingredients. I keep coming back, never disappointed
Very good food, not easy to find a places like this in Zanzibar.
Loved this place! Beautiful garden with calm atmosphere, VERY good food!
Great seafood... Great service..Ask for Mohammed.. Cozy place in Nungwi.. Zanzibar π
Very nice cozy place. Lobster was very good for good price.
Goats leg was good, the rest we liked less than expected.
Best Fish-Restaurant in Town(Nungwi)! Thx for the amazing Dinner...
Nice ambience, excellent staff, delicious food!
Service was terrible and pizza was shocking. Highly overrated.
Tried to go here this afternoon but itβs permanently according to one of the locals next door
Cool setting, good food (I had the goats leg). Wear insect repellent.
Food wasnt great and service was bad even in Zanzibar scale.
Good atmosphere, delicious taste and good service
Amazing food, Great Chef

Tasty lobster
Delicious!
Tasteless food
Top top top
Best restaurant in all Zanzibar North and there is really no doubt about it (we tried so many in the top 10 and this is on another level). The only flaw, slow service but ... We know ... Pole pole π Before I forget ... Best cheesecake ever tried (not in Zanzibar .. Never tried, to improve only slightly the base)
One word Perfect! Very helpful and fast service, excellent food and beautiful environment in the garden with trees. Prices are comparable to restaurants in the area. Fish, seafood, salads, fresh pasta, grilled meats, French specialties and desserts are also available. It was probably the best restaurant we had in Zanzibar.
I rarely put 5 stars, so 4 is also very good! From the pros: an extensive menu, there is something to choose between, a quiet place, delicious cuisine, huge portions, bread is served for salads. I tried miso soup with chicken, tuna carpaccio, caprese salad (I didnβt like it, by the way, it didnβt look like usual caprese: the cheese wasnβt fresh, there wasnβt any pesto sauce, itβs a strange cut), creme brulee is a delicious dessert. Cons: Nungwi is a very tourist place, waiters need to learn English, also the lack of a payment terminal, payment only in cash. Half of our group had to look for another place to dine.
This is the best Ive eaten in Africa! Including Egypt and South Africa! I am always skeptical of lobster - there are more ponts than taste. But here! Delicate, with garlic! Tuna steak is a little spoiled with coconut sauce, but it is still delicious!A plate of tuna carpaccio was almost licked!Perfectly selected sparkling wine from South Africa (they basically have one)!Recommend!
The food was really good both appetizer, main course and desert suited us to the taste unlike other Zanzibar who do not offer any in the gourmet way at all. Unfortunately, the staff was totally unengaged and outright ignorant. The environment is beautiful unfortunately there are lots of full Russians with only upper body and smoke. So this is a rating on Zanzibar, had this been a European restaurant it would probably be a 3rd
