I got strongly mixed feelings about this dive center. On one side guys working there are extremly nice and helpfull especially Shee! But on other heand they are not taking good care of rental equipment. My and my girfriends regulator was leaking air witch I showed on few ocasions to dive masters. I got reply that is ok ( sorry its not). My girlfriends regulator was changed to another only when I took the camera underwater and started recording the escaping air. Strange ... suddenly it turned out that its not ok?!?!
Dived with them 5 times, including one night dive. Equipment is very good, the divers are experienced, very respectful with the reef, and with their customers, very organized and Shee, the owner, is a super nice person. They tried to put me in a group with similar experienced divers, and when the others finished their oxygen underwater, they signaled me to move with a group that still had air, so i could continue my dive.The night dive was amazing, and the divers are very experienced with the area.Felt super safe and taken care of.Highly recommended!Thank you for everything and i cant wait to come back!
One of the best diving schools I have seen so far. Great team, great service and super flexible with joining the tours and making changes.On the boat everything is well organized, the equipment is good, small groups and great snacks. Felt always safe and very comfortable.
Good diving center. Friendly, well organized, reasonable equipment. Compared to other centers in this location they are best. Just the diving locality are not on my top. Mnemba island is good to see, but you are able to survive without it.
I really recommend this diving place to everyone. Me and my wife did an open water padi course with additional two days of dives. We did the course with Tsuma, which was very professional, patient and with great teaching skills. We had some concerns but we felt safe all the way long, finishing with 18m dives. Appreciation should go to all the team, starting with the reception, captains, and other stuff. Everyone is kind, helpful and happy. I really recommend this place for everyone who wants not just to get the papers but to be taught by people with passion.
Had a wonderful dive experience with Spanish Divers. Professional and fun, they ensured we had a wonderful experience. We dove on two separate days with them for a total of four dives and saw some amazing coral reefs and such a variety of fish. Would definitely recommend this dive company.

I was choosing between 5 dive center in Nungwi and Im glad, that I chose Spanish Dancer eventually!I made 11 dives with guys, including AOWD course.This is 1st dive center in my dive life, where instructors follow dive safety standards. They dont let you do diving, which is not within your certification. This is rare among dive centers.Appreciate that :)Great guides Omi and Adam, big thanks!Communication and organization are also very good.Responsive in messengers and social media when you ask smth.The gear is also in good condition, comfortable wetsuits.Funny relaxing atmosphere, good smiling people, cool location on the beach, vibe and coffee :)Special thanks to Lalo and Shee :)
I did my discovery scuba dive with Spanish Dancer Divers, and was really impressed with the service. The team was incredibly professional, fun, yet always placed safety first. Suma was very thorough and meticulous in explaining the skills. Adam was understanding, calm, and extremely conscious of my wellbeing. He made me feel super safe under water!To top it off, they value trust & good client relationships, and really didnt seem like they were into the financial aspect of things because they accepted payment at the end of the DSD and didnt even ask for a deposit - something that is quite rare in Zanzibar. Highly recommended, and Ill dive with them again the next time Im in Zanzibar!
I dived 4 times with Spanish Dancer Dive Center. First of all, the owner David is a very nice guy and helpful. All the instructors and the guides are very professional as well. The facilities and the equipments are above my expectations. I did not face any inconveniences. Timing, organization and caring customers are quite good. Super choice to dive in nungwi. i did 10 dives with spanish and i was super happy. well organized and very friendly and helpful staff. very well equipped. after every dive you get fruits and water. for longer trips also a little lunch. the local divemasters know the divesides well. i will be back for sure!
They know what they’re doing! Had a fun time. The dive buddy assigned didn’t see or show much of the under water life - which is normally half the fun of diving with a buddy thats local. Otherwise no complaints.
Ive dive with many PADI centres but never as good as in Spanish Dancer Divers. So safe and comfortable as you can expect in a top PADI. The Shee team is simply great. Thank you for such great experiences!
Just finished two days of diving with Spanish Dancer Divers, and had a great time. It was a last minute decision, but they found me a spot to join, highly appreciated. Very friendly and professional crew, and nice vibes. As said in other reviews, good gear, safety equipment, and refreshments during surface intervals! Great service they takes care of your equipment, coffee and tea onshore, free WiFi and if requested they has a free underwater camera available (bring your own sd card), and if youre lucky you can even see their visiting monkey! I was very impressed with service from Spanish Dancer Divers; the equipment was new and well maintained, the dive master, shop staff and boat crew were all helpful and skilled. It is always nice when the crew load, change tanks and unload the kit for you.They offered me a free refresher course which was thorough and much appreciated.They also use fairly large boats which always improves the experience.I enjoyed the whole experience offered by Spanish Dancer Divers and would recommend them to anyone.
Despite my open water certificate, I was scared to dive again. They were very understanding and even put an extra dive master to look after me, which gave me a lot of confidence. Everything went well during the first dive. Unfortunately my ears didn’t equalise during the second dive and I had to resurface, but my husband had a very good experience. The staff was very professional, the material is good and they are trustworthy. They automatically didn’t charge me for the second dive which I had to abort. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in Zanzibar.
If you want to scuba dive while on vacation in Nungwi, Zanzibar I highly recommend booking with this dive center. It is well run and the staff were great help on every dive. They have good equipment and highly trained staff. We had a great time diving with them.

Staff is nice and was very helpful. Equipment was good. The boat ride from their dive spot to Mnemba Atoll was around 2 hours. You can definitely tell a difference between a US padi dive shop/equipment and the ones here.... but again, it was decent enough and we had a good time. They had plenty of snacks and water and took a nice break between dives. I was having mask problems (my own mask) on my first dive and was unsettled (I am only able to dive a few times a year) and our dive master stuck right beside me to make sure I was okay and I really appreciated it!
Its too bad your reception desk on the beach is like a circus rather than professional. I was insulted and humiliated and sent away after an employee came up and interrupted, three times, my conversation about diving. I was nervous and he insulted me and made jokes about a dangerous situation. I was then told if I dont like his sense of humor then Spanish dancer divers dont need me as a customer. Diving is serious, not to be taken lightly. Im going elsewhere and will tell others about the service I received from two clowns who dont need business. You came recommended..... Too bad.
If possible, Id rate this experience 6 out of 5 stars but it unfortunately isnt, hence my long review to give justice to how amazing this dive trip was.Me and my friend both possessed diving licences but hadnt dived in quite a while. I have been do quite some diving schools but Spanish Dance divers were the first to give us a free refresher on the coast, doing some exercises to ensure our safety during the dive the day after.Mohammed, our diving instructor, was both extremely professional, making sure we are always safe, while still embodyin a laid-back and funny attitude. Meanwhile, the boat team, making fresh lunch for us between the dives, was always up for a surprise. When my friends shirt fell off the boat, one crewmember freedived 20m to the ground, somehow finding the shirt, without wearing goggles! Turns out he is an experienced spearfisher and freediver, but that was another unexpected highlight of our trip.Last but not least the actual dives. Mohammed knows the riffs, showed us many fish we would not have spotted ourselves and gave us useful advice.The school is located directly at the beach, with free WiFi and a great team. Everyone we talked to seemed so genuinely friendly and always up for a joke.Long story short: perfect experience, great food/dive and boat. 10/10, would go again.
In my opinion this is the best diving operator in Nungwi Zanzibar if not in the whole island. They have two boats with double engines going out to different locations every day. The equipment is well maintained and safety is always a priority. The manager Lalo and all the staff are very professional and will make your diving experience fun and enjoyable. Asante sana, G

We scheduled a dive for Mnemba Island. We were 10 minutes away from Mnemba and they told us we could not meet at Mnemba Island and had to come another half hour to the shop instead.I called to let them know we just drove an hour on a scooter to come scuba diving. They were super rude and said we will not wait for you and will cancel on you if youre not here in the next 10 minutes.Apparently they think they are to big of a company and can cancel on potential customers anytime.We went with a smaller company and recommend you do as well.Plenty of other diving places with cheaper prices and just as good as experience.
I tried diving for the second time in my life. The day before the dive we had a training, I must say it was a bit frightened, cause you must do some scary exercises under water. But the second day was so great!!! If you wanna do it, dont doubt! This is so exciting 👍😁 Thank you guys) Ali is rather serious but good instructor. The girls Amely and Yana helped us so much😘😘😘 They are really professional and friendly!!! It was awesome experience!
Great people! Very friendly, helpful and focused on delivering a pleasant experience. Equipment is well maintained and processes seem very safe. Emergency oxygen and first aid kit are on each boat. We (and anybody else who has not been diving recently) got a free refresher close to the shore the day before your first dive which ensures that everybody on the dive trip is aware of the relevant safety rules and retrained in the most important diving skills. Our dive master Tanya was really great and David who is one of the persons running this place also made us feel welcome throughout our time there. Thanks again folks!

Very good dive shop. Staff is professional and welcoming, equipment is in good shape and they have strong sustainability principles. Good briefings and enough guides to ensure small group sizes. Discounts are available if you pre-book or stay in the Makofi guesthouse. Great diving experience. The diving instructors/masters are all knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. They offer free refresher courses. The equipment is pretty new and all included in the cost of the dive. They also offer free coffee, showers, and WiFi. :). Plus they have refreshing snacks on the boat. Two thumbs up.👍👍We did the local dive and Mnemba atoll. Personally, we really liked Mnemba Atoll, but the more local dives were nice too.
We booked a dive trip with Spanish Dance Divers. In comparison to other Diving providers we had not a secured feeling. There was no real briefing about the Dive spot we were. You dive with instructor, signaling you have problems with ear pressure and he saw that, gave me an ok and just continued with the group. The equipment had its best times and is weaken by the sea climate. The worst was the boat trip. You will be on a wooden boat regardless of the stormy weather. The whole team freeze, my girlfriend got sick and the staff only rushed from one dive spot to another. No real break or relaxion. You can imagine how you feel when lunch has been served and you go down to you second dive. Some spots are also dead and advertised as „amazing“.In total we have no comparison to other diving centers in the region but we were not happy with this provider!
We’ve had several dives with them, and all has been great!They offer a free refresh course for those divers that need it, and they don’t charge for it!Shee, who seems to be in the reception all the time, is great and funny, and would help with any problem or question you might have.They are a safe diving place, not going below your certified depth, certified and high quality equipment, and responsible practice’s like changing a tank that was 180 bars at the beginning of the dive.They are also environmentally- aware. In our last dive they asked some divers to throw back some shells they had picked up from the diving site.Tsuma, Mchala and Laurie are great, and you will enjoy your dive with them.Fully recommend this centre!
We are so happy after our first ever diving experience! We just did the 1 day discover scuba diving course and went to Mnemba for 2 dives. The crew was great and very professional but we want to thank especially our instructor Tanya as she put up with our inexperience the whole time!!! She was great covering the basics, answering our questions and dealing with our newbies anxieties! Thank you :) The area is simply stunning and we saw lots of wildlife.

Just finished a series of divings with Spanish Dancers. Their operation is very professional and really amazing. I have dived with several guides (Ali, Machala, Bel, Abuu, Beka, among others), all very helpful and friendly. The staff is very organized and efficient, making your holiday a truly great experience. Special thanks go to Shee, the manager, who runs it all smoothly. Location is also great, right at Nungwi beach.
The treatment of the instructors was excellent from the personal point of view. Also the level of the equipment is very acceptable.During the first day everything went well, considering the low visibility and difficult sea conditions. Our instructor, a local guy who was very nice and professional, did whatever he could to avoid the strong currents we had in some spots.The second day, on the other hand, didnt go that well. We had another instructor who spent most of the dive guiding us against a very strong current, without paying that much attention to the group. This created a quite chaotic and uncomfortable dive, especially considering that none of us were experienced divers.
All you expect from a 5 stars dive center and more.I am used to good service, good equipment and good guide team from my world diving expeditions, and I also know what is mediocre and bad in this business, but the level of service, equipment and team in Spanish Dancer Divers (SDD) sets a new category of Absolutely Super, and probably Perfect, but I dont want to use superlatives when I can just tell the story.I got a recommendation for SDD from a DM who used to work there and moved on. That was my first green-light, as X-DMs tend to be highly critical about their previous employer, but this one just told not to bother with any other diving center in Zanzibar. Another said that it is the first out of two recommended places. With these two I made the easy decision to go with SDD for my diving trip to Zanzibar with my 19-years old son.A) Pre-trip responsiveness: David, one of the owners, communicated with me on WhatsApp and made everything crystal clear. Everything he said turned to be correct, and actually, he was very modest. The plan he recommended for me to take was optimal for my son and I. Tell David or Shee, the owners, or anyone of the team, what you want, and they will guide you to the optimal choice in terms of accommodations, meals and off-diving entertainment.B) The first impression was pleasant, the equipment was top notch, the team was helpful and very friendly, and so felt all other customers that were at that time in SDD. They have a working formula at SDD, making the diving experience 100% worry-free and effort-free` they even carried our personal equipment to the boats before we arrived at the center, so all we had to do is fill up the water bottles they provided, and hop on board. Before each dive they helped everyone strap up, and at the end of each dive they helped un up, took off our equipment, replaced the tanks and set it in front of us for the next dive, while we enjoyed the fresh pineapple, bananas, mangoes and doughnuts swerved on board as part of the service.C) The DM team took no shortcuts, safety and comfort of the customers was always the top priority. Although Zanzibar does not offer breathtaking diving sites, the team made them better, starting from the boat crew and ending with the DMs, everyone was professional, friendly and helpful.D) Any problem the customers had, was solved, be it personal or diving related. When I found myself with too old dollar bills (not accepted only in Africa), the owners extended me out-of-pocket cash for the duration of the stay so we can go for dinner and enjoy our off-diving time on the island, without a second thought. At that level of trust (I did not know any of them before I arrived), I could tell they work and live at the same standard, open, trustworthy and forthcoming.E) At SDD what you get is more than what you see or expect. I also think, although I did not do the research, that they are also priced very fairly. We did not bring our own equipment, which was the right decision, considering the equipment we got there; steel tanks, fairly young and well-kept TUSA BCDs, SP breathing systems, comfy booties, good fins and masks, great clean wetsuits; even a driver to take us from the airport and back, and even a guided island tour as part of the package we took.Carefree, pure pleasure diving and vacationing experience I would very much want to find everywhere I go diving (or do anything for that matter).Spanish Dancer Divers – you are truly the best I came across so far.Thank you David, Shee, Beka, Laurie, Lalo, Tsuma, Mohammed, Abuu, Idi, Haji, Juma, Ali, Bilali, Simai, and all of the few I may have failed to mention by name.
Took my advanced open water course here. The staff was super friendly and professional. The staff speaks multiple Languages besides spanish, as American I felt very welcomed there. My instructor Roberto was very knowledgeable and friendly. Their equipment (wetsuits, tanks, boats, fins, and goggles) are very well taken care of. They even offer GoPro cameras to borrow in order to take underwater shots. I highly recommend this Dive company.

A very professional and well-organized dive center with super friendly staff who make you feel as a part of one big diving family. I did an Open Water Course with them - the instructors are highly qualified and adhere to the highest standards. I ended up enjoying it so much that I extended my stay and did an advanced diver course as well. They accommodate any issues or concerns you may have, offer a free refresher course and overall seem to be very attentive and caring.Even after the boat was back from the dives, I didn’t want to leave this friendly place with loungy sofas where you can chill, drink free coffee and enjoy free FAST wi-fi (a big plus in Zanzibar). Also, a speed boat to Mnemba is a big advantage if you aren’t a fan of spending the whole day on the boat.After this, I dived with another dive center (not in Zanzibar), and it didn’t even come close in comparison - neither the quality of the equipment nor the level of organization...As for the dive sites, they are incredibly beautiful with amazing visibility (I was diving in March). Spanish Dancer center made me addicted to diving, for better or worse!
People working here are awesome.Not so much to see though, overall diving in Zanzibar is a bit pricy compared to other locations where theres more to see.110$ 2 dives + 30$ for Memba Island.205 for 4 dives, also visited tumbatu.Can be a lot of big waves, make sure to bring pills if you are sensitive
Did six dives with Spanish Dancer Divers in January 2018. All of their staff and dive masters were very friendly and professional, diving gear was in good shape, Shee at the front desk is great! Tasty snacks and water was provided during surface intervals and be sure to ask to borrow one of their underwater cameras. The shop also has wifi, seasickness pills (if required!), and hot coffee. Would definitely recommend diving with Spanish Dancers for any divers planning a trip to Nungwi. Thanks again for a great time, cheers!
We had a rough day with this company. To be fair the gear and the dive master were excellent- everything else not so much. We were poorly paired with three others- total of six divers, two of them were beginners and had many buoyancy issues hogging the attention of the dive master away from us all for both dives (we cannot blame the new divers as we too were once beginners, it’s the pairing that we have qualms with). While we cannot fault the company for the weather, the seas were very rough making the journey to and from the island (1.5hrs each way) as well as the dives unenjoyable. Worst of all a team got separated on our 15 person small boat and the captain decided to pick up the two dive masters before going back and picking up the stranded couple who were left by themselves in 3 meter swells for ten plus minutes. This is unacceptable and left a terrible taste in our mouth for the company. We paid nearly three hundred dollars for the experience (including tips); if a company can swipe your card for that amount they need to deliver on the experience and most importantly safety of all on board their boats. Perhaps we had an off day, perhaps this is a great dive company- but we wouldn’t dive here again.
We did our PADI Open Water certification in March, and what fun! Doing the confined water skills dives (which are often done in a pool) and first 2 open water dives, just down from the beach was great. The sea life and reefs, especially for our deeper water dives (18m) at Mnemba Atoll, were amazing and the staff, especially our instructor Margaux, were great too - we always felt safe and looked after.The rates are the most reasonable we found in Zanzibar; the boat is the best we saw (only 40 minutes to Mnemba Atoll, whereas some are much slower). Our only gripe is that they make a big thing about free underwater cameras (another reason we chose them) but when it came to our final day (when our instructor allowed us to use them) the cameras had already been booked by recreation divers - surely one should be kept aside for those paying a lot more on a course!
It is not a company for snorklers. Staff are nice and friendly. We took a tour with them to Mnemba in a boat with 10 divers and 3 snorklers. The first swim was ok, nice coral and fishes, the guide didnt say much but at least pointed to two interesting fishes. We didnt go to a different site for the second swim as suggested initially. The second one was not ok, our guide this time didnt speak english (the initial guide was injured by a jellyfish) and didnt even look into the water, the area was also mainly dead coral and not much going on, but I guess they chose it because it was an interesting spot for the divers... oh well. The snorkling is not amazing, but the company didnt help to make it interesting. It was also the highest price of the snorkelling trips - some other dive companies only charge 40usd.
A definite recommendation.We wanted to go diving and snorkeling at Mnemba Island and friends recommended the place for us. The communication was seamless, The staff and instructors were very welcoming, atmosphere fun and friendly, and the overall experience was fantastic.
Lovely first experience in snorkelingMe and my partner we chosed this company and I can say it wasnt a mistake/regret but we had the best moments ever.I did snorkeling at first time but was enjoyable and nice, I saw a plenty of fish species like stone fish etc and my partner had a lot of fun while diving, the staffs was friendly and helping too thanks for Hamis if I didnt mistaken the name ha haaaaa but the experience was Superb!!!!.Just go and try to explore the Marine life with them.

Went for a morning snorkelling trip with this company to Mnemba with a small group of others. Although not the cheapest ($55) they seemed reliable and the trip there only took 40mins as opposed to 2 hours. We saw dolphins on the way which was a treat and the snorkelling was pretty good although the first site got busy pretty quickly. I was a little concerned at the guide bringing food into the water to get fish to swim close, picking up starfish and continually standing on coral. I told him to get off (he eventually did after muttering something) but I guess the other members of the group saw him doing this and thought it was ok which put a dampener on the trip. The general theme of Nungwi is that Ecotourism doesnt quite seem to have landed yet which is a real shame, I sincerely hope it doesnt get spoilt.

Living in Tanzania for 4,5 years, a friend took me to SDD 5 years ago and ever since everything went wrong 😁😁. I had the greatest dives in the last five years, my kids took their junior open water at the age of 10 and got their junior advanced at 12. All done in a professional way by the SDD team. You want to learn diving, go there. 👌👌👌😎😎😎
4-/3+. It was ok. Dive master didnt attract attention to any marine life at Mnemba island. Boat was quite fast. There were some cookies on the board, but they were mainly eaten by instructors.
My first day after having a short refresher yesterday. Very nicely equipped good briefing before each dive and attentive dive master on the dives.
