We had a Waterfall and Coffee Tour with Eric from Materuni Village. It was a beautiful trek through the nature on the slopes of Kilimanjaro and we saw and learned lots of new things about the nature and the Chagga Tribe that lives in Materuni and around the Kilimanjaro. Eric first brought us to Materuni Waterfall where we could take a refreshing dip in the water and showed us a safe spot where we could jump into the water from behind the waterfall. He made sure we got the most out of this experience and were really grateful that we had him as our guide. After the waterfall we came back to the village where Justin explained us the ways of growing and making coffee. We each could participate in the shell-removing and the grinding process while some of the people of Materuni sang their traditional coffee making songs. At the end we each had our own cup of coffee and a delicious lunch after, all of it for the price of 35.000 Tanzanian Shillings which is around 15€. This is a really incredible and inexpensive experience that everyone who comes to the region of Kilimanjaro should add to their inventory!Make sure to also buy some of their coffee and art since that supports the locals directly! They have beautiful postcards and even wooden boards with their Kilimanjaro song that they sing during coffee making.We had the ride up there from Moshi with a Tuk Tuk and the driver came back later to pick us up and bring us back again. In total that was 20.000 Tanzanian Shillings for 4 people (so around 2€ per person). Originally we came by bus from Arusha which was 3.000 (one way) per person so around 2,50€ for a round trip.
