The environment is so beautiful and calming surrounded by lake Victoria it has animals like Lion, Zebra, antelope etc. And lots of beautiful birds.. an ideal national park to visit with ur loved ones once in Mwanza.

Worthy time spent for a weekend gate away with friends. Max was a friendly and charming guide. It is a place that will leave you satisfied if you have limited time and want to stretch and connect with nature when in Mwanza.

The only attraction found near by the city centre. Birds, zebras, Lions, buffalo, Crocodiles, Jumping stone, Dears and everything amazing

Walking through the park makes you feel the nature around. Its all safe since the dangerous animals are locked up.Hiking is part of the walk through the park. The path goes through hills and big stones in the park. Camping is also allowed in the park .

Very nice day trip. For your first trip, make sure to hire a guide. It is not required, but well worth whatever you choose to pay the guide. Our guide was Kevin. He was professional, friendly, spoke good English, had a good knowledge of the animals, birds and the area. He allowed us all the time we wanted in each area. He offered us private space to enjoy things as a family. There is an order to how the guides are picked....but if you ask for one specifically they are happy to skip the line. Kevin greeted us at the gate and pointed us in the right direction to book the trip, so when they suggested a guide we asked for Kevin. We did not see a place to purchase snacks or drinks, so plan for that. There were several wash rooms around the island and were well maintained. Our group of 4 tourists averaged out to about $45 per person (included park fees, tax, and boat) plus whatever you decide to pay the volunteer guide.

Its rich of more than 70 bird species, other animals like lion, peacock, Impala, dig dig, wildebeest, Nile crocodile etc. Its a beautiful place you should not miss visiting in Mwanza region, Tanzania. A nice small island with hiking tracks and nice views inside lake Victoria. This island is historical. It is a very nice place for picnics. it also has few wild animals. there are boats that will take you there every time you need it at your convenience. This place has nice rocks, very nice views and interesting stories of the island. The island is named against the original owner of the island Saanane. It is easily accessed from the city center next to Hotel tilapia. Payments are done via visa. prior bookings are advisable through TANAPA website. any other arrangements can e discussed prior. When you visit Mwanza for business or tour, this is a never miss place in Mwanza

Great clean and island smallest national park with variouse animals. Zebra, antellop, wildbeast and reptiles. Allowing camping at the camping site.

You use a speedboat to get to the park, the ride is smooth.Some amazing rocks in sight, the lake is beautiful, you get to see some antelopes, zebras and several species of birds The park is hot but the trip is worth it.

Saanane national park is a small park located near Mwanza town. I went to this park in 2018 and enjoyed. It is a nice place to visit and spent the whole day. The lions in the saanane island are in the cage and so furious. Zebra here is very friendly and i had some nice clicks from here. Monkey and different birds and small animals are attraction here. And we have nice view of lake Victoria. We dont find more animals here. But it is a nice place to stay and enjoy.

Michael was my guide, he is a volunteer. He took me around the island and was absolutely fantastic. There are beautiful hikes that come with beautiful views of Lake Victoria! Many birds and impressive trees to be seen.

Very small, few animals roaming wild (zebra, wildebeest, impala, monkeys), and a lion pair horribly caged in a small space. Great walking trails, scenery, and a fun, albeit SHORT boat rid to get there. Boat for 3 people (not pp) $35usd, park fee $30usd per person! Worth it ... I guess! Best part was the Talipia hotel next door! Lots of different restaurants under one roof!

Sanaane National Park is situated just 3 to 4 min away from the main land Mwanza (by speed boat). Its a beautiful small island, must visit place if you travel to Mwanza. Can see lot of animals like Zebra, Wildebeest, Monkey, Water monitor, Lion, many more.

Nice place to visit

This Park is like Zoo which has different consept or design, but is good for some who doenst want to go to serengeti or ngorongoro or other big national park... this place i visited on 4th of January 2018. They have only one Female Lion (locked in zoo) some Impala , Zebra and monkey, it is very very limited and is cheap... the place has nice history and nice view of Victoria lake, the guide (and staffs) are friendly and helpfull, if you want to go here, make sure you have Visa,master card or other international BANK CARD because they are not accept cash, only pay with CARD.
