2021 Kili summit trip via Umbwe Route with Matata tours.I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have encountered this company, and more specifically Matata Tours and his team. They added an extra dimension to the trip that I will never forget.In a year, or 5 or 10 or 50, when someone asks me about Kilimanjaro, my first thought will not be of the mountain or path or hike, but of the team of guys that accompanied me up there.Great organization. Great climb teams. Great Food. Wonderful wonderful people, who truly care about what theyre doing.

Our group of 11 from Vietnam took 2 trips from Matata during 12-22 July 2019. 1st trip to Kilimanjaro was amazing, we took the Lemosho route for 6 days 5 nights, 10/11 did summit successfully with great services from guides, cooks and porters. The food was so good, nice tents, thick sleeping bags and hot water in the morning were so appreciated. Mr. Matata is a very very helpful and friendly man, thank you very much. Strongly recommended.

I have been planning to climb mount Meru for years! I emailed Ibrahim and was quick to respond and to make changes to the itinerary and he was there to meet us off on arrival at Kilimanjaro airport even without us calling him.Our plans was to take a shuttle bus on arrival and visit his office the next day before climb! Climbing Mt. Meru was an amazing experience and we had to most incredible views over the crater and mount Kilimanjaro.We were in a small group for most of the time lead by a ranger but on day three when we climbed to the summit our guides ware really great and allowed us to go up at our own pace with plenty of encouragement and even lending us their gloves! If your interested in hiking mount Meru, i would highly recommend Matata tours

Matata tours customer service was the best! They are so professional and truly care about you having an amazing experience. They set up a driver to come pick us up from the airport at 5:00AM. That driver then offered to take us on a city tour of Moshi, which was great. On that tour we got to go to the Cultural Center and a wonderful center that provides opportunities in the arts for disabled individuals. After spending a day in Moshi, we were picked up by our guide Six, who was truly fantastic. He was very knowledgable, kind, funny, and always spent extra time trying to find animals us. We learned so much from him and would recommend him with no questions asked. I would also recommend going on the Maasai tour because its a beautiful cultural experience.

Ive done 3 days trip trough the Serengeti with Matata Tours and it has been a really good experience. They managed to make me see the big 9, provided a surprising excellent food and adapted some logistics details to my schedule. Such pity that I didnt have time enough to make the hike to the Kili with them...

The prices are relatively cheap for mountain Kilimanjaro but dont be fulled by it! They charged 1200 dollars which is the price for the 5 day hike and tips for the guide and cook (2 people who accompany you during the trip). During the trip it turns out that they charged 1200 but they didnt pay ANYTHING to they employees!!! Which is completely unacceptable. Please be more cautious with this agency and make sure they are not tricking you and paying to their employees.

My worst experience in East Africa.I booked the Mt Kilimandjaro tour in their office and they introduced me to my guide. It was an old experienced guy. I was happy to have him. The price was 1020 USD without tips and 1200 USD with tips. I payed with tip.When the tour started they exchanged the experienced guide to a very young and inexperienced guide.At the end of the tour I figured out that the owner Mr Matata took the whole tip. We had a longer discussion about it, even with police. He said In the contract is not written that the 180 USD difference between 1020 and 1200 are the tip. I payed the poor guide and porter their tip out of my own pocket. Mr Matata is know in Moshi for a very aggressiv business owner. I figured this out after my experience with him.Sad for him is that I had three friends who were looking for a recommendation to hike the Mt Kilimandjaro.

The price is lower than the competition. The terms of the contract are fulfilled (climbing Kilimanjaro + 3 days safari). I was pleased with the journey.

I had an extremely bad experince with this agency. Planning the trip with them was a completely waste of time and money.

We chose Matatatours for our tour of Serengeti after benchmarking several agencies, as they have been quite flexible on their schedule to fit ours. It is difficult to judge the quality of an agency when everything is going well (all agencies offer the same tour), but the following is why we want to highly recommend Matata : A tire went flat during the first day (this can happen, of course), which made us loose precious time of game drive, and Matatas team really made their best to make up for it. We stayed longer on the first day to compensate and were the first to leave on the following morning. And it paid off ! First to spot a pride of lions and get the priviledge to get very very close, as vehicules need to keep a distance when more than 2 or 3. When back at the agency, Matata himself offered to pay us a ticket to Dar es Salaam as commercial gesture for the disturbance (which we could not accept, as we were going to Uganda instead). We will be back to Moshi to clim the Kilimanjaro soon, and we will go with Matata with no doubt.

Extremely bed experience

I advise against !!!Ascent of Kilimanjaro with Matata tours, by the Machame route in 6 days. Unless you are used to that kind of ascent and altitude.- Mr Matata: he talks a lot, but during the ascent I realized many lies. The best being that it promises that 100% of people reach the top ^^ and that if necessary we can easily go from 6 to 7 days, just inform the rangers, false!He had also said and written that 4 people would make up the team (guide, cook, porters). This allowed me to realize the amount of tips to provide in addition. But its 6 people who were there on the day of departure! What is damn more tips and budget !!!- The guide (Melikzek): doubtful. At the entrance of the park, certainly in Swahili, but the gestures speak, this suggests that he had to negotiate to get the permit and start the ascent. I never saw his guide card. Information was scarce. Being sick on the morning of day 4, he still made me do the night ascent by attacking at 11pm (still on day 4!). Obviously it was a failure! He refused to try again during the day, claiming that it was not possible, to everyones astonishment when I returned!And in the end, strangely, he wanted me to give him all the tips, and that he would take care of distributing them. He also wanted to mix my tips with the salary before giving them to each member of the team. Weird !!!- the porters, the cook ...: kind and reliable, they took care of my things, and they transported food, water and equipment with agility (difficult, steep and rocky path), always faster than me, and nice! And obviously poorly paid. It seems that the tips lose their tip value according to the customers appreciation, and that this replaces their pay, Ill let you guess who benefits!I advise you to choose a more certified agency! like Zara Tours or Monkey, I could see during the ascent the real difference (organization and treatment of their employee) and their real professionalism.

Participated in a Kilimanjaro 4 night 5 day tour.The decisive factor was still cheap compared to other tour companies.I think the company itself is good, but the guide is a hit.Our guides felt good and bad, but we were satisfied because we were able to safely reach Uhuru Peak.Kiri Climbers and these two companies are famous, but I think there is no difference in service.

I was worried about Kiri Climbers, and I started to enter Matata with a name I had heard. The price is the same as Kiri Climbers, and when you enter the store, there are a lot of notes with reviews from previous visitors, and there are also Japanese reviews, so you can be relieved at the first stage.There seems to be good or bad guides, but if you just say just climb Kilimanjaro, I think its fine here. Kiri Climbers can also rent here, but things look the same. I am very happy because I was able to climb.

The trekking itself is reasonably priced, and the quality is reasonable too. But there is a little cheater temperamentAnd dont buy things. I bought a wood doll three times more expensive .. It was a safari and trekking together.
