Nice campsite next to a fresh river which is nice to take a swim in. Flat spots are few and it might be a challenge getting a nice spot on crowded days. You can drive part of the way to Hululu waterfalls for a short hike. Fees have to be paid at the TFS offices in Morogoro. You’ll find a camp manager at the campsite who will help you in setting up. A cook can also be organized. The staff do tend to linger around which can be annoying. Very basic ablutions available. 4x4 required to drive to the site.
Very peaceful campsite in the edge of the Forest Reserve. No internet no mobile network. Its located about 50km from Morogoro city center. Expect a 2 hour drive since most of the road is within the mountains. River Mgeta passes by the campsite and provides a nice pool for warm days. The campsite caretaker speaks good English. Weve been for a hike to Hululu Waterfall and it was very nice (2,5 hours roundtrip). A hike to Magruwe village was also quite scenic.Permit required to be paid beforehand in Uluguru Nature Forest Reserve office in Morogoro city center (Between Tanesco and Simba Oil). Paid 10 USD ppn including park fees and camping fees.
It took us 1h50 to reach the campsite from Morogoro center. Beautiful area with various hikes to do from the campsite on well maintained tracks (used everyday by villagers). The campsite lays at the river on the rim of rainforest. Grassy shady area. Very helpful caretakers.Permit to get at UNFR office, in city cebter between Tanesco building and Simba petrol station. The collector wasnt there when we went but we could pay later via Mpesa with TRA control number. 10$ pp (non Tanzanian).
