One of my first diving experiences. I loved it !We first met Matilda, she was very nice and welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. Then we dove with Rishabh who was very patient, professional and gave us lot of information. He made our experience very pleasant and we are very grateful for that.Thank you for this unforgettable experience.F
We did the Discover Subadiving and loved it. The instructors was really professional and helpful. We were a bit nervous but got all the support we needed and everything felt really safe. Can definetly recomend trying scubadiving here if you never tried it, it was a fantasic experience and One Ocean Diving personal is professional and friendly! What an experience!
I loved doing my PADI here. It was a small class of 3 and we could get all the attention we needed. It was super relaxed when we came to things I found difficult (taking the mask off under water..) so I could gain the skills in confidence. Thanks to Aakash for being an amazing instructor and of course also to the rest of the team!
Brilliant dive experience! Cant say thank you enough to the staff and our instructor cha cha. They were extremely helpfull with suggestions and took care of everything. They arranged transport from our hotel to the dive centre and back. The dives we did was 45min away by bus and we did 2 dives from the boat before returning. Some needed snacks were provided on the boat after our first dive.We have 4 more dives booked before we leave Zanzibar
We had an excellent experience diving and snorkeling with One Ocean Matemwe. Mimi was the dive instructor for my 14 year old daughter and she had a great time. Miguel on the desk (and in the boat) was extremely helpful and went above and beyond (on his day off) to help us out with some logistics. The diving and snorkeling at Mnemba Atoll were excellent. The only downside was the long drive at the beginning of the day necessitated by road construction and tides, neither of which were obviously their fault. Overall a wonderful experience.
Very good diving centre. They can organise everything around, not only diving. Nice diving sites they dive, very proffessional staff. Special greetings comes to The Chief - nice, friendly and helpful DM and a perfect guide.
Come here and stay here forever!!!It was exceptional...breathtaking!!I mean, I love water, so here it was better than Heaven!!!
Great Diving School. We attended the Open Water Course and it was so much fun! Cécile, our dive instructor was very nice, professional and showed us beautiful spots down in the waterworld. She showed us very seriously all the safety skills we needed, so that we could learn easily everything that is required for a safe dive. Wonderful experience, great team! Thank you so much, it was so cool!
We dove with one ocean divers i jan 2020, made 2 dives in one day at the Mnemba atoll and it wasn’t the best experience. It all could have been so much better by having a well functioning organisation and choosing dive sites more carefully. Since I am not leaving a very positive rating, I will try to be as thorough as possible. Have in mind I have only made 4 dives since I passed my certification, so I might need more support from the divemaster compared to more experienced divers. We chose One Ocean after searching for five star dive centers on the padi website and went with their Metmwe-branch since it was the closest to our location in Nungwi. The center arranged taxi for an extra cost wich was good. When vi arrived at the center after about a 35 min drive there was chaos. No welcome, no information, no line to the desk, there seemed to be no system at all exept a board where we could see the name of our guide. A spanish girl tried to keep welcomes, payments and liability-forms in order but failed miserably due to the center not beeing very well organised. For exempel she sent me to the material closet to pick out a wetsuit although everything was already packed and had to check my diving-card twice ’cause she forgot to mark me up the first time. How they managed to get everyone with the right equipment to the boat is a mystery to me.Since the diveboat can’t come close enough to the shore we were transported there by a smaller boat, more like a skiff. They filled this boat with all 15 people, three persons on each bench and the boat was taking in water on the sides. We might as well have swum.January on Zanzibar is pretty windy which creates a lot of waves and I can’t say that the diveboat we finally traveled with felt equiped for the conditions on the sea, although we were one of the largest boats on the dive site! It had quite a small motor and combined with the rough sea it made pick-up after dives very slow. Although you have your bcd and some air left in the tank it isn’t very nice laying in that rough sea waiting for up to 15 min constantly beeing showered by waves. They also dropped different groups on different locations which lead to different pick-up locations in these rough conditions and again, long waiting. It’s all about making us divers feel secure. Prefereably they would have adapted to current conditions and only had one drop off location that day.The diving wasn’t very good at none of our two dive sites. We didn’t see much, corals are dead around Mnemba, and the sight wasn’t very good due to weather conditions. This is however nothing you could blame on the divecenter.During the dives it didn’t feel like safety was the number one priority, even though we had a good briefing on the boat by our divemaster who was very kind, although we felt he was cutting corners during our time in the water. For example during our second dive i signaled both my buddy and the divemaster that I only had 50 bars left and was ready to go up. Fortunately we were only 15 m deep but I felt we were cutting it to close for me to be comfortable. The divemasters respons was like ”yeah, yeah” and continued the dive for a few minutes and instead solved the problem by holding his octopus in front of me during our whole 5meter-wait. Fortunately I didn’t have to use it.On a positive note our instructor was very attentive of us, our pace, and our buoyancy while in the water, and respectful of the coral and marine life.On our way back we had a 20 min bussride in a ”Zanzibar limousine” on bumby roads that we hadn’t gotten any information about. The instructors in general seemed more interested in talking to each other than to us. It would have been nice to get the opportunity to discuss what we had seen during the first dive, and what the second dive was going to be like. All in all many of the problems and reasons for us feeling insecure mentioned above could have been sorted by a correct and thourough briefing of the day before leaving for the boat.
Loved our dive instructor Tina (Cristina) and Mnemba Island scuba diving. They picked us up from our hotel everyday, and ran everything smoothly and enjoyably! If you’re going to dive in Zanzibar, id recommend One Ocean Matemwe!
Good dive center with good facilities, however two points made me put only two stars:- there was four diving group and one snorkeling group on the boat: we had to wait quite a long time before being picked-up after the two dives. Since there was quite a lot of waves, the waiting time was not that super enjoyable.- the dive master was not very careful. While we were struggling swimming against current he was not checking how we were doing and kept going his way at his pace. He also kept touching coral and moved it around a few times. Lastly, he kept playing and poking an octopus who did not ask anything else than left alone peacefully.
A brilliant diving experience. I booked 5 days of diving, and then booked another while I was there. The diving at Mnemba atoll is beautiful, and the amount of life breath taking. The staff made the trip memorable and couldnt do enough for help. I would definitely choose these guys over anyone else.
Under water you may fly like an angel or a butterfly (fish) was the statement outside the door of the office in the ocean paradise resort hotel, Im hooked for life now!!From the initial form filling to my 4th DSD dive the whole team are impeccable. Now Ive only ever snorkled but took the plunge to try scuba diving and could not have chosen a better team, my instructor Alvaros aka Tapas! Was thorough, clear and calm with all his instructions. My first Ocean dive at 12 meters was very daunting but I was given so much confidence by him and the other crew/team members my confidence regained immediately and I took on their moto to fly like an Angel and butterfly fish.Thank you One Ocean Zanzibar you gave me my wings Im now 100% an ocean holic!!!!
Had six dives with One Ocean Dive in Mnemba AtollPros:- good organisation, everything is done for you- Julia and Miguel are great and welcoming managers of the dive school- many species can be spotted: dolphins, octopuses, different kind of morays, scorpion fish and many moreCons:- Local dive guides were just partly convincing to us, seemed to be not highly motivated- safety was in one case irrelevant (when diving in a group of six, people were sent to the surface one by one and not as a group)- prices are quite expensive to us (probably a general issue for Zanzibar)- Mnemba Atoll as the main dive spot was to us not as spectacular as we had hoped beforehands. Many corals are already dead, the places are quite crowded.- waves and currents should not be underestimated for the quality of the dive. The dive guides fairly deal with it, no offense to them. The conditions just need to be kept in mind.Neutral:- equipment was on two days no issue, another day were a few regulators a problem which was a bit worrying
First class service! Christina “Tina” was my instructor and I couldn’t imagine a better one. She was super patient and very detailed to understand all the requirements to be a great and safe diver!
July, 2019: DSD & Snorkeling @ Mnemba IslandPole pole ndio mendo Everything’s easy here.Very professional and friendly staff. We were super satisfied with both activities we booked with One Ocean. My kids dived with me for the first time and we all enjoyed it very much. Thanks a lot to Nick (Pool Session) & Vera (Ocean dive) for their patience and professionalism.Highly recommended!!!
Did 5 days diving with One Ocean, did not find anything negative. Dive trips were well organized, experienced local dive guides and amazing dives at Mnemba island. Did not rent equipment, but as far as I saw it looked ok. They have a branch in Stone Town as well, what is a differentiator to other dive centers on Zanzibar.
The experience we had was amazing! The staff was very proffesional, efficient and organised, especially Amani(our diving guide). They served us fruits, tea and water inbetween the two dives. All in all I would really recommend this center to everyone, experienced divers or not.
Really enjoyed this centre and my PADI lessons with Charlotte. Diving material is in really good shape. The Mnemba atoll is really fantastic.
Good option for mixed groups of divers and snorklers. Professional operation with a focus on safety. Dolphins spotted four days in a row.
Great staff and great placeSo happy to have met these guysCant wait to come back
Amazing dive center with great service. I went some time ago already but they were very professional. Dive sites and visibility in the waters around were amazing.
Excellent super friendly team and great diving
First dive ever. Amazing and safe experience.
Super Professional. Great atmosphere. Good diving spots.
Amazing experience!
Super professional, a great place to learn how to scuba dive with.
Friendly staff, organised and supportive.
Great place if you want to scuba here
I did my OWD here and everything was good. With SAM I had an absolutely competent and patient diving instructor at my side right from the start. Both during the first exercises in the pool and later in the open water, I always felt comfortable and SAM always radiated security with his calmness. The communication over the water in German and English worked perfectly and with SAM as a buddy I would dive again and again. It was my pleasure!!!
Very very disappointed with my diving experience in this center ... a complex and precarious organization with change of boat between departure and arrival on Site. The only place of diving is overloaded by the snorkeling activity and many boats transform this islet in the Indian Ocean as a paddling pool for tourists!! Huge disappointment added to a weather making visibility poor under water !! The almost 2 hours spent diving did not allow me to see mountains and wonders...
Not recommended for experienced divers (AOWD, 100+ dives)Diving center caters primarily to inexperienced tourists. Our two dives were only 35/40 minutes and in a group of 5 divers with a guide. That means in plain language:- having multiple divers and fins in view at all times- Very heterogeneous ability of the participants- at the end of the dive still 120 bar in the tank
A great place. Great and very responsible approach to the customer. They care about safety, have professional equipment and have procedures. There is no makeshift or easy way. Not only the owners but also the employees are very recommendable. For the price you have quality, equipment and views. We heartily recommend and greet Julia
Staff at the top.Very reassuring.Incredible snorkeling trip!
Good dive center despite the fact that they take you to a dead coral reef with about fifty people in one place. The staff is competent but not pleasant. This is a real industry, do not expect to be well received, really bad considering the prices charged!
Too bad we havent seen much with this stirred sea. We didnt get a chance to see dolphins either. The club is very well organized to manage outings. But there are too many people in the groups
Good equipment, our guardian - 2 sessions of 40 minutes was great
Very welcoming, the staff is smiling, attentive and cheerful.Super snorkeling we had the chance to see dolphins!
Very organized, lovely staffrecommendGreat organizationThe staff are respectfulI recommend diving with them
Superb charming, great service, amazing diving site for both snorkeling and scuba diving.
Unbelievable
