Staff are incredible and helpful, beach is beautiful, food is amazing with variety, really good infrastructure with pools being cleaned constantly, felt at home, made to feel relaxed and given an ease of mind. Spa facility is something out of the movies! Amazing place and even more amazing people! Well done Fruit and Spice!
Our travel agent booked the wrong rooms. However the hotel manager was quick to upgrade us to private bungalows with no charge. Amazing service. Tasty food. Passion fruit here is to die for. Nice beach. Tide swings every six hours. So you can walk out 200m and collect shells and crabs. The only down side was the road into the resort which was bumpy but I’m being really picky here. The sunsets are postcard worthy.
We really enjoyed our stay here! It’s a wonderful resort, well maintained, on a beautiful spot. Stuff is simple amazing! We never met so wonderful, honestly humble and attentive people. African massage in the spa is highly recommended. Wi-if was good- we managed to have zoom calls without any problems. Thank you for such amazing hospitality everyone!
DO NOT STAY HERE THIS RESORT ROBBED US.I never thought I could be so disappointed in a resort. I would give the “resort” zero stars if that were an option. Coming from someone that travels the world pretty regularly and even stayed at multiple resorts while staying in Zanzibar, I can say that fruit and spice is a waste of money and probably one of the worst resorts in Zanzibar , it is nowhere near a 5 star resort. Aesthetically pleasing yes, but with staff were terrible, you have to chase down for service and they never go the extra mile to ensure your stay is going well. We had many issues with fruit and spice here’s our list* We were ROBBED on the first night - we had arrived that night and put our bags in our room closed our curtains locked our door and put up a do not disturb sign (we were at dinner for 30 mins max) we returned to our bags opened - our wallets raided and our door unlocked so not only do they steal but they also don’t respect the do not disturb sign.* NOT ONLY DID THE STAFF ROB US BUT THE RESORT ALSO ROBBED US. we changed our reservation 12 days prior to arrival and they guaranteed us a refund for the night we removed (thank god we removed a night it was that terrible.) but upon arrival they postponed the refund everyday and then denied it through our third party when we left and acted stupid over the phone as well as WhatsApp like they couldn’t recall it. We have still not received our refund from this 0star resort.* Tells you times for meals and then never serve at that time (were late 30/45mins every night)* no reception phone in rooms (not that reception even helps.) - we asked for a bandaid on night one and were ensured it would be brought to the room.. it never arrived and we asked everyday (so note to self lacking first aid)* The bedding and towels are disgusting quality. Towels are scratchy and had bleach marks on them and the bedding (if you can call it that - all you get is a sheet and ONE fibre filled PILLOW PER PERSON - I mean not even feather quality but only one pillow and a sheet….there is no give in the pillow and you need a chiropractor appointment the morning after.* takes 45 mins to get a beverage, that’s if the bar is even open. If you order a water bottle you will be waiting 15minutes because everyone is so lazy and uninterested.* Lunch menu is the same every day and the menu is like off a kiddies restaurant menu. It’s less than appetising and flavour less.* water pressure in our room was nonexistent (hot water dripped) and on the one day we had completely no water for 6 hours !* if you want to eat with dangerous monkeys harassing you for food and trying to bite you then eating here will be great for you or if you are normal and don’t want dirty monkeys eating off your plate and the buffets then don’t go here and go to the doubletree in nungwi.Definitely avoid the fruit and spice at all costs Rather book at the double tree by Hilton in nungwi - staff are amazing ! Food is amazing! Service is 10 stars ! Bedding and rooms are at a much higher standard and reception actually works 😂
On November 11 2021. Went there to have a drink. The place is nice but the service... We had to wait 1 hour to get our drinks, then when it was time to get our change back the waitress left us alone for 45 minutes. Coming back with no change at all. We started to get angry because it was more than 10 dollars. She called management for another 20 minutes pretending not to understand us. Réception finally gave us the change. At the end she just wanted us to loose patience and leave. The waitress was truly dishonest and just wanted to rob us.

Resort is spectacular. Unbelievable location, beautifully maintained gardens and rooms are great (and clean). Organisation for excursions and surprise plans you may make is so-so, food REALLY needs improvement and the music around the resort is completely unfitting. The people/staff, however, are amazing!!

5 stars all over. Amazing hospitality, brilliant staff. Their food is just great. The chef himself will make your stay fabulous. Rest is bonus. They dont have beach, one should keep that in mind to manage expectation. Instead they have a jetty area which is just and awesome place to sit and enjoy the vacation as one should do. They can improve on reception when guests come in. It takes a while for the new guests to check in which should not be the case. Given the resort is quite big, its self contained and you may not feel to go out at all. Everything is in there. They arrange for excursions at discounted prices. Reaching resort could be adventurous as its quite far from the main road and you will have 3-4 KM bumpy ride to get there. Once you are in, you feel like in heaven you paid for. Highly Recommended.
Our stay in Fruit&Spice was unforgettable experience. We had remarkable jungle villa with beautiful view, hearing birds and bush babies outside. I loved the aesthetic of the villa design made with great attention to details. The last but not least was excellent service. Julius and Sofia organised amazing private dinner for us and Jasper was always around to make sure that everything is all right. I wish we couldn’t stay longer. I absolutely recommend the place to everyone!
Wonderful experience at Fruit and Spice; we were very sorry to leave.First of all, it is truly beautiful, and well taken care of. The staff is very friendly and sees to your every wish.The food is excellent, fresh , and a wide variety to select from. It feels like going out for meals every time.We will definitely find our way back to Fruit and Spice!
Filthy rooms and unusable pool. Poor cleaning services. Rooms full of dust, insects, worms, roaches, ants, spiders, butterflies and so on.Damaged toilet, and very low pressure for water.Hostile staff at reception and hidden taxes to be paid at the check-out.Hope they will fix this.
Perhaps one of my least favorite hotels in znz... its not what it seems like in the pics... for the price you pay; the food was sub standard, rooms were dim and basic, no activities at all and its far so once youre there youre stuck doing nothing... the activities offered by them are extortionate.. would either stay at the residence which is close to it... Or somewhere in stone town, paje or nungwi.
And absolutely beautiful and relaxing resort! Loved every bit of it! Just a little note to those first time visiting Zanzibar, it is a little far from a lot of activities, it took us about an hour and half to drive to stone town and around 2 hours to get to Nampula (up North). However the resort does offer excursions and pickups for those wanting to do some activities. It is also a little on the pricey, I’d recommend going full board if you plan on spending full days at the resort. WiFi can get a little problematic, we also had an issue with our AC leaking but they had sorted that out for us immediately which was great! Lighting in the rooms aren’t that great either, especially one would like to get their makeup done. Other than that everything was amazing, including the views from our balcony!
We absolutely loved our stay at Fruit and Spice wellness resort.We initially planned to stay 2 days and then go to the city and stay there for the remainder of our stay, but the standards was so high at fruit and spice we had to go back.The staff were absolutely superb and the facilities at the resort as well.I will definitely go back..
I booked 10 nights in a luxury villa for my family holidays. The hotel asked me 10 days before departure to pay by bank transfer to their account in Malaysia or Western Union to someone in Dubai. I refused and recommended they charge my credit card instead, which they refused pretending they were upgrading their system at the very same time...Of course, I canceled my stay as the practice is of course not acceptable. My vacation got ruined. I got a reply later explaining they got their email high jacked. I did not even get an apology or a compensation to come back later...
This hotel claims the following on their website: More than 31 days before arrival: full refund (bank commission at your charge). We did this, but the hotel refuses to refund our money. Theyve been tying us down for months. They no longer respond to our emails. It seems like they refuse to provide a solution.
Bad choice for hotel. By far not worth its money. The hotel feels empty and isolated with no proper road. There is no hotel car so you have to wait 2 hours for the taxi. The dolphin tour consists of zero dolphins and the boat is also very slow. The place itself is OKAY...not worth the money though because there is no beach. Not to mention the worst concierge I have ever come across in any hotel. The only reason I give 2 stars and not 1 is because the food staff is very nice and they try their best to meet everyones needs.
If you want to be treated like a king and a queen, choose the fruit and spice hotel. This hotel deserves a sixth star for its staff who is genuinely kind and friendly, professional and always smiling. Special thanks to the lady at the reception, the two Sophia,Kefas and Jackson. The place is breathtaking with its pier, private beach, pool, turtle nursery and well maintained garden. There is a Maasai village right by the hotel that you can visit where events are organized every Thursday. You can get a bike or go on insane excursions organized by the hotel. I highly recommend the white island tour. Rooms are very large and always clean.Knew
What an experience, it was so amazing.We arrived to such friendly and professional service, after they had sat us down and checked our passports we were treated to ice cold coconut water in the coconut cut open and decorated with bougainvillea flowers while we waited for paperwork to be processed.We were then escorted to our room which was nice and cold from the air conditioning and so super refreshing in the zanzibar heat, the room was beautifully decorated with hibiscus flowers.Fitted with a massive bed we found ourselves having a quick nap before going off to enjoy lunch which is freshly prepared at the poolside bar.Lunch was delicious and so were the cocktails so we proceeded to the crystal clear swimming pools, where we found ourselves relaxing in the sun.We stayed 5 days and had chosen the full board option and it was worth each day all 3 meals were fantastic with something new and fresh every day, the choices are huge and there is such a wide variety, each night having an exotic option as well as chicken or beef, but no matter your taste theres definitely something that will catch your attention.As for the service...It was amazing, there isnt a single unfriendly person working at that resort, and everybody greets with a smile and an energy that makes you feel almost as if you were at home(except with beautiful scenery, amazing food, huge swimming pools and sunsets on the beach that are absolutely breathe taking)If youre looking to get away and have an amazing time and go home feeling completely relaxed then the Fruit and Spice resort is definitely a good choice, I would recommend it in a heartbeat.I hope you all have as great a time as I did, enjoy!

Absolutely amazing! By far one of the best hotels we have ever been. Amazing service, delicious food, very clean and well-maintained, AC and fridge in the room, friendly staff - all made an unforgettable vacation. Snorkeling available not far from the hotel (make sure to arrange a trip to the White Island one day in advance - you will not regret it), swimming with dolphins in the ocean early in the morning - all can be arranged by Omar, big thanks to the guy! Maina, Amur, Habiba and many others, thank you all!The hotel is isolated, has a beach nearby, in the evening you can see big crabs roaming around, bushbabies on the roofs in the spa areas, fireflies, geckos and big plated lizards 🦎Looking forward to coming back!
This place is amazing the set up is super however i would not recommend this place as the general manager is racist he treated us like we are black slaves on the run and also giving us bills that we did not spend. when we arrived no one gave us a tour of the place some of their features at the resort we had to find out the next day of which we only spent one night and already the treatment we was getting forced us to move to another place

Very nice food, beautiful rooms and huge and beautiful garden. But you wont get to know the real zansibar. I recommend this for 3 nights to relax and If you want to get to know zansibar, go to places like matemwe, nungwi, stonetown etc. because this hotel is very lonley, there is nothing around.. only there you wont get the real zansibar vibes!

The hotel looks very good, beautiful nature and so on. Cons: upon arrival there was no hot water, water flowed from the toilet, disgusting internet, money was stolen from the neighbors from the safe. We are from Ukraine, now there is a war in the country, the money is spent on tickets and accommodation. They take money from us FOR WATER 3$!! The rest of the hotels provide lunch, free accommodation. Even the towels are dirty.
Very nice, well-kept facility, quiet and secluded, yet it offers many local highlights. We had no water in our room, which annoyed our receptionist, but didnt find a solution for 2 days. After we got the manager involved, we were quickly given a better room. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and we were able to relax at the end of our Zanzibar trip. PS: The monkeys are especially cute!
A 5 star? That the prices unfortunately live up to these stars. Very slow service (never in a hurry), low standard rooms and infrastructure, recurring blackouts, no pool service, cleaning of the swimming pool while swimming, filling old bottles (shower gels, etc.). In short, the hotel manager, an Italian, is only looking to make money from his customers. What is a shame is that the employees try to do their best, but have no training. I therefore advise against this hotel.
A favorite for fruit and spices! Everything has been designed so that you are relaxed and ready to fully enjoy the island. The food there is very good. The staff at the top! I loved the Maasai evening on Friday. Its very lively and the setting is breathtaking. For those who like to take beautiful photos you will be served. 😅😅
Very nice facility. We stayed at the Superior Fruit and loved the rooms. The small laid out private beaches are also super nice. Likewise, the food and the staff are just great. The possibility to book all excursions directly from the hotel is great and the organizer is extremely friendly and courteous. Would recommend the resort to anyone who wants to visit Zanzibar.
Beautiful facility, you feel very private. Drinks are of course quite expensive or at the same prices as in Germany (soft drinks 4 USD, cocktails 8-10 USD, wine 6 USD ...) but the food is great and the service is great. The tours that can be booked were not as expensive as expected. 5 days were enough for us, however, because we are really isolated. It was a shame that the hot tub on the beach was freezing cold. We had the Garden Jungle Accommodation.
Great hotel for the money. Ollinklyuziv must have. The food is super great. Instagram is 100%. The service is decent. The main problem is that there is a hard dirt road about 5 km away from the main road. With a rented car, you can drive around the entire island in a few hours. Low tides are not a problem at all. Compared to the touristy nungwi and the north of the island as a whole, it is downright cool here. There are many Russian-speaking people, but in general, well done 😀From tips:1.to take villas by the sea, ordinary rooms in the building are so-so, weird2.to take allink or full board3.car rental for 3-4 days4.kite surf station half an hour away5. excursions of norms from beachboys. The best hotel in Zanzibar, the place is quiet without fuss, a large territory, monkeys and limurs, big turtles live, I advise everyone who comes to this hotel to rent a car, it costs a penny, see the whole island in 6 days, go to all the beaches, we even they popped into the military base, though they werent very happy with us there, but they let us go! The hotel is located in a picturesque place, the food is very tasty, but you need to get used to, there was a lot of new things for us! I recommend the hotel to everyone, next visit to Zanzibar, we will definitely come back!
Were at the hotel in December 2016. and 2020. More greenery, opened an additional beach, excellent. Keep in mind that during the day the ocean is low tide, the schedule is rescheduled. Disgusting internet. Surprises in 2020 For 10 days, the light was turned off for 6 hours and the water was turned off three times. There are many children in the hotel. Nature, living creatures, everything is fine, but according to the classifier, not 5, but 4 should be. Very nice and well-kept structure surrounded by greenery. Very nice staff, all extremely polite and helpful both the waiters and the staff of the rooms who arrange them twice a day. I only noticed that the towels in the rooms and on the beach are not super clean ... Anyway ... good food and quite assorted as dishes. Great location. Hats off to the Valtur entertainers who, while not doing real animation since it is a resort, have made this stay a beautiful experience. Thanks to Fabrizio and Alice
A cozy, green hotel with its own beach. At the end of the world, it gives a sense of intimacy and peace. A variety of rooms, cottages, villas. There is no special infrastructure for children like a playground, but the swimming pool is gradual in depth. The breakfast menu is not very diverse, but the lunch and dinner offer is wide.
To be very honest I put 5 stars, because the staff are adorable and of quality, they make an effort for the French and that is nice, they are really adorable. on the menu every evening there are new things, they are traditional dishes it feels good to discover good things. there is different entertainment every night. the rooms are spacious, indeed if you are looking for a palace this is not the place, the premises are traditional. I would like to make a special mention for the SPA, it was AMAZING. The mega + of this hotel is the beach!

Actually a very nice hotel. There is next to the large pool a very nice beach section. Guests can also get by well-designed wooden stairs from slightly higher-lying hotel areas very well to the sea.The food is delicious, the service staff are very friendly.However, the large rooms are extremely noisy. The wall to the neighboring room is not at all damming; You just hear every sound as if you were in a tent.
The hotel is located in a beautiful place, the service is very nice, the food is very good, a large selection of dishes, everyone will find something for themselves, even vegetarians (always for people who do not eat meat at least 3 vegetarian dishes). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!
A delightful place. A vast area with nooks and crannies throughout. Villas can be rented. There are comfortable sun loungers, hanging platforms, hammocks of various types near the pool, pier and on the beach. Large swimming pool, pier with sunbathing and relaxation areas. Large beach on the shore with beach bar, restrooms. Swimming in the sea is convenient at high tide. At low tide, the water leaves, making bathing impossible. But there is always a clean pool and jacuzzi on the beach. Kayaks are also available, including those with a transparent bottom. There is a cafe by the pool, where, in addition to drinks, you can order food. Breakfast and dinner are served in the main restaurant. Good selection for breakfast (Buffet), fresh juices, fruits, scrambled eggs. Dinner is always richer and different every day. Dinner is accompanied by live music every other day. The hotel has good masseuses and different spa programs to choose from. Next to the spa is a kindergarten for turtles. But we didnt find him. The turtles were transported to Nungwi to the turtle farm. Monkeys and large crabs can be seen in the spa grounds, if youre lucky. Near the hotel is the village of Massaev. The hotel organizes excursions to the village free of charge. But you should adhere to the schedule - at the reception.Very friendly and helpful staff!
