We spent 7 nights at Amani Home in Mbili. The suite has a lovely, modern decor and just enough space for two people to be comfortable. The staff is well attentive, friendly, and thorough and Elena was very responsive and helpful. Everyone made sure that we were comfortable and had what we needed. With that said, there are a few things to be aware of. The toilet seat was unappealing and neither of us could bring ourselves to sit on it despite it being cleaned daily. The shower is tiny and the bathroom floor got soaked each time we bathed, which was annoying. We felt safe in the community and everywhere that we visited in the country. But you should be aware that most guesthouses, and hotels are located right next to extremely modest local homes. I did not take pictures of this out of respect for the locals. I understand that Elena has no control over this but some people may want to know and should do their research before arriving. Also, the beach is nowhere near private. In fact, it is an integral part of local life, they use it to fish in the morning and night, they plant algae to sell, and depending on the tide, you will often see many people walking the beach looking for sea creatures, and harvesting the algae etc. This did not bother us at all, although we preferred visiting the beaches with less algae/seaweed. However; we were very disappointed when the tide levels which frequently changed because of the new moon made the beach one of the most dirtiest beaches that Ive ever seen and Ive seen my share of dirty beaches. There were tons of plastic bottles, fishing nets, tops, and flip flops on the beach for the last 3 days of our stay. Once again, I know that Elena does not control this but it is something to consider. There are a fair amount of places to eat in walking distance but you should have a driver or rental car handy.

WORST OWNER,I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH.Arriving at Amani home , we were shocked as the “villa” three bed apartment is located in a middle of a broken down disadvantage village. We called Elena, to share our feelings and we were automatically dismissed because she said “this is Africa, what did you expect”Following on from this we tried to tell her our point of view of walking past this and entering “luxurious ,private beach villa” and the way it made us feel uncomfortable. After we told her this she hung up the phone, we called her back , and she automatically started talking about the remaining 25% of the balance left to pay. She completely disregarded our thoughts and told us to go wherever we like and she will call the police, if we are not paying the remainder straight. After this she calmed down and came back later to us to show us another accommodation that was not fitting to the price that we paid and we tried to be mature and let it goAfter an awful evening, we communicated with Elena to let her know the villa had not been properly cleaned before arrival. She said that they will come tomorrow to clean the property.Once waking up we realised that :The windows, the bathroom , the mirrors, the kitchen The toilet flush were not working in both bathrooms, dirty bedding !The front porch/ garden is full of branches the sun loungers and outside equipment is dirty. The floors is filled with dry food and bird poo.Having sent pictures to Elena again straight away she is referring back to the money without ensuring that the problems at hand were sorted. Her attitude is not professional, it’s condescending and rather threatening and strictly about money. There is no costumer service. Please be aware that it is advertised as a “private beach” but this is not the case , it is open for anyone and there is a lot of people walking past and also fishers and locals pickings shells.I will attach a few photos in the picture categories, including conversations between us on WhatsApp.Please think twice before booking. If I could put no stars I would. If you would like more up to date videos or pictures please do not hesitate to ask

Really rude owner !Villa is not cleaned properly. The beach sand is full of dust and this was never shown in pictures.Alena is only talking about money without carrying about our comfort. Both toilet flush are not working.Kiwengwa beach has a big low tide. Nungwi is much better. There is no swimming pool and its impossible to swim so disappointed to be in Zanzibar on the beach in this condition...She is only looking after money, no customer service. So disappointed...

Very nice and new location directly on the beach. Nice and friendly host and team that made our vacation as convenient as possible. Elena runs the hotel with passion and hearth. A very nice person.Extensive breakfast included. We appreciated the hints and tips from Elena regarding restaurants, trips, excursions and other things. Many restaurants around (in walking distance at the beach front). The own menu and dishes are also very good so that you easily can stay at the hotel if you like. All things optional, nothing is a must. At any time we´d go there again and can stromgly recommend a stay at Amani Home
