Had such a brilliant time...the staff are ever so friendly and helpful..and the food and entertainment everyday was excellent. Kudos to Jonathan for giving his personal attention and assistance .Highly recommend the resort...would certainly love to visit again.

We loved our stay at this resort. It was our first time in Zanzibar so we booked this resort on the East coast. The hotel is super nice- the staff is incredible and goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. They are always so welcoming and greeting you with a smile. We booked the all inclusive stay and the buffet is fantastic! What really stood out is the delicious curry and rice in different flavors every day. They also make fresh bread and have a pasta bar. Fo breakfast they can make you fresh pancakes or an omelette aside from the intercontinental breakfast. We enjoyed the delicious fruits every day. For those who aren’t vegetarian, they grill fresh fish or beef every day. They also have a huge variety of desserts and drinks. Every night they had a band playing live music at the bar that was very enjoyable. One night they even had dancers they were incredible- doing traditional dances and backflips. The rooms are very nice and clean. They have two pool tables along with a restaurant and bar. The pool is also very nice and there are lounge chairs everywhere along the beach to use.
I’d definitely recommend the hotel to everyone! Common spaces are the place you’d want to chill all day long, food was very tasty, rooms quite spacious (I’ve heard most of the people had some problems with their showers though). A big round of applause to the whole staff, service was absolutely welcoming and we felt taken care of.

The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff and service is exceptional. The beach is amazing with white sands. Possibly the best beach on the island. The buffet is good but can do with more choices. A pleasant stay.
We enjoyed our stay at Bluebay Beach Resort as honeymooners from start to finish despite us travelling in the rainy weather, we experienced wet first 3 days there.The staff were very friendly and welcoming. And made us feel at home. We booked a superior room, it was very spacious and clean. However, our superior room didnt have a clear view of the beach as we had thought it would have from the description. The food was so good, fresh and we had lots of variety everyday for all 3 meals.The resort upgraded is to the all inclusive package which meant we didnt have to pay for our meals and had unlimited access to some selected soft drinks, water, local beers and cocktails. It was amazing.Dass, the hotel manager was also really great and helped coordinate our activities with his activities coordinator, Sajeed.I would definitely go back but this time during the drier season :)
Had an amazing time at Bluebay Beach Resort, the grounds are beautiful,clean and not crowded, a lovely place for a get-away.The rooms are spacious ,clean and nicely decorated.The staff are friendly and helpful,we always had great service during meals and even while sitting pool side.The food was interesting and different , with a good variety to pick from.The spa was clean and a great experience.The staff helped arrange our itinerary so we could experience more of Zanzibar.The manager Dass was always ready to help and make sure we were enjoying our stay.Overall great experience and would definitely recommend it.

I have never met before such a friendly staff in a hotel, everybody are helpful, always with a great attitude, literally making your holidays the best time in your life.I was impressed by the beautiful, daily tended garden with lush vegetation.A place rather for people who travel without children, I definitely recommend it for a romantic holiday for two or for a group of friends.Live music in the evenings, table tennis and billiards available.

Large rooms, rich meals all inclusive (breakfast, lunch & dinner).The bar is always available (closes at midnight if i remember correctly) and my stay included alcholic beverages (not all the classic cocktails, but beers and wines available).Sea is fantastic. In this potion of the island the tide effect is strong so you will enjoy the best sea in the morning. but it is very easy to go on tour in the island and explore different beaches.The Resort has for you to use several SUP boards, kayaks and windsurfs: perfect relaxing vacation
Incredible experience at this top quality resort. Highly recommend treating yourself to a few days of tranquility and top quality service. The location is perfect and the facilities are excellent. Delicious, fresh food for all meals and dinner is always an occasion with some form of local entertainment. The staff were by far the best part, so genuine and friendly, we really felt right at home and were definitely sad to leave. Cant wait to return for another visit. Thank you!
Great resort and staff is extremely friendly. Only problem was the malfunction of the safe, which broke down four times in four days. Secondly for us, being a five star resort, we would have preferred to have a better quality and selection of liquor. Beer selection was fine, food was presented beautifully, plentiful and top notch.
Recently came here on my honeymoon. We absolutely loved it. It was definitely the little piece of heaven we were searching for. It was very relaxing. There were never too many people around and it never felt crowded. We loved the pool and the views of the beach were stunning. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the food and drinks and would highly recommended this place to any friend traveling to Zanzibar. They also made it easy to get out of the hotel on excursions by having trusted tour operators in the lobby which was a great help. Thanks Blue Bay for an unforgettable honeymoon!

Loved the hotel. Beach isnt that great. Service is awesome. Had to force the manager to relocating rooms. Since the our assigned rooms were very far from the beach and we had a toddler with us. Food was really nice. We were on full board biases and the breakfast, lunch and dinner were all really nice. They have a gymnasts come in and perform in the evening. Show was great. Our toddler loved playing in the kids pool. It was clean and clear. General surrounding were clean as well. Staff managed dietary requirements well. Overall great experience.ShortfallsAll inclusive wasnt all inclusive. Lots of drinks werent included in the package.
Fantastic hotel , with good services
Spacious, beautiful, clean rooms with great view from the balcony ( we opted for a Superior room). The staff is wonderful. Everyone from the lady at the reception, to the servers, and the chef . The chef was truly amazing. He catered to all our dietary needs at a moments notice. Truly an enjoyable vacation at an island off the coast. The only con I had about his place was the lack of openness at the beach . You couldnt just walk to the beach and jump into the waters. There were stairs that needed to be utilized to get on same level to the waters. Plus the waters are not the cleanest near the shore.
Not crowded. Polite service, you feel all the time that you are on vacation to relax. Hotel is next to the beautiful beach. Food is nice with a mix of local and European flavour. Each dinner is accompanied with music or some additional performance like local dancers or tribal music, so you can fell like you are in Africa.
Very good hotel with everything thought about. The rooms are very spacious with mosquito nets over the bed, every room has a balcony looking at the ocean. Cleaning lady come twice a day, morning for the general cleaning and tidying, and evening while you are at dinner to spray against mosquitos and set the mosquito net properly over your bed. Food is served as a buffet, drinks are extra charged at the checkout and are a bit expensive. Every dinner there is a live band playing nice relaxed music across the pool. There is a very good spa and water sports club. Staff are super nice, we really enjoyed our stay.
The environment is nice and well kept, food is good. However, my experience was marred by the management and front desk staff. Management tried to scam me and a few others that booked through 3rd party sites claiming they hadnt received payment from them even after we had paid fully on those sites. They said we had to pay again. Only after we resisted and insisted on speaking to their HQ did they say, 24 hrs later, that the issue was resolved. This spoilt my last 2 days there. Also, we had a guest from another hotel come chill with us in the room one afternoon and a front desk staff rudely called and accused us of harbouring a 3rd person in our room. Very unprofessional and rude. I wouldnt stay there ever again. Nicer hotels/resorts on the island of same and better quality.

Great resort and value! The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable. Perhaps only lacking 24hr room service. The food has good options for breakfast and dinner and the evening entertainment was fun, especially the breakdancers!The resort also houses one of the islands best dive schools too.The resort also has access to a beautiful beach which is great for swimming.

We stayed here as a group of 7 people for 2 nights. The food tasted great but there was a large piece of glass in the food. We complained to the manager and they removed the dish. They didnt compensate for the mistake until the day after when we were leaving. They offered us a complimentary lunch but we couldnt really take advantage of it because we had to rush to get our boat to dar. We have requested the reception for late check out for one room because we had a small child and because we were now staying for the complimentary lunch. The reception staff agreed but then later revoked their offer. I felt this was poor customer service and when we tried to discuss the matter with management we didnt receive a positive response. The customer carried the burden for something offered by staff without management approval. Very poor customer service on this matter.
The best thing about Bluebay is the staff. Everyone from reception and chef to landscape and waiters very friendly and approachable. The hotel has undergone some renovation and is in good shape, rooms are comfortable and clean. Lots of choice for entertainment, food was fantastic and a range of restaurants to pick from. 20min flights from Dar-Es-Salam followed by an hour drive.
VERY WELCOMING PROFESSIONAL ATTENTIVE STAFFS. A great place to be and relax. The resort offers everything you want. Staffs are amazingly friendly. Rooms are very nice, food is great, superb musical entertainment at dinner, gardens are well maintained, nice Spa and many more features and amenities. Nice beach going on for kilometres. Shaded sun-loungers. Perfect to relax. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Stayed 10 nights and honestly could have stayed longer. From the moment we arrived we have loved it.We were received with fresh wet towels to wash our faces and a divine mango juice. Even though we were early our room was ready and more beautiful then we could have imagined. They really put a lot of effort into every detail. The staff are extremely friendly and love it when you learn and try to speak their language. The Masai guard the hotel and are lovely. The food is great, breakfast and dinner are fantastic and bountiful. We enjoyed the vast amount of fruit that is served with our meals. Good tip: take your time with the beach boys, dont be scared to talk to them, you need to be firm and negotiate but once they understand what your plans are then they should respect you. We had a wonderful trip through a beach boy so they have their benefits.
Even though its not the newest property, the refurbishments really gave it that new contemporary decor feel. Beach was very nice but under a thin layer of fine sand there it is kind of grainy shelly sand. Waters lovely though.Kids area and carers were great and friendly of was awesome. We would definitely go back.
No way it is a five star resort! The rooms are in serious need of updating. The furniture is worn out the bathrooms are very basic , the towels are worn out and gray colour.Overall the service was slow, and the employees seemed to either be lacking in training The food options were pretty limited. We tried to get lunch one day and were waited for more that an hour for our orders.it was all a let down after having been on safari prior to our visit, but the service was really substandard by any measure. The beach is disappointment, because you cant swim in the ocean until 3 pm when water arrives. I wouldn’t recommend this resort.
Great service and very friendly staff from the grounds people to waiters/chefs to manager. Ione is never left hungry and there are lots of beautiful choices. The breakfast leave you still wanting to have more. The rooms are spacious and very clean
The staff are wonderful. The prices for drinks brings the place down. US$5 for a small bottle of beer is almost four times the usual price for Zanzibar and Tanzania. US$3 for twice as much beer.There are no prices anywhere, so you feel rude asking. The cheapest bottle of wine is US$28 and that wasn’t very nice. The next one is US$42.So expect to spend A LOT of money if you want to have a drink during your relax.The lady who manages treats the local staff quite rudely when she speaks with them. Not sure what her nationality was but she speaks very rudely.This is a resort and they do put on some fun activities. There’s a free gym and a noisy swimming pool. The bands and performances in the evening are pretty good for a resort and the food is very good. Although breakfast needs more thought.There’s another resort very close at the back and it’s extremely noisy, the other thing is you don’t get much time to yourself. The beach is packed with touts telling you that you aren’t supporting local people and they won’t leave you alone. You literally get mobbed when you get on the beach and then when you are on your way back. They can be quite rude, especially considering that I did work with local people on planning our excursions. The older guy, Muhammad, was lovely though and well worth chatting with. He can get you beers from a local shop for much much cheaper that the resort.He can also help you organise any of the trips the resort offers for a fraction of the price, we did this and it was great.The resort has a laundry service. It’s the most expensive thing I’ve ever seen. I will try to upload a picture of the price list! But basically three T-shirt’s, two pairs of socks and two pairs of underwear, washed and dried, will set you back over US$28
I stayed at Bluebay recently and what an absolute pleasure it was. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. I really tried to find something wrong, but I couldn’t. It was a perfect 6 days. The resort itself is spacious and well laid out. I would say choose a superior room. Mine looked out onto the ocean and was quiet. The gardens that the hotel is set in are spacious and open. They are very pretty and very well maintained. The room itself was ludicrously spacious but with no dead space. For Zanzibar, a hotel room with good air conditioning is a must with the humidity and my room didn’t disappoint at all. The bed was very comfortable and enormous and the whole décor of the room is really charming. Loads of wardrobe space and a big safe. The bathroom was lovely & big, and the shower was great. Whoever was cleaning my room kept it spotless and the turn down service at night was superb. The internet while I was there was fast enough in my room to stream Netflix one night in bed.I have seen in reviews that many people complain about the beaches on Zanzibar. For me the beach at Bluebay was perfect. It has an elevated narrow strip of private beach with sun loungers and sets of stairs going down to the public beach. The public beach does have some stuff on it like bits of seagrass but that didn’t bother me. I did see the staff frequently cleaning both their own beach and the public beach which I thought was awesome. The sea is nice and calm and perfect to cool off in. There are people on the beach trying to sell you stuff. That is only the public beach though and if you aren’t interested you just tell them you aren’t, and they move on. You don’t get hassled. The resort’s private beach has security guards stopping anyone coming up that isn’t a hotel resident, but I didn’t see them have to stop anyone. You feel so safe and you can leave your stuff by a lounger and not feel like someone may swipe it away. The elevated beach is lovely because it gets the wind coming off the water and it at times is sheltered by the trees so it’s perfect to lay out. However, if you don’t like the beach, the main pool is great. Loads of space so no fighting over sun loungers. Great sun all day and the pool itself is huge, spotlessly clean like everything else in the resort and a perfect temperature. It’s also big enough and deep enough to do laps in.The food is amazing. Tasty & delicious and even after 6 nights the variety on the buffet was great. So many different courses to choose from and genuinely full of flavour and delicious. The chefs are nailing it. If you don’t want the buffet, there is a separate restaurant which is a la carte. I had pasta and it was a good size portion and very tasty. There is a nice lunch alternative at the coffee shop where you can order a sandwich. The coffee shop is great for pastries as well. The donuts are to die for.Whoever the management team are, have done a fabulous job with the staff because everyone seemed genuinely happy to be at work everyday. Yes there is always that feeling in hotels of how much the staff are putting on a fake smile for guests but at Bluebay all the staff seemed really happy and are always smiling. I was greeted by any member of staff who walked past me and made to feel so welcome. The staff didn’t just stop there. There were people like Joyce on the main bar who had memorized my name and drinks preferences and every night would ask me which one of the three I wanted. The Food and Beverage manager greeted me several times and asked me how my stay was going. So many staff would not just say hello but ask me how everything was, and it didn’t feel like they were just doing their jobs. They really seemed to want to know how I was doing.I didn’t try the spa or the gym but I will do that next time I come back. The weather was so nice even in the rainy season that I just wanted to sit in the sun and relax and I was really sad to leave. I will come back to Bluebay in a heart beat.
Three stars only for the Good Hotel Staff, the good food at Italian restaurant and Bar. Stay is very average with rundown rooms, no hot water, no toiletries, broken doors and the management seems to be lost in their own world. If you have a choice there are better places at this price. This cannot be rated anything above a 3 start Resort.
This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The images of the rooms shown online do not compare to the room I got. The quality of cleaning in the room was very poor, especially the bathroom. After complaining about the room, the manager took several hours to deal with my request. This manager was unprofessional and doesn’t understand the concept of customer service. I could go on and on about how disgusting the standard of the roomroom was, but the pictures inserted speak a sounds words.Mirriam

The hotel is far from being a 5 stars, at the actual conditions it’s 3 to 4 stars.The facilities are quite old and need a serious refresh.Our room had windows and doors in wood, but they were so bad treated that they could not fully close and some mosquitos could get into the room (see the pictures)Only half of the jacuzzi in the swimming pool was working. Also, the grass on the rooms area was not even cut. Most of the the Beach chairs had rust and some off them were broken, which is dangerous...The only water available had to be paid, something that is not common on a supposed to be 5 stars Hotel. Also, the dinner buffet did not offer much food for children, given that it had a lot of African and Asian dishes. There was not much variety from night to night.At breakfast time there were big lines for personalize dishes (such as eggs or waffles).The electricity power failed some times (2 nights) and the Internet was often bad and some places had bad connection, something that sometimes did not allow me to work.The beach is very good and clean, we really enjoyed it. Also, the hotel provided some activities that were fun and interesting, such as a session about coconuts and hydro gymnastics.The staff is very kind, a great percentage of trainees were always offering to help and ensuring everything was fine. Some staff even sometimes offered some fresh coconut water from the trees.We don’t recommend it as a 5 star hotel.

Big beachfront hotel complex with bungalow style apartments hosted by some of the friendliest staff I have met. Everything was in good working order and any requests were promptly dealt with. We had a big apartment with a huge double bed, probably big enough to sleep four comfortably. Breakfast, lunch and dinner as a buffet with an ample assortment of dishes and well cooked tasty food. The only complaint is the blandest coffee outside the US. All dining areas offered a spectacular view of the Indian ocean and the silhouettes of the Masai security staff. Highly recommended.

Going to Zanzibar and not staying at Blue Bay would not have been the same experience! It was the best stay I have ever had.When we arrive at the Hotel, they welcome us to paradise. You have to experience this hotel to truly understand why ... Even so, I will try to describe what you will find.The Hotel is beautiful. Located at the best coast in Zanzibar. The beach is breathtaking.The gastronomic experience that Blue Bay provides is amazing. I staid at the hotel during the COVID19 pandemic, due to the low occupancy during these periods sometimes buffet was not available but a varied menu was available with two options of starters, soups, main courses and deserts to choose from. I was delighted with the food, and that doesnt happen often to me when I travel.In addition to the swimming pool, gym and tennis court, the Hotel provides kayaks, stand up paddle, windsurf and kitesurf boards free of charge. You will also find a ping-pong and pool tables, and a mini multi-language library.As in the vast majority of the beaches on the island you need to take into account the tides (available for consultation on the internet and at the hotel) both for swimming and for water sports. Depending on the tides variation, it may not be possible to swim or practice water sports. Given the quality and variety of complementary services offered by the hotel, this wasnt a problem. However, I strongly recommend planning your day taking into account the tides, both at the hotel and outside (tours, etc). Only in the north of the island (Kendwa and Nungwi) we can swim all day, but note that they are very touristic areas, which despite being very beautiful and worth visiting have not won our preference for accommodation.There is a diving club at the hotel which is managed separately. Mnemba atoll is just 15 km from the hotel.The rooms are spacious, have a super comfortable bed with a mosquito net and air-conditioning. As the all other areas at the hotel they are very clean. The superior rooms have a fantastic view over the beach.Every night the friendly staff spray anti-mosquito, which combined with the mosquito net keeps mosquitos away.A safe is available on your room at no extra-cost. It should be used as a preventive measure, we considered the hotel very safe. The island is safe too.This hotel works great for both families and couples on half-board and all-inclusive options. The hotel is nicely located with good access to other interesting places in the island.The internet is available throughout the hotel, it is free and of excellent quality.I have to emphasize the commitment and affection of all the hotel staff, their only purpose is to provide the best for their guests. I loved meeting them all.I Highly, highly recommend this hotel.
This place is paradise. Perfect for a weekend gateway, honeymoon or business stay. The surroundings are clean, the beach is clean, the air is fresh and pure, the food is nice and tasty and they had a live band at night which was very entertaining

I stayed in the hotel from 7-10 / Jan.On the second night I tripped over a chair in the swimming pool, got a blue eye and Brock my glasses. The team was very attendant and assisted in cleaning the wounds. But when I asked for compensations I was told that only the manager can give us an answer. We are still waiting for the manager to show his face:(

For this prise not more then 1 stars. I paid for all incllussive and i got nothing (from the moment i come here they onlly want to charge me something). The room thet I get was to far from the beach,from the restoran,from everything,I paid for ocean wiev room bat I get wiev only on to palm and trees. The staff is so unorganized. For now very low grade. Beside thet the beach is nice. If you are comming in this area on Zanzibar the Neptune pwani is definetely better choice
