This is by far the most beautiful, friendliest, best organized place you can find in all Tanzania.We came first in 2012 and swore to come back one day. So we asked Chris and Louise if they could imagine hosting our wedding at lake shore and the old missionary church nearby. Not only did they agree to host us, but went over the moon to make it the most beautiful and special ceremony and party.Lake shore resort is an incredibly beautiful piece of land but it is Louise and Chris and all the helpful, well trained and warm hearted staff that make this place magical.If you can get yourself out of those cosy hammocks with lake view you can go sailing, kayaking, snorkeling, quad biking, diving, fishing, dine like a king and see astonishing sunsets. Time definitely flies at lake shore lodge.Think of anything you need or want and you can be sure they thought of it first and already got it ready for you.There is no place like lake shore. But really, words can’t describe its beauty. That’s why we convinced all family and friends to travel all the way at to lake Tanganyika to find paradise.Dear Lou and Chris, thank you so much for making this the most memorable week of our lives.

Louise and Chris are born to be hosts. They look after every aspect of your stay, and accommodate and anticipate all of your needs. The grounds are gorgeous, with loads of spoilt pet chickens and geese and two adorable dogs. The lake is crystal clear, the nights are utterly silent and full of stars, and the food at the lodge is delicious. Our Defender had engine trouble and they went ridiculously out of their way to assist us several times. This sanctuary that Lou and Chris have built is peaceful, as well as perfectly and generously managed; it’s a true oasis. We stayed 3 weeks and we loved it- we dove, water skied, kayaked daily, swam on the beach- what a wonder.

Best campsite in Tanzania and a must-stop in any western self-drive circuit. Campers welcomed and so well treated. Large shady campsites, clean and well designed ablutions. Access to all the lodge amenities, especially the wonderful restaurant on the beach. We even left with fresh baked bread and homemade humus. Among other activities : kayak, snorkeling, walking to the old mission and to the village. Perfectly good access road. We wished many more places like this to be developped all around Tanzania.

Words cannot desribed the beauty of this place or the hospitality of the owners. The food was delicious! This can be expericed, not desribed. A tasty breakfast with fresh fruit, lunch is a flavourful more light 3 course menu, and for dinner an whole new set of 3 course meal. The waves from the lake is carming, and to sit and read a book becomes a whole new experince. The pictures are taken rigth after lunch, from my table. Free wifi is that feels important.

Best service ever,its quite a long drive from Mbeya its about 485kms, from Sumbawanga its about 130kms,here you will find fresh fish,swimming on Lake Tanganyika,loving and caring maids.Mr Chris and his wife treats customers as their guests at home so you will surely enjoy your visit here.

Great place, friendly staff, kindly host. A lot of options for different budgets and a good services in all of levels. Amazing landscapes and the best place to enjoy the lake and recover the energy.

Most stunning lodge I ever stayed at in TZ. Just a great whole package, alone the way there is worth it, great scenic roads and paths.

Great location... Great food, great host Lou and Chris... The best of the West without a Shadow of a doubt only took me 5 years to get there but well worth the drive... And now I know where to return to when needing that magical escape...camping option with the best facilities Ive ever seen.. spacious Bandas with shared shower/toilet facilities again top notch and very high standard.. Then the chalets... Very very nice great chic design all on the lake shore... The perfect retreat
