Mountain bikes house is an awesome hostel! The workers and owner are really awesome people and are willing to go above and beyond for you. We stayed here before our Kilimanjaro hike and decided to stay there after also. Just a short walk to Moshi town.

I booked the hostel since it’s a popular place but I was quite disappointed once I got there. My dorm was full of dust balls. For those dust balls to have formed, no cleaning had been done in that dorm for a hot minute. I left the place with bad bad flu. The only thing I loved about it is that it’s away from town in a quiet neighbourhood apart from Sunday mornings (there’s a church around). The host is also a nice person. I can only book it again if the hygiene levels of the hostel are looked into.

An ideal hostel for backpackers and travelers on a budget. As the name suggests, its theme is bikes. For those looking for bike adventures the owners organize for off-road biking in the wild. Owners are very kind and hospitable. Food is available on order.

The 4 person dorm is ultra tiny. Outside there is a little Chillout area that can be nice, but often there are too many people of which you dont know if they are staff or just random people hanging out and often they drink konyagi early in the day. The owner mukzin is really nice though.Lots of kittens. So if you are allergic you should avoid the place. If you love kittens your heart will melt.

Price is fair enough. Highly recommended. We had a good time, fun, laughters and wonderful experienced. We will definitely come back here again...

Wow.... how to describe my stay at mountain bike house? What a place! Not knly do Muskin, Ibra, Catherine, Junior and Noel make you feel like one of the family, they welcome you to one of the best families Ive known. They care for each other, for their guests and for the world around them.I was there for five days and enjoyed everything from dancing in nightclubs to singing by the campfire, I saw golden sunsets and the icy peaks of Kili glowing silver in the moonlight... no word of a lie: the place is magic!!Also recommend borrowing a bike for a tour of the coffee plantation followed by some of the best beef Ive had for a long time! If youre feeling more adventurous, they can arrange for a motorcycle to visit the local hotsprings - just make sure you double check that youre visiting the right one!!I know that the family have exciting plans for the future as well, so, depending on when you read this, you might find you get even more!!Best place in Moshi by a long way....

One of the pleasant experiences in Tanzania, the reason I give this place 5 stars is for the ambience. The staff is very friendly and some of the Tanzanian locals hanging around the establishment can actually have interesting conversations!! We did not stay in the bungalows because they were booked but they looked very cute and obviously simple.

Im very sad to have to write this but I feel that others should be aware that the owner of Mountain Bikes House (an old friend) scammed my friends and I out of 600 USD for a safari. We were told to pay up front in cash before leaving on safari and then were surprised to have to pay again at the lodge. We were assured that it was a miscalculation and were promised that we would be paid back but unfortunately this never happened. Its upsetting that Mountain Bikes House was unable to properly budget the cost of the safari and charge us what was originally quoted and agreed upon. Even more so that they have been unable to explain where the cash went in the 2 days we were away and have stopped replying to our messages. Otherwise, we had a great stay and the staff all seemed lovely. I would just advise others to be careful when booking trip packages with this hotel. Really disappointing, especially from someone we trusted.

I spend an amazing week at the hostel, staff, food, location, and view are incredible. You can see Kilimanjaro while eating your breakfast, all the place is made of wood and green. A peaceful place to stay and relax but you can also join them to go to party and its a lot of fun. Asante sana for all rafiki yang ! Moshi is also a great place to cycle so do not hesitate to hire a bike from them or do a tour with them. And they reserve you some other surprises as well !! Highly recommended, the best place to stay in Moshi !!

The place doesnt look like the pictures at all. The full place is dirty, it was built by a non professional resulting in uneven and crooked floor, dangerous nails everywhere, unstable stairs... The mosquito net was full of holes and it was so dirty it was sticky. It rained during the night and it rained in the room, including on the bed! I would not advise to anyone to go there, even for cheap budgets.

This hostel was one of the most comfortable and welcoming hostels that Ive ever stayed at. Everyone that works here is incredibly nice and remembers so many small details, like how you like your eggs in the mornings. We were based out of here for around 2 weeks while we were exploring Moshi and this place felt like home immediately. All the other guests and people here felt like family. Muksin was so helpful with information and recommendations, one of the absolute nicest hostel owners Ive ever met.We also stayed in one or the bungalows for a few nights, which was very nice. Frankie the dog guide led us into down on numerous occasions and accompanied us to the restaurant close to the hotel. We had a few extra days to try and fill while in Moshi and decided to try out the mountain bike Safari that Muksin had told us about. This was probably my favorite experience in Africa so far! Mountain biking down dusty trails while passing Giraffe, baboon, and antelope was incredibly cool! It also felt very safe the whole time, as we had a Jeep following closely behind. I loved that the park the safari was in was a much smaller park with guaranteed animals sightings of a lot of the savannah animals (with the exception of big cats) we saw such a huge variety of wildlife in a park that felt much more intimate and quiet than the caravan of incoming tourists that I expect from the Serengeti. It was super interesting to see Maasai wandering on the plains and being able to interact with them. It was also nice to have to option of a Safari jeep whenever we wanted it instead of the bikes to go sightsee. I highly recommend this safari to anyone looking for a shorter, cheaper, and different experience from the big parks. Definitely one of the most amazing things Ive done in my life.

To sum up we have not a good experience.Showers and hot water is Ok. Also safety. Breakfast is good, including scrambled eggs and toasts. On the downside we must advice you not to follow staff recommendations. We were sent to a gift store where we got scammed with doubled prices. Also the ride to the city and taxis to the airport are highly overpriced (90.000Tzs vs 50000Tzs)...One day we made the coffee tour with one of the guys from the front desk ( as a paid guide). He let us being scammed once again by people there (banana beer 10.000Tzs, while the real price in town is 500/1000 Tzs...)In the room the lamp and the electric boiler were broken. Wifi comes and goes like in most hostelsTo end our journey, before leaving the property, they tried to charged us for a beer we had not drink. They offer daily dinner which was ok (5000Tzs)When we left the room after 5 minutes they had cleaned it and in the bed was exactly the same bed sheet as the one we had.On hostelworld they were supposed to accept credit card but they didnt...

The mountain bike house was such an amazing place to stay!! It’s definitely home away from home. I have traveled all over the world and this has to be the best place I have ever stayed. There is no place else in moshi that comes close. The staff are so friendly and helpful! Each morning eating breakfast with views of Kilimanjaro is hard to beat and the family style dinners will have you feel right at home! I definitely will be coming back, thanks for all the great memories!!

Absolutely amazing atmosphere, super friendly staff and the owners become your friends over your stay. This is a popular place for people to stay who are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Dorms are on the better side for a hostel, but everything else was so much better than any hostel Ive ever stayed at and for everything that is offered, it is incredibly inexpensive. If I am ever back in Moshi, I will stay here again no doubt

Great Hostel with a lovely atmosphere. The breakfast is not that big, but with a magic view on Kilimanjaro. Good to meet people, but also to relax. Home cooked dinner is served at night. I really recommend the bungalows. And last but not least, Rahim the owner is great, kind and makes you feel at home. We were a little sad when we left.

I really enjoyed staying at Mountain bikes house. It’s close to the city centre and way better for experiencing the ‘local life’ than staying in a hotel. The owner and staff were helpful and friendly whenever I needed advice or ideas for either day trips or finding the best shop. The house and rooms were clean, the garden perfect for a day to relax and there were always fresh fruits to grap between the delicious homemade Tanzanian meals. I’m happy that I stayed there and can only recommend to others!

A great place to stay in Moshi. The place is locally owned, which I prefer over foreign owned places. Staff is very helpful and always in for a chat. The rooms are ok, I hurt my feet on the cobblestones several times and the corners were a bit dusty, but the beds were clean and soft. They organize several activities such as a sunset tour.

We had an amazing experience in Tanzania. The biggest contributor to that was choosing the right place to stay. We flew into Tanzania to hike Mount Kilimanjaro and enjoy our honeymoon. Mountain Bikes House made everything seamless. We booked our hiking accomodations through the hostel. They provide airport transportation, breakfast, dinner, laundry service, wifi and so much more. The rooms were clean and everyone was very inviting.

The best stay we had on our trip to Tanzania was undoubtedly at the mountain bike house eco lodge. It was comfy, cozy and the staff was super friendly. You are going to meet a lot of interesting people, because of the wonderful vibe. We were sleeping in one of the eco-bungalows - and I can’t say enough how beautiful those rooms are. Just stunning! Every detail is handmade and you can see that it was created with a lot of love and effort. The food was awesome and offered variation for every one. We loved to hang out in the social areas of the lodge, just to relax or to discuss the next steps of our trip. The lodge is run by Muksin and his brothers, who are having a tour-company as well and can offer you all kind of adventures in Tanzania. So there is no way you are having a boring second during this stay! Thanks again for making this the best time of our vacation.

The Mountainbike house is one of a kind - high, comfortable standards accentuated with beautiful African features. You will detect colorful patterns all over the compound, along with artworks from local artists. Muksin and his crew are so welcoming, caring, kind, attentive and above all, fun! The food is super delicious and the sunset bus ride pure magic. The African TV aka bonfire brings together locals and travelers and always assures great company. If you are coming to moshi, make sure you stay with Muksin, either in one of the dorms or the super charming bungalows. From there you can visit the hot springs or be taken away by the breathtaking beauty of materuni waterfalls, only a brief car ride away.

A brilliant new eco hostel in Moshi! I LOVED my stay here- it has a really homey, comforting vibe. The breakfast is delicious (eggs of your choice, pancakes, fruits, toast, and cassava) and so are the dinners (which have vegetarian options!) DEFINITELY do the sunset tour- you take their army green bus, drive to a watermelon field and drink beers on top of the bus beneath Mt Kili while watching the sunset! It was a true highlight of my stay! I stayed for 4 days and cant wait to return next time I go to hike Mt. Kili!

Stayed at Mountain Bikes House in August 2018. Muksin kindly welcomed me and showed me around the ongoing creation of a great refuge for cyclists and travellers looking to relax and unwind for a few days. The slopes of Kilimanjaro and tracks around Moshi provide some great cycling opportunities, ranging from one to multiple day rides. A hub for cyclists who have their own bike or are looking to rent a bike and get some information on the riding options around, is much welcomed. The accommodation here is peaceful, relaxing and provides a good opportunity to meet other guests. Hope to return one day.
