The Shadow restaurant is directly at the beach. We’ve been there two times. The fish was grilled and delicious. We recommend this restaurant for eating fresh fish at the beach.

When I say gorgeous is the gastronomic meaning, because we are talking about food.A restaurant made of reeds, on the beach next to a school from where, curious children will throw you inquiring glances in the hope that they will receive a candy (pipi).Accustomed to not eating in the resort on trips I stopped at the least showy restaurant on the beach with a blocked seafood menu.The first time we were three people and I was impressed by the way of arranging the food on the plate, by the tastes that tickled my taste buds and made me focus exclusively on food. Excited about the first visit to the restaurant I returned, this time 13 people.With a little tight-heartedness, because there were too many of us, but with the thought that everything was solved here in Zanzibar pole pole, we ordered and Chef Muchea asked for a 2-hour respite to prepare the meal.I returned with my 13 friends and received the most copious and rich menu! The orders were exactly what he had asked for, the arrangement in the plate perfected. Sublime tastes that made the 15 people heard as a choir worshipping such a perfect meal.Congratulations Chef Muchea and I hope that the next time I come back you will be closer to the Michelin star you deserve.

We stopped here for lunch and didnt expect mush since it looks like a simple hut. But the food was extraordinary good! That was probably the best octupus we had on Zanzibar so far. The waiter was extremely friendly. Thank you so much!

Chef Mcha cooks very tasty and local food. Highly recommended is his masala and chapati bread. Also the prices are very fair. We have been there several times and would always come back.

Reasonable price for Matemwe, given there are more hotel restaurants than local. Id ask whats available the quickest if youre in a hurry and then add 15-20 minutes on what youre told 😁. You can order then go back to your hotel or go swim (if the tide is hide). Ate here 2 nights and had informative conversations with local boys who were trying to practice their English. Go check it out if you are in the area, but of course dont go hungry (its made to order). The sauce (curry as they call it) was amazing. NB I asked for the peppers in my photos, thats not how its served.

Great food at a good price right on the beach! Hospitable and friendly staff, definitely a place I’ll be coming back to! Come here and take a look, they have a sign out front, but it’s not super clear it’s a restaurant until you see inside. :-)

Good food, super friendly and amazing location right on the beach. There are a lot of hotels along the beach, but this is the best place to find real local food at good prices. The workers are really friendly, and you cant beat the fantastic view of the ocean right there from your table. The food is cooked to order, so be patient. We really enjoyed it and would definitely go back.

The food was bad. Went to this place for the nice reviews on google and trip advisor but had an ugly surprise when we got there. It s the only local restaurant in the kilimajuu area but its not worth it. Had the seafood pilau. Way too much spice, the rice was mush, there was very little seafood. You have to wait about 1:30hrs for the food. Poleee poleee

Very small portions and they dont serve beer! I had tuna with rice: the tuna medallion was very small and the rice was horrible. My husband had the pilau wich was above average.

A cozy, friendly and most importantly local mini restaurant on the beach where tasty food and happy people merge to give you the best experience. We found it by chance after a boat trip. Food is delicious and cooked with love. It was very clean and the staff is so cautious. We completely trusted the owner and he prepared for us a little bit of it all. Simply delicious. Would recommend it to all who wanna get away from hotel food and are brave enough to get a deep dive in sea food local delicacies. Hakuna Matata!

I recommend a cottage in a cool atmosphere, with friendly service. The food we ordered, tempura calamari and prawn salad, delicious, for a good price. Once we waited for food for about 20 min. But the average waiting time is 1.5 hours. Only the juice was slightly watered down and served in a small glass, which is average for this price. The restaurant is located by the beach and you can enjoy the views while you eat.

A nice discovery on Matemwe beach. A local restaurant in a small hut, minimalist, but where you will be received with lots of attention and kindness. Young Amore was very caring! Very tasty dishes, we ordered fried bananas with squid and octopus with potatoes and salad + fruit salad and drinks. Everything is very tasty! I didnt expect much, I was resting nearby, I decided to stop by after reading good reviews. I ordered shrimps in coconut sauce. They were really delicious, with vegetables and rice, but there were about five shrimps. Good and helpful guys brought me coconuts by order. Maybe worth it. try a different dish.

It doesnt matter that we waited an hour for food, but when I order the most expensive food from the menu (20000, -) India ocean seefood pilau so I expected something other than a bowl of rice with a few pieces of seafood. Big disappointment. The only plus cold Coca-Cola and water.

Unfortunately, we didnt hit it right.Local climate, prices for the quality and comparing other local restaurants are quite high. We waited for about 2 hours, everything was cold and 1 out of 5 dishes was missing. Maybe 5 people in the restaurant is too much. For a little more you can eat deliciously in magic zanzibar or kivi.
