Absolutely one of the best experience in my life. I travelled here by safari vehicles from Dar Es Salaam, and I have to admit, 6 hours travelling by car is really difficult, but as soon as you come into the National Park, when you see giraffe crossing the motorway, you forget all that journey. We were told by our guide that we were so lucky because we saw 4 lions, two male and two female. Its kinda difficult to spot them. Beside lions, we saw and made excellent pictures of elephants, giraffes, zepras, hippos, monkeys, birds, antilopes.....Tips:1. Bring a good camera(with good zoom, 30x will make nice pics, i made photos with that type of camera)2. Bring mosquito repellent.3. It is advisable to go to safari once in the evening and once in the morning, two drives (to choose that type of safari tour) because it is likely to see all of the animals in the National Park.4. Bring snacks, you might get hungry.
Must visit once in a lifetime place.6 hrs from dar e salaam but worthwhile. If going for one day then start journey at 0400 hrs and reach there by 1000 hrs and start your safari game drive by 1030 hrs.Charter planes service also available inside.Park also has a small canteen just near the main gate which sells merchandise and beverages (no tea available). They also offer free WiFi which is good for tourists. You can see Lion, giraffe, rhinoceros, elephant , wilder beast, Warthog, antelopes, deer, African buffalo, baboons and zebras (may be more if youre lucky).Depart from park by 1330 hrs and reach dar e salaam by 2030 hrs due to heavy traffic down the lane.
Amazing park in Tanzania a few kilometers from Morogoro town and 4 hours drive from Dar es Salaam, has a hippo pool with alot of hippos and crocodiles...many gazeles, impalas, monkeys, zebras, giraffes and on a lucky day will sport the big cats and lions...there are open safari vehicles that charge around $100 for a six seater...theres a baobab tree for tourist to climb and take photos makes it even more adventorous
Its beautiful natural national park where you can meet with all big 5 amongst the wild beauty, the guards are well oriented and take you all around to view the nature in its extremes. I guarantee you will love the place, do not plan to miss.
We loved Mikumi National Park. Great variety of animals and beautiful landscape. We stayed inside the park at Mikumi Hotel just inside the gate. Rooms were nice. Got to see pretty much all the animals we were hoping to see and also got to see lots of lions. Wish we could have stayed longer...did not want to leave.
This was a great experience very great our tour guy was amazing both days his tracking skills was next to none he put us where we could see th lions and we even got to see the vulture eating a gazzel carcass that was the best part they have many different varieties of animals you can see it was just an amazing experience cant to travel here and do it again

Wonderful place, we had much funIn the first there was some delay in the entrance but after that every thing goes in the right way, the guide was good, the car was good every thing was secured finally seeing the animal live in front of you without any cage, it worth the effort and the money to try. It was a nice experience to be there

The park 🏞 is good and enjoyable. I advise you to have a tour and see the beautiful animals in mikumi national park Tanzania
Although its the smallest park, it was a lot of fun. Great adventure here, got to see 3 of the big 5 in half a day.
Not a lot of tourists, but loads of animals, especially large groups of impalas and giraffes, less zebras but still a lot of them. We saw some lions, there were also leopards but they hide very well so we didnt see them. Priced accordingly and within a days drive from Dar-es-Salaam.
Closest Park to Dar Es Salaam City. Nice Place to visit
On the way you can see wild animals
Mikumi is a nice place .there are beautiful animals that love you.
We should visit our parks and promote internal tourism aspecially by our selves Tanzania peoples..
Great adventure. Great place to be. Managed to see the big 4 in two hours en route from Songea to Dodoma. Loved every moment.
Nice view, many animals.
My second time here, the first time it was dry and was able to see more animals, even lucky enough to spot a pack of lions. This time there was a lot of green this also more difficult to spot animals, saw the usual giraffe, elephants, zebra, etc but no luck finding the big cats
Beautiful place for refreshment and learning more about animal and nature
Great Park, really under-rated compared to its more famous neighbours but everything there to see in a days game drive with the right guide.
A big National Park with a lot of Animals with a wild look.
Beautiful to be in the nature among wildlife. Despite of early morning, we couldnt see lion. They dont take cash as they only accept card. Slow service at the gate but waiting was worth after seeing lots of giraffes, elephants, impala, and others
You can easly see animals
I would recommend to go around july august when the bush is not so thick so you can see all animals clearly.
Visited this park from Pakistan. it was very good experience to see such wildlife in real life, zebras, deers, hippos, crocodiles, leopard, giraffes, bulls and elephants. elephants were amazing, came very close at a few meters distance looking at our safari jeep. great memories.
Hundreds of animals (giraffes, antelopes, gnu, etc). We saw lions within first 20 minutes of driving. Relatively affordable as well (~35USD)!
It was so beautiful everything around is just stunning, we so two lions ,many elephants ,zebras, hippos, different species of antelopes, giraffe, and so many more I strongly recommend it and this is the right time to visit and see many animals coming down to drink
My guest Enjoy the game drive in Mikumi National park. Us Bakwaya tours and Safaris we recommend more people to visit there.
Seen all Big 5 less lion...gr8 place
I was not happy with the amount of time we spent at the entrance reception. It took the staff nearly two hours to sort us out for us to pay to get in and there was not a lot of us at the reception. What took them so long to get us registered? First this long paper registrations. Then the problem with payments, slow imputing of information by staff and in then after waiting for so long there was a problem paying by card so eventually we ended up paying cash. As a visitor to the country I was put off by the slow registration and slow imputing on computer again. We wasted so much time by the gate by the reception that by the time we were allowed to enter the park we were already exhausted and didnt spend much time as we wanted to inside which by the way was a vast area to cover. We really appreciate the help of that guide who went with us. He made up for the lack at the reception and helped us all the way. God bless him.
The park has amenities inside. Getting in can be complicated, only cards accepted or dollars for foreigners, TZS only for locals? I recommend doing the safari on your own, especially if you want to take pictures, so you can drive in your own pace. Our tour was a bit rushed. Other than that, I recommend the park, its very big and good chances (if not guaranteed!) of seeing the top species.
If you are living in Dar Es Salaam or just close to Morogoro, Mikumi is the best chance to have a Safary experience. There are plenty of animals in the park specially birds, jirafa, elephants, cebras, impala, búfalo and also you can see lions.People from the park are very kind. You can order your food in the camping site restaurant just entering in the park at the right side. The place is wonderful and there are nice views of the animals resting around. The price is not expensive.
Beautiful but its not yet the season some animals where not available
Mikumi National Park is a lovely and beautiful place to be. The natural environment and animals variety make it out of this world. It is not a cheap place but nature is not an artificial thing when you can it is a place to visit.
The park itself is great, but I find it weird that you have to pay two times entry when you sleep in the park for two nights. So you stay there in the park and you dont enter the park again but if you stay there two nights you pay two times entry and thats weird. You do not enter it again or something in the time that you are in the park and sleeping there.
Its was nice but abeat accpensev suparet entrance suparet transport
Its good for sure and I have enjoyed it
Excellent adventure a must to visit
Amazing park , near from city dar es salaam, I was today with my clients and we saw lioness killing red buck and lots of other animals excellent park...They travel with my company Travel To Tanzania SIA Welcome all.
That was amazing, but we couldnt see lion and leopard cause it was so hot, they didnt show up. But I loved that park. Everybody has to go there
The Night Game Drive was the most adventurous experience I had .
