Though still small, its a reliable hospital due to the competent doctors and nurses available, referrals of cases that cannot be handled are done to Geita hospital immediately. This hospital has an ambulance that facilitates transportation of patients to Geita hospital. There is a maternity ward that serves the locals despite its small holding capacity. Minor child birth operations are carried out by the doctors , complicated cases are also referred.The major draw back in the hospitals settings is the lack of an operational proper waste disposal system. For instance, placentas produced during or after child delivery are thrown right on the adjacent open ground close to the maternity ward, this poses a great environmental threat to the people who live around this place including the patients and the medical crew. A positive measure needs be taken in order to establish and set a fully functional incinerator which will be ideal for combustion of placentas, used bandages and swabs including other hospital wastes.Other parts of the hospital are clean, there is an ample parking place , HIV testing tents are adequate and properly equipped with competent medics and counselors.Drugs and medicines prescribed to patients are mostly available in the hospitals pharmacy , those not available are bought elsewhere by the patients.Doctors nurses and other medical and subordinate staff are available on a twenty four hour basis throughout the week .
