I stayed here for 3 weeks and it was such an amazing time. The atmosphere that this amazing team is creating with their lovely, helpful and personal way of doing their work is absolutely fantastic. The food is very good and also the drinks are very nice. The whole hostel area is very beautiful, clean and peaceful place.There are a lot of comfortable places to relax and also things like kite surfing, diving, beach volleyball and yoga.All in all a perfect place for anamazing time and great people

Sure this place is beautiful .. but beware, the pool is dirty and always filled with children of people who do not staying in this hotel. the staff is very slow and speaks Swahili in front of you laughing, the least you can do is translate into English for politeness. It is the only hotel on the whole island where we were received like that. We waited more than one hour for our check in and not even a juice for the wait. The manager did not even say hello to us during our entire stay and of course no smile. I do not recommend this place. I advise you on the other hand casa beach hotel which is much more welcoming and right next door.

The classic hideout at Zanzibar.This is the place where you want to start your trip on the Island as it is hard to compete with.As a return traveller the consistency of teddy’s concept and what delivers is a big catch. Communication was flawless, emails and enquirers answered right away in details, special requests and services always attendant with a great extra mile!Staying in the dorm exceeded expectations in terms of comfort, space and serenity. Clean bedsheets daily and a pleasant air circulation due to the good quality vast room structure.The food in here in the signature of the place, immaculate freshness with a lot of focus on menu diversity.The in-house pool got fresh and clean water, well maintained and ideal for a dip when the tide is off.The place is beachfront well centered in Jambiani with an easy access around.The staff in teddy’s is among the finest, a well build and established team who shaped the place in what it is nowadays. Great efficiency and attention to details.The kind of place where staff gets things gets done discreetly with a chilled front line impression, that hides lots of work in the background.To summarize, i think it is fair to say that Once you goes Teddy’s, you never go back :)

WHAT WE LIKEDWe spent 3 nights in the hotel, overall its a nice place :- Good location on the beach and near by kite surfing schools- Wide garden with amazing view on the beach- Swimming pool is great- Beach towels at disposal- Friendly staff- Food is okay- Rooms are okay and clean- Hotel organizes taxi and activities (we recommend the Swahili cooking class)WHAT WE DIDN’T LIKEWe spent 2 nights in a first room, then switched to another one. For only a few dollars more there is a huge difference of quality.In the first room we had awful nights, no peaceful sleep at all :- Sheet-metal roof, no isolating at all. The area gets extremely noisy during the night (crows, prier from the mosque, people yelling on the street, cars...) We woke up many times each night...- Outdoor bathroom with uneven water pressure in the shower, sometimes barely no water.- the second room was much better! sound proofing, a normal bathroom, with no water issue. The room had more windows and way more light.So your experience in this hotel really depends on the room you get!In both of the rooms :- Very uncomfortable mattress, waking up every morning with awful back pain.- No WiFi in the rooms, only around the reception.- No drinkable water at disposal. If you want water you need to ask a glass at the reception (2000TZS)

New Teddys was our first taste of Zanzibar and it captured the essence of this incredible island beautifully - genuinely warm, absolutely stunning, and delicious food. Its no surprise Teddys received Tanzanias #1 Hostel award again this year, as it truly takes the category to a new level! Great mix of room and bed options ranging from shared everything to private, ensuite, self-contained. Great food and menu variety, free wifi, and gorgeous grounds to relax in. Its a childrens paradise, with shallow-end pool, tree-house, plenty of swings and hammocks, slack line and volleyball net. The bar and staff are awesome, with daily drink and food specials that spice things up and let you know someone actually cares! Thats all we really want, isnt it?? Cant recommend New Teddys enough - it will make sure your first taste isnt your last!

This is by far my favorite beach place in Zanzibar. The staff, in the owner’s image, are extremely helpful and chill. I went for a yoga retreat and was blown away by the service. And what about that marvelous food, wow! Even if you are staying somewhere else in Jambiani, I suggest you go to New Teddy’s for lunch and a dip in their pool.

Class place. Even if you dont stay there go down for a drink and some food. The location on the beach is next level. I spent a few hours here having cocktails and some food and using their pool which they kindly let me. If Id know about it before I was in paje i wouldve stayed here.

We stayed for 1 week in this beautiful place and it was awesome!The rooms are clean and, most important, full of love.Leonies staff made us feel welcome and like part of the family.My daughter could run around, jump in the pool and everyone was so lovely with here!The food is amazing and one of the most delicious places here in Jambiani.We still love to go there to eat and usr the pool.Asante sana for your love and passion!You guys are great

New Teddy’s offers great beach vibes, phenomenal food, top in class service and a magnificent location for humane prices.New Teddy’s have several rooms (beach huts) and backpacker dorms. The rooms are simple, have clean bathrooms, convertible plugs, a fan, no AC.The rooms are situated behind the pool area and restaurant. In front of the property is a generous area of beach chairs, palms and mattresses with lots of instagrammable spots with the blue ocean in the back.Really outstanding was the service personnel and great attention to detail. It’s like a family caring for the guests. The chef is amazing (the tuna tower salad had one of the best tuna steaks I ever ate). The menu card has lots of fantastic but affordable options.There is a changing program everyday: Beach volleyball, drum sessions, pool party with live music, and more. Kite and dive schools are close by.As we stayed at New Teddy’s over Christmas, we enjoyed a delicious 5-course menu. The whole evening was magical. If you plan to stay at New Teddy’s, make sure you rather spend a few nights more, you won’t regret it 🙌☺️.

New Teddys on the Beach - a place full of heart people, where the soul flies! And my home for nearly 2 months....My heart is bubbling and my thoughts are doing somersaults. Where should I start? At the resorts gorgeous location on Zanzibars east coast, with its white powder beach, turquoise warm ocean, perfect for my long morning swims?My feel-good bungalows, large or small, cozy and sparkling clean with lovely floral decorations by the meticulous housekeeping, the delightful mix of guests with the party hipsters from the two dorms, the young families happy by the pool and the hippie travelers with exciting stories in the restaurant lounge?Or was it the sensational food, that delicious blend of European-Swahili fusion cuisine with a daily changing menu and delicious spicy combos at really fair prices? They managed to keep me happy as a gluten-free vegetarian and hygiene was always reliable as well.My soul starts to fly,... when I get out of bed in the morning and am greeted so lovingly by Nuru, Catherine, Juma, Ali, Dido, Amos - the whole bar crew, while I wiggle to the sea with my first coffee.... starting the day with an inspiring yoga session in the morning in the new Shala directly at the sea, e.g. with Bo, a top-class, renowned yoga teacher from Botswana.... when I do my Morning Swim along the coast and cant get enough of the beauty of Jambiani....when, after a healthy tropical breakfast, I swing in one of the numerous hammocks or sunbeds under coconut palms while sipping my freshly made ginger lemon juice.... when a song like Zaidi na Zaidi by the Zanzibari band Baqabo plays in the background and so much joie de vivre spills over.... when I look at this insane, overwhelming blue ocean, which brings a lot of peace... when I meet these proud, dignified people in Jambiani Village, e.g. Haji from the tailor Sisi, who touch my heart.Came to stay. Your credo. How true. Ultimately, everything stands and falls with the people ... who are there, authentic and genuine. With open eyes and a lot of feeling. With passion and interest. With LOVE. This is what manager Leonie lives and what everyone lives with her. Because they want everyone to feel good. That it is a nice togetherness. At eye level. With respect. And appreciation. Tupo Pamoja - We are all together.That is palpable. In the heart and in the soul.THANK YOU. I will come again!

Towels and sheets were pretty dirty and a showerhead didnt work...

Nice place for chilling. Sunbeds. Wi-fi. But it is really dangerous to go for swimming when it is a fulwater. Because when u wanna go out from the ocean waves are strong and can beat you of rocks. There are a lot of huge rocks on this beach. Food was so-so. Fish soup was with very taft octopus. Garlic bread was without garlic. When we asked for garlic the staff was not friendly. Chicken was not delicious.

Wonderful place for chilling and enjoying, what make you more confitable the view and beach service is super nice 👌 from the staff .I stay for night and I had Wonderful memories for celebrating 🍾 of my birthday 🎂 without forgetting Nuru for extreme service she provide to as thank you to all team.

Teddys on the beach is one of the best hostel I have stayed at. The location and facilities are absolutely beautiful. The staff are also amazing and super friendly. Loved the sand in the dorm room concept as well. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Loved this place. It feels like paradies to me. The pool with the ocean view is just stunning and the hostel itself has so many spots to hang out. The staff is friendly and helpful, they can give you the best recommendations for activities in Zanzibar. Food is nice and affordable and you will just never want to leave.

Definitely my favorite spot on the island!We booked the double room with sea view over Christmas and had such an amazing time at New Teddy‘s on the Beach. The room was spacious and good value for the price you pay (daily room service, towels, mosquito spray,...). As it’s very close to nature, we found some spiders around the room, but that didn’t bother us.The whole property is just amazing. The vibe, the staff, the facilities, the beach, the design, we really didn’t want to leave. I especially want to highlight the vibe and staff. Everyone‘s so friendly and chilled, they even organized a Christmas dinner on the 24th and put so much effort in so that the guests had a nice Christmas Eve. They offered a five course menu for ~20$ and it really exceeded our expectations. The food in general was sooooo good, if you get the chance, try the tuna tower salad - for sure the best dish I had in Zanzibar (probably the best food I’ve ever had, no joke). The cocktails are very cheap and taste ok, but again, the food is just amazing. Breakfast is included - a fresh juice and a plate of fruit with either an omelette or pancakes. You could also „upgrade“ to something else like avocado toast, etc. (but pay extra). Big fan of that concept!They organize trips and play volleyball every night. The pool is a plus for me as there’s quite a lot of seaweed on the beach and in the ocean, so it was nice to cool down in the pool. There are also kite schools around.Another plus for me was their environmental consciousness. You pay 2,000 TZS per day to use their water dispenser, so they avoid selling tons of plastic bottles.In short: it’s a fantastic place, my favorite spot on Zanzibar and I can only recommend to stay at New Teddy‘s on the Beach!!

Completly in love with this place. We were there for the second time and this time we came for 2 weeks. We had a double room with an outside shower which was awesome. The room was very well cleaned everyday. The restaurant is good but the food can take some time especially when it gets busy for Lunch or dinner. The staff is always happy and friendly. We will definetly come back again. We just love the place and Jambiani. It is the best place to be in Zanzibar.

Best hostel Ive ever stayed in! Stayed for 9 days, and wish I could have stayed for 9 more. Staff are genuinely nice. The menu is so packed with amazing dishes that it would take you a week to get thru the best ones. The curry, cantonese seefood rice and the tuna salad are all musts. Theyre also really good at juices and drinks here.also theres a lot of solo travellers stopping by here, so every night was social and funif you stay in the dorms, you can have a great experience for a good price. Also jambiani in general is more relaxed than paje. Just visit teddys alright, youll love it.

Really nice place with great facilities. Beach views and staff were super attentive. Dorms were comfy and well kept. Although 12 man dorms only had one key which was a slight issue and the social/atomsphere within the establishment was very sedated. Basically nothing organised for the evenings.

Amazing location!! Right on the beach with a beautiful pool - very clean and the food was incredible. Jambiani itself is the perfect place to relax as most of the parties and nightlife happen up the road in Paje (10 min drive). Don’t forget to get cash before you visit ! There is only one atm machine on the East side of Zanzibar and it usually doesn’t work so it’s best to take out cash in stone town. Accommodation can be paid for with credit card but all food and drinks must be paid in cash.

This place is great. Its like being in a resort, but you pay as an hostel. They have a nice bar (the only in jambiani apparently since people come from other places here to hang out in the evening), the cook is amazing and everyday you have different specials that are all delicious. You have direct access to the beach, a pool, they also arrange tours for you. Basically once you get into New Teddys you dont need anything from outside. Great value for money. There are however a few things that are annoying: the bar keeps playing music until late, there is just one key for a 12-bed dorm, which means you keep going back and forth to take the key from the reception, there arent lockers.

Most probably the best hostel i’ve ever stayed at. Can’t get any better. The views from everywhere are breath taking, the staff is so kind and funny and the food is amazing (with vegan options). Wifi, surprisingly, works perfect. Can’t think of a reason why you wouldn’t stay here.

This must be the best low cost accommodation in Jambiani - and it is right at the beach. As a bonus it has a large swimming pool. I had lunch there, loved the vegetable samoosas and the divine seafood pasta and enjoyed the super friendly service. Great place to hang out. Will go back for more.

The service doesnt work. you wait for the order for 2 hours. waiters do not serve even after being reminded. instant coffee was brewed for an hour..

I just came back from the Paradise called Jambiani to the Earth 5 days ago! :(((( Me and my friends stayed at this stunning beach on Zanzibar and decided to drop by and see this Teddys place to have a breakfast there...(our local guide recommended)...We had the best and most delicious breakfast on the island during our 14 days trip and toooootally got captured by the vibe of this place...Once u enter Teddys all your troubles will be gone and if u keep coming back you will come back home a decade younger...you have this feeling you can do anything but you also dont have to do ZERO. Whoever u meet will treat you like a family, from the guys in the bar to the guests in the place to the random people by the pool and in the chill area...Ohh...chill area! Story for itself! Beds covered with summer breeze, hammocks...great pool and the vibe that is more than a limited number of characters in the review....I will just say, my group decided to spend our last hours on Zanzibar chilling at TEDDYS ...We were even so lucky one of the staff members was celebrating bday so we said goodbye dancing JERUSALEMA....And in the end..my last picture on the trip was ust under the entrance of TEDDYS - Which reminds you of the greatest and the most important life lesson - LIFE IS NOW.

Everything you look for in Zanzibar - idyllic hostel with endless picturesque hang out spots, great food, big pool, directly on the beach, hot water, good WiFi and amazing staff! Highly recommend!

It is a very beautiful place and it is also a great place to relax the mind, do various fun parties with family and friends the quiet place is not disturbing the beautiful scenery of the sea and beaches.

Don’t come here because eventually you will have to leave. It is better to live a life and not know than come and realize you cannot stay forever.

Nice hotel from the outside, however when you are in the room it is less so!No wifi in the rooms if you want to use the air conditioning well its paying!Average bathroom...For breakfast, it will be 2 eggs, half a slice of bread, a pancake and 2 pieces of fruit that you cant choose and everything comes on the same plate! Not the egg yolks running down your fruit.I think the hotel is perfect for backpackers but when you pay 70 dollars by not negotiating its expensive for that... oh yes and youre knocked at the door 15 minutes before check out time frankly a little bloated!The pool is nice but not very clean...I will not come back for sure after 1 month spent in zanzibar it will have been the worst I have done fortunately that I only stayed there for one night!

Very clean, with a chill and relaxed atmosphere. the staff is just at the top, super welcoming and friendly! Very good food, fresh, homemade and fresh, for all tastes!I highly recommend this establishment! The New Teddy`s on the Beach is located in Jambiani as a hostel and with private rooms.The complex with pool, both very well maintained, is located directly on the beach and has direct access to the beach. The food is excellent. The service was very attentive and very kind. Excursions can be booked directly there.

All perfect !, the owner of the place welcomes you, very friendly, the staff unbeatable, they call you by your name, always willing to help you, the food is very good and the price is good, the shared bed is nice, they have one of the best beaches, very quiet, everything always clean, they will receive the room every day…. A highly recommended place !!!
