The best place to have a relaxed and adventurous Holiday in the Kilimanjaro region. Loved the location Amazing scenery..friendly staff.. We enjoyed our stay and hope to go back again.

Great scenery of the lake accompanied with peaceful environment

This place is amazing, very quiet and perfect for a romantic getaway.The view and scenery is absolutely stunning.The service and hospitality is impeccable.Kayaking is complementary and is a must do. Be sure to bring sun block.Hiking with a guide is also complementary and is very nice.As far as wildlife we saw a lot of blue monkeys and its a birdwatchers paradise. We were told that there were baboons on the compound but we failed to see them.There are 6 very stylish tents, which actually are small houses. All of them very private. You can sit completely undisturbed on your terrace.Theres good cellphone coverage.The dinner was good. We had higher expectations for the lunch though. It was a bit basic. Be sure you ask for the passion fruit ice-cream. Had we known it was so tasty we would have asked for it to all our meals. We paid 80.000tzs a person a day for our full board and in that price we feel that coffee, tea and water at the restaurant should have been complimentary. But we understand that you have a lot of expenses bringing supplies to the camp.Getting there is easy enough.It took 1½ in taxi from Moshi and we paid 60.000 tzs getting there and another 60.000 for being picked up.Then you need to pay an entry fee to the national park. That was 30$ for one person a day.The hotel was 500.000tzs for 2 persons for 2 days. Full board set us 340.000tzs back.In total it was1.230.000tzs for a weekend. We felt it was worth every penny. We would go there again.We hope the government will stop harassing the lodge regarding the ridiculous swimming ban. You can swim anyway as long as you dont tell anyone. You can also choose to accidentally slip on the stones which in fact are very slippery.We hope the government will stop harassing the lodge regarding the ridiculous national park entry fee. There wouldnt be a national park and there wouldnt be any tourist coming to the area had it not been for Lake Chala safari lodge. So basically the government is leeching on the lodge. The rangers could be put to better use by repairing the road. As it is now they do nothing but rob tourists.Thank you for a wonderful stay, Thomas. Positive: The staff are exceptional, the venue magical the food great. It was so peaceful, the accommodation was very comfortable.... wanted to stay longer.. Negative: I did not like leaving.

Super nice location. The lodge is great! If you want a nice escape from city noises and a great sleep in nature, this is the place to be! The hot water had some problems but after they fixed it it went great! Loved the place. Breakfast could be a bit more elaborated. Booked it through Nange Adventure. Great tour operator!

Not only were the people there very unfriendly, but you have to pay twice to be allowed to enter the Lakeside. First you have to pay an entry fee for the national park and inside you pay for a private investor who owns the land and collects his share. If you pay both you will be escorted the way down to the lake and watched over by a guide.

(2015) Beautiful location and view from the restaurant. We did a guided tour in the afternoon, bad mistake, too hot! Yes i will advice to go on a guided walk but please do it early in the morning!We had the location to ourselves (only guests) so very relaxed with a cool drink enjoying the beautiful view over lake Chala.(*=bad / **=reasonable / ***=nice / ****=almost perfect / *****=perfect)

My family & I have camped here three times now & for sure plan to return again. What we liked is that everything is provided: picnic tables, toilets, hot showers, and barbeque grills & cooking tables. The hill is an easy, fun climb and the lake is surprisingly refreshing despite how deep it is. The food can use some help but we have taken our own & just bought drinks there@ the restaurant. All in all a great family retreat!

Its a good for a weekend trip. Great experience. But you have to pay 2 times for the lake. One for the government bill another one will be for Lake chala safari lodge from the Tanzania side. Have very nice view.

Its definitely an awesome place with the beautiful scenery and calm there. The service of the lodge here could have been better. Its pretty good and affordable if one was to go for camping only. The lodge is overpriced in my opinion

Yeah i confirm, you pay twice one time for tz and one time for the lodge. Its a bit ridiculous, 275000 tsh for one night camping with 2 adults and 2 kids. But the place is beautiful and staff is nice as well.

Great campsite, great location with views over the lake. Pity about the high government park fees that needs to be paid although the lodge is located on private land.

Excellent campsite, but just too expensive for camping and at the rate of more than 20USD pppn doesnt make any sense at all and we decided to leave and stay in a hotel which was much cheaper

Extremely overpriced. There is constant confusion over the simplest issues with the staff. Pretty scenery as long youre looking east. Thats it. This is a better day trip than overnight trip.

Positiv: Die Lage ist nicht zu übertreffen. Von der Terrasse des Zeltes (außerordentlich komfortabel) sah man sowohl auf den Lake Chala und in den frühen Morgenstunden auch direkt auf den Kilimanjaro. Sehr freundliches Personal und bei allen Fragen sehr hilfsbereit. Frühstück und Abendessen lassen keine Wünsche offen. Kajaktour auf dem See und Wanderung kann man ohne weiter Kosten vor Ort buchen..

Positiv: Das Hotel hat wunderschöne Umgebung . Das Restaurant ist direkt oberhalb von See, mit traumhafter Ausblick. Aus Zimmer sieht man See und bei gutem Wetter auch Kilimanjaro. Das Hotel hat einen deutschen Manager, der uns sehr viel über Tansania erzählt. Eine Tour um See und zum Dry River ist inklusiv. Ebenso Kayaking. Letztendlich war es günstiger als ein organisierter Ausflug . Im Restaurant kostet ein hervorragendes Mittagessen max.7USD. Abend wird ein 3- Gänge Menü für 20USD serviert. Man fühlt sich da wie im Paradies.. Negativ: Alles war perfekt..
