One of the best restaurants at Sewa Street (Temple Road).Staffs are very cooperative apart from purely vegetarian food they also help to provide fasting food without salt like Sabudana Vada without Salt, French Fries without Salt, Dahi, Coconut Chutney without Salt, etc. They also provide Eggless Cake order for Birthdays and other events. For snacks and south Indian dishes everyday you can eat different dishes and it will take atleast 6 months to complete their Menu. They also have Chowpaty Special dishes made from their trained Chefs which you can must try their.
I had my late lunch at 3pm but the restaurant was still busy. The leftover in photo was what I did not really enjoy its tastes. I finished the rice and 2 chapati (Indian flat rounded-bread)with delicious beans-mixture/sauce/paste. The white one is yogurt and on its left was hot chili sauce (can compare with Thais spicy). Must come place for vegan.
Stayed less than 24h in Dar and came to eat here twice - for lunch and dinner. As a European I may not be the best judge on the quality of food but it was very good for my taste, large portions, no belly issues after. As the name speaks for itself - only vegetarian, but you will certainly not miss the meat. Polite owners, enquired if everything was all right with my meal.
I love the street this restaurant is located on, its very charming and quaint. This was my first time eating Indian food and my expectations were high. The food was delicious, fresh and flavorful. It has taken me a long time to try Indian food because I dont like hot spicy food. Ive always heard people say it was spicy. I was grateful that Chowpatty had a less spicy option of their dishes for me to try.I loved the food but the service was a bit underwhelming. I came in with a party of 3 people, including myself. Upon entering 2 of us sat down and one walked away to the washroom. However, the waitress only brought 1 menu and placed it in front of the person who was not sitting there. Service wise that doesnt make sense. Instead, the waitress should have placed in front of the people who are waiting. Ive over 20 years customer service experience and worked with JD Powers and Associates award winning companies. My standards of service are high. Please consider some training.
Would not recommend for a family dinner as the service is very poor because they don’t know how to manage a group consisting more than 5 people. And the staff, including the manager is very rude and impolite. The entire restaurant was loud and noisy yet the manager came to us and told us to keep our volume low (as if the whole place was not louder than the fish market🙄 itself) Their food taste too has drastically dropped after earning that popularity among the vegetarian options.Lastly, the washrooms didn’t have water services and hygiene level was zero.
Blend of authentic Vegetarian South Indian cuisine with foods from North and Gujarat. An array of irresistible gourmet to satisfy all palates
Fantastic address for quality vegetarian Alternative. Very yummy paneer curries and great selection. The service and friendliness of staff adds a feeling of comfort and cant wait to go back. like all dine in its expensive in Dar Es Salaam but at least its worth it because makes u super happy ! Yummy!
Good hygiene & great Indian Food, take away & dine in both available.Avg meal costs TZS 15-20,000.
My boyfriend and I were happy with the food. Then we were thinking about to get some dessert, it was not a must, but we thought maybe we can try the Gulab Jamin for 3.000 tsh 2 pieces. They said they think its finished, but maybe they can get it. So they came and brought me 3 of them. I asked 3 not 2 for the same price 3.000 tsh, she said yes and nodded. Then when I received the bill it was 5.000 tsh for the dessert. I said that nobody told me that it will be 5.000 tsh instead of 3.000 tsh like mentioned in their menu, but they said its 3 and we got it from the other restaurant. I was really angry, because they should have informed me about that, but nobody did. And still after I complained and I didnt want to pay the 5.000 tsh, it was their fault to not inform the customer, but they made me pay nevertheless. A totally no go to make someone pay more then different from your menu and not mentioning it. The food is good, but the service was for me a no go. We wont come back for sure!!
One of the best Indian food Destination. Amazing taste a must visit place.
I ordered a few dishes for delivery via PIKI. I am so impressed with the food quality, the taste and the reasonable pricing! My family and I ate like royalty tonight and we couldn’t have been happier. We ordered Paneer Makhanwala, extra naans, thali and other stuff. It was placed properly into containers, arrived while still hot and just so well prepared.Thank you for an amazing meal tonight folks!
Nice ambienceGood and tasty Indian foodClean and friendly staffs
Food was too greasy for my taste. Fast service. Low cost
Its that Indian place everyone has been talking about. If youre new in town you gotta try the food here. Tasty...
The best Indian vegetarian food in Dar es Salaam. It will definitely give you an authentic taste. Every dish is made excatly how we get in India. Must visit if youre in Dar es Salaam.
Very noisy sometimes.Would appreciate soft music, candles.Seating arrangements needs to be checked.Staff are not attentive to customer needs. All the Waitress needs more training on how to maximize satisfaction of client.
Great food. 1 star less as the waiters and the cook do not listen to orders properly. If you ordered cheese masala dosa, you would get garlic dosa instead. At times they forget you had ordered something till you remind them. Otherwise great food and ambience
Dahi wada yummy pani puris water needs to be a bit tangy no taste at all environment clean and friendly good waiters
Good food quality plus ambiance.. staff also friendly.
Food here is absolutely authentic Indian style with a chaas at the end to make it more scrumptious and make you feel at home ,Cheers ,Santanu

Delicious thali, quick service, reasonable price, will definitely come back
Nice n fast but little high price
Best place for Authentic Indian Food
Worst food and very poor service, if you order, half of the things they forget and also it takes more than 2 or 3 hrs, though if it is close by. God qualities is getting worst day by day
Good vegetarian restaurant, central location, wide variety of dishes & amicable staff
A really poor service for delivery orders . Worst food and very poor service, if you place your order,it takes more than 1 to 2 hours
Best indian food I ever had in Dar es Salaam
Ok. Different taste as compared to other restaurants in Dar
Good Indian food, Reasonable rate, service is good you can get all Indian cuisines.
If you are looking for a meal in the Little Hindustan section of Dar es Salaam, Chowpatty seems to be the most popular restaurant in the area.
Had masala dosa today. I felt there wasnt enough of the filling as opposed to what I usually get at Chowpatty but it was still tasty. I often have dahi Puri which is awesome. They have thick and creamy sweet lassi and a great sweet lime soda too. A great vegetarian restaurant and the manager/owner always comes and asks how everything is, his dedication is fantastic and he takes feedback like a champ. Next time Ill try the thali, looked awesome, like a mini buffet!
Good place to eat Gujarati meals.
The food is nice, they have a good variety of Indian dishes. Its a pure vegetarian Restaurant. Ambiance could be much better. Its usually very loud as well.
Only vegetarian food. Portion size is good but not tasty. For South Indian dishes, the sambhar is bland and watery. Slow service. Wash room reasonably clean.
Food is good but, the time taken for receiving the meal is exhausting
Nothing as great such, frozen samosaas tasteless khichdi, frozen ready to drink chaas. If you go to Indian restaurant you expect fresh and hot foods thats what indians are known for.
Well enjoyed Indian food dosa
Nice Indian food and helpful staff
Very good Veg. Hotel in Town
Good vegetarian cuisine option available from noth,South,Chinese and fast food
I feel eats delicious food.marvelous service.thanks to the chowpatty team

Food is good 😋But service is too too worst
Nice Indian food center 👍
Well, It being outside India, this is one of the few places in the city where you can get authentic Indian food. The taste is not like a 100% Indian but its actually not bad. The food is over all tasty, the service is good. The staff is friendly. Had a good experience. Recommended.
Good quality of Indian food
Was pleasantly surprised... Food was good.
Fantastic knowledgeable service. Super fresh delicious food, reasonably priced but be prepared for a wait. Polite and educated staff. Definitely worth a meal for someone craving for good north Indian meal.
Very nice food excellent service 👌
Good Quality only vegetarian Indian food. Tasty food. Can enjoy with family and friends
One Of The Finest Indian Vegetarian Restaurants One Can Find In Dar Es Salaam is Chowpatty One Must Not Miss The Single Chance their service is dynamic and food quality is outstanding.
The Chowpatty thali is good value for money. However, the south indian thali could be significantly improved. All other items in the menu are great! The owner takes care to welcome new visitors and I saw that he welcomed repeat visitors or frequent customers as well. When there were non-Indians, he took the time to explain the options in the menu. Service is the best! This place is always full of people and so turnover is high. I know my food will always be cooked well.
I wish to visit this place again one day I have went here and I ordered fried rice.. Wow it was awesome taste and service also very NYC...Thanks to Chowpatty....
Morning Breakfast is super full value for money. Quality of food & Service is good. Diwali arrangement are great, sweets are nice. Best restaurant in temple Street.
LOVE ITWe went to the one in Nairobi, and loved it, we try the DAR and it was even better, we ate here our 2 nights in DAR.The chef special and the house recommended are delicious, and the manager and the staff is super helpful and change everything you need.Best veggie option in Dar
Nice Hospitality and Delicious food..specially I love Alu parantha (spicy messed potato stuffed Indian bread) with green chutney and curd.
Are you like Indian food?Chowpatty is only Answer in Dar es Salam.Verity, test ,Quality, Quantity, price, everything giving satisfaction.
Good vegetarian Food.Nice place, some staff are really good.Like Lassy, pavbaji a lot.
Finally tried the traditional Masala Dhosa. And also their pav bhaji that is an all time fav. Smooth, buttery and just perfect. Service was decent. I’m sure they can do alil renovation to the restaurant though to make it slightly more appealing. Other food and service are on point
Good place for Indian veg food in Dar es salaam.
