Good serviceI liked the ocean view and cool sea breeze especially during evening and morning.Price is affordable especially when crossing from kigamboni to Kivukoni, it costs less than 0.5$Taking pictures around here is not allowed especially in Ferry. So be careful because it has a penalty of 20$Welcome Tanzania.
A wonderful place always busy with people crossing between Magogoni and Kigamboni. If you want to get a clear view of the Dar es Salaam port this must be your destination of choice. While crossing the sea you will get a glimpse of the old buldings that will take you back to the early days of Dar es Salaam City. For those who have not gotten the experience of crossing the sea by means of a Ferry this must be your next destination as soon as you arrive at Dar. At Kigamboni Ferry Terminal you will get a chance to visit the famous Ferry Fish market.
Good services though sometimes arrangements of ferries should be systematical seted so as to facilitate to reducing bureaucracy and congestion especially morning and evenings.. As they can push all ferries at morning also put in charge all vessels at evening too due to lots of crowd of people in those time
Its a good terminal which can accomodate large number of passangers before the arrival of the transport. It works 24/7 that aids people to cross from kigamboni to city municipal at anytime while highly protected and secured within the terminal.
There a big difference in what I previously used to experience across different terminals. Theres a great improvement in terms of service and timeliness. Its remarkable 👏
It is huge place despite going there to travel you can also go there to shopping cause there is many business around there like supermarkets, matress shops, fish seller, vegetables market, beauro de change, clothes & shoes shops E.t.c
The place is wonderful inspite of minor flaws
Great experience good coordination and very fast moving ferry in Dar
Kivukoni meaning A crossing from a to b in the Kiswahili language is one of Ilala districts wards in the coastal city of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. The area is most notable for its vibrant and largest fresh fish markets at The Mzizima Fish Market and The Kivukoni FishMarket run under the supervision of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries of Tanzania located near the ferry terminal of Kigamboni and further ferries to the island of Zanzibar. The Kigamboni ferry terminal offers punctual ferry services to and from Dar es Salaam to the Kigamboni district via several ferry vessels under the supervision of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication of Tanzania.
Super cool to be there enjoying the see view
Somehow good though its too hot
Suitable environment to ferry across from kigamboni to postal area at ilala
Somebody should tech them time management esp in the morning hours 😠To make matters worse this new card based payment system it is the worst😡🤬
Very populated but deliver its service fast with N-card
Long time waiting in the queue. Advise to take the bridge
Kigamboni Ferry TerminalOne of the busy place in Dar es salaamIts among the terminals in Dar that one has to meet different kind of people after every 10 to 15 minutes maximum.Passing over the ferry to Kigamboni from City center, the area has alot economic zone.1. Fish Market, Where all fish from Indian ocean which can be found by the fishermen are first found there.2. All culture and oceanic ornaments can be found at the second part of the market3. There are two bus terminals both are public transportation but one controled by government and the other is for local owners.4. This area is not far from the white house (IKULU)5. This area is just meters away from the BANK OF TANZANIA (B. O. T)6. It is also a walking distance to one among the big hotels in town, (Hyatt Regency Kilimanjaro Hotel)
The place is good! Services are qualified
The place was amaizing.... I wish to come back again soon. The sight of Indian ocean seeing beautiful sky at the sunset i like it....
Needs extension and enough fans inside but very cool place and friendly for everyone.
It was okay but they are not maintaining the area
A bit of nuisance in terms of ticket scanning machinesother wise its all good
I agree the kigamboni are looking good, have a good environment for attracting person
Congestion is the problem thus there should be an alternative way to reduce it
Its too congested need to expand the terminal
A beautifully 😍 place to see and visit, enjoying 😉😀 and refreshing 😊
Crowded during peak hours (7am-10am & 4pm-8pm). If you plan to cross with your car, make sure you have time to burn waiting for the ferry during these hours as sometimes they will take less cars to accommodate the huge number of people.
Better view at night its fabulous place
Heavy rush during morning and evening. Photography is strictly baned. Its not crowded by tourists but only by the locals. You ll get a nice view of dar from the other side of the ferry.
Its so Cool
Improved services compared to previous years, but this place needs restructuring to improve transit time... on a good day it takes 20 minutes to get across and some days 2 hours... the system needs strengthening, theres a need for more professional staff, widening the exit and entrance decks and roads, adding some more Ferry boats... etc
Good service but windows for giving tickets should be added to avoid / reduce the queque
Very comfortable and nice place
One of the most important station to the Dar es Salaam city dwellers. Supervisors here need to be more organized and considerate of the people to reduce the queues and long waiting of the pontoon boats to ferry them between the two sides. One can waste 20 minutes just because someone didnt organise the movement well.
Rode the ferry. It was okay. Nothing to complain about
Very interesting place
Local trade for veggies and sea products
Is a linkage between two separate mainland parts.Services is publicly provided by government officials and well administeredServices are 24/7 available for transportation of civilians cars and cargo..Transfer fee mostly controlled by SUMATRA.no critical accidental record or criminal attempt during servicing.
The Best and easiest mean to get to kigamboni
Its a government owned property to easy the movement of people and cars from dar to kigamboni they have two ships owned by the government and its cheap to use they are public orianted and it offers an orpotunity for a great ocean view it has a big ship that can ferry up to 20 cars and more than 500 people though it has no safety regulations
Connects kigamboni with city centre, three ferries on duty all day long but at night only one operates, and services are 24/7 for cars and also for people who do not own any sort of vehicle, using the ferry will save you time and cost as they other way to get to town is so far away, therefore this is one hell of a good option to go with
You get 2 enjoy the ocean view but its always super crowded.......there are lots of fish sold very cheap and also there are lots of stuffs in very unbelievably cheap prices
The area is absolutely good for all people also cares most about the emergency when there is any emergency can be fast fixed also there are television which teaches on how to handle the emergency when it occurs actually there are good communication system that help to simplify things crealy so it is easy to earn You need and all things are systematic there
I really like this place Ferry warm air, good surroundings there is a fish market place beside the place, a place. where people can work too to earn daily money, i actually love this place its very supportive almost for everyone around
Have been using these ferries since 2000s when i was in primary..seeing young primary kids right now on the ferries always bring best memoriesThe transport is better these days and there is more adherence to the safety rules which is good
Very busy place with lot of machingas around the road, I gave three Stars due to poor transportation from the ferry boat to the stands were there few busses which make people to fight for one when it arrives.
Its a fun experience to go back and forth on the ferry, however overtime it can get quite annoying as ferries do break down and lineups are long and overcrowded. Be sure to get to the front of the ferry if you want to get out quickly.
This place is just awesome since its just close to state house, also its just close to the city no need of getting abus if you want to go to Zanzibar since its just a matter of walking. And also if you are by the ferry you are able to see big sheep sailing to or from the pot.lastly you can visit a big international fish market whereby you can buy kinds of fish you want as well as fish shells and so on,while at the ferry terminal
1. Wide waiting post.2. Tv instructions rescue ( how to use life jackets)3. Instructional guide ( audio)4. Ample car waiting area (by noon). ( though with long car queue by evenings)
🍻
The place in now activated to modern-machine ticketing and whenever the machines fail, they use othermeans without delaying time, the new panton placed is so helpful (MV KAZI) As it have high speed than the other, also i like how people are busy and hurry with their own day to day activities

Very nice place for buying fish, Dar City View.. But you shouldnt be in rush as the Ferry sometimes take up to 30mins waiting time to cross.
Large number of people cross between two points at time, its taking nearly half an hour gap to cross between two ferries.
A lot of kind of fish from the ocean. Also some other business are taking place over there...
I love the tour, crossing the ocean to Kigamboni island, the off shower winds on the beach, the presence of the fish market that give a chance to see my types of fish from the ocean, I enjoyed the heavy cargo ships,
Its a nice experience as you get to cross the sea on your way to kigamboni in company of the soft breeze rubbing through your face and with a breath taking scenary,to bad it only takes 5-10min to experience it. The ferry may get really crowdy on peak hours during the week and on weekends.
I am yh Huy yy
The place got nice view🤩
This terminal is very significant and it has been playing a big role in offering water transportation in Tanzania, it enables citizens to cross the sea from posta to Kigamboni and from Kigamboni to Posta in a very cheap price 200/=shs only also small cars can be boarded in the pantone thus this Terminal is very important as it facilitates various activities to be carried out in Kigamboni.
Was busy, but Ok
Very congested and funny place, a chance to meet a lot people as its the only primary enty to and fro kigamboni
People handling it still a challenge. Though some effort done by TEMESA. But not efficiency enough.Waiting time its too high also. Security people thay should have customer care habit.I congratulate them for insist security safety in panton.
The 1918 influenza pandemic, sometimes called the Spanish Flu pandemic, is the most severe pandemic in recent history. An estimated 500 million people – or one-third of the world’s population – became infected and the number of deaths was estimated to be at least 50 million worldwide with roughly 675,000 in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The estimated population of the United States on 1 July 1918 was some 103 million, so approximately 0.6 percent of the US population died as a result of the epidemic. As for this year’s flu season, it was historically long, but not as deadly as past seasons.
Ferry crossing found at the city centre, price is 200/= Tanzanian shillings to cross to the beautiful Kigamboni area. Its highly coordinated, safe though crowded and works 24/7 slight delays when ships are crossing or during the Night.
Congestion while crossing the ferry
Waiting time is long ...and the scanning process they arent accurate sometimes working sometimes not .........photographs arent allowed to be taken from the area....
Its ok, but it will be more better if they introduce smart cards in order to avoid congestion and save time wasted on paper tickets
The ferry in Dar es salaam where people from two sides of the city used to shift from one anotherOne side of the city is CBD thats Kivukoni and Posta while the other one is Kigamboni where do people liveThe ferry charges about 200/= Tsh. as a fare for any matured person but student is free of charge if will have his/her school uniformCars are charged 2000/= Tsh.
I have given 4 stars not because this place is attractive or beautiful. It is rather one of the few places in Dar es Salaam where you can catch a glimpse of the people of Tanzania. I mean at such a small area you can sample people of different classes, cultures, backgrounds, age groups and all the social-cultural aspects a population of a country seem to posses. Infact, to get a better perspective you ought to experience the crowd that waits to board the ferry as well as those disembarking from the arriving ferry. It is such an amazing experience.Otherwise, the ferry facilities are very poor to say the least. The toilets are poorly maintained; and because of the crowd (especially during rush hours - morning and late evening) the waiting area can be extremely crowded, humid and hot. Limited seating areas are available and are made of concrete slabs. There are also limited number of ticket selling points which leads to long queues and shoving and pushing during rush hour. You need to be very careful when boarding most especially when the tide is low as the landing block is slippery (i have witnessed people slipping and falling several times). As far as health and safety is concerned this place would rather score only 1 star, so it is up to individual soul to watch out and be careful. And this takes me to another point..pick pockets..though it is not a common occurrence of pick-pocketing incidents but there have been several cases of theft. Personally, i have had an experience where a woman ran off with my change that fell down after the ticketing attendant accidentally dropped my money on the floor. If you are disembarking rest assured you can get transport to wherever you are going. You could either catch a taxi, public buses and mini-buses, three-wheeled (popularly known as Bajajis) or even two-wheeled motorcycles (boda boda). If you want to enjoy the sight of Kigamboni while catching a fresh breeze from the ocean then Bajajis is definitely a choice to go for.
Poor transportation/ferry services. Needs a lot of improvements. A lot of unnecessary announcments and also, the speed of passenger ferry is gery slow. You might be waiting for 45 to 60 minutes if you see the only one ferry which carries pax has just left and you are left in a small hall with poor and inadequate number of benches for the time that it takes to board the ferry. The ticketi g system has improved a bit by addition of two more sellpoints, at which points is more like a TZS200/- collection point and if you are not lucky enough to have a coin then your rejected to buy the ticket.. at times it rains the condition is just pathetic for the poor pax. I have not even described the conditions for motorists ... still... for easy access to city kivukoni ferry is the shortest distance
Its a nice area with cheap water transport services and the place is really enjoyable with the Ocean winds, it feels like Paradise... Its Awesome...!!!
Its a busy place from morning to evening..its a place for people who want to cross from dar es salaam to Kigamboni its just a short jouney of about 3-5 minutes. there are three ferries which are Mv kigamboni, Mv magogoni and Mv Kazi which is the newest ferry of all..they help to assist people cross to the others side, its very helpful as it ease people movement and help business people to run trade faster as the route is short.. people, cars , bicycles, motorcycles, all can cross through the ferry as its able to carry all these transport facilities. also it has disabled services which makes them travel easily too.
New more Ferris are needed since the old one are worn out, sometime people delays job since two ferris are being used and one of them is old enough taking long from one shore to another, basically the government should buy new ferris before the one in use spoil beyond recovery since they only stop for line an hour before they resume morning services till late
Nice busy place. People in a hurry going places. But one can get groceries as vegetables. I liked that convenience.
Ferry services for people crossing Kigamboni - Magogoni to and fromCurrently there are three ferries: MV Kazi, MV Magogoni and MV KigamboniIn case of break down of one the above ferries Marine soldiers use their ferry to provide services to citizensThe price for people is TZS 200 but it could change after sometimes. Vehicles have various prices depend on size
I used a long time waiting 4 panton, about 20 minutes
