TFDA is responsible for regulating safety, quality and effectiveness of food, medicines, cosmetics, medical devices and diagnostics. TFDA main responsibility is stated in the Health policy, 2007 and its mandate is stipulated in the Tanzania food, drugs and cosmetics act (TFDCA) cap. 219. The act provides for the efficient and comprehensive Regulation and control of safety and quality of food, medicines, cosmetics, medical devices and diagnostics in Tanzania mainland.

The name is changed to TMDA they are not dealing with food any more but dealing with medicines

The staff are welcoming and if assistance. Offices are easy to reach. The only big issue is parking space. The offices has very limited parkinv spaces for visitors.

Its located not too far from a bus stand called external.I struggled finding routes to reach there.The best route would be taking a DART bus to ubungo maji and then use a 2 wheeler or get a daladala instead.
