Paid for Business class. All we got was first dibs at seats before economy starts storming in. Basically just the same as economy. Not worth the extra cost. Better pay more for VIP if in budget range for a better experience. Hope this helps someone out there.

Great private fast-ferry company connecting Zanzibar island wiht Dar Es Salaam in about 1h20min. Downsides are delays in departure, waiting room for boarding into thr ferry is not clean at all, and while travelling on days with rough weather, things inside the passenger cabins are getting out of control(lots of yelling).

I used the ferry in January and must say it was a good way to get Zanzibar island.I would recommend it to tourists.

Horrible place and service. Only went there because online booking was down for days. Super packed, no social distancing at all. At the VIP/Royal booth it took 1 hour to queue because of some organisational problem just to find out at the end that all tickets were sold out. Incompetent and unfriendly.If the service on the ferry is on the same level, then better fly to Dar es Salaam—that’s what i do now. Almost same price and more „VIP“.

Nice booking experience. Staff is helpful.Ferry is pretty clean and fast . Better to book morning ferries as the sea/ocean is less violent . afternoon time due to waves the ferry is not comfortable to some people with sea sickness and they can vomit or can faint

The ferry is a quick ride. VIP services are far superior, with a pleasant waiting area and clean restrooms. Unlike the economy class, Not a good experience.

More expensive than Zanfast for more or less the same service, locals are charged cheaper than foreigners which is somewhat unfair. Smooth ride very good quality ships truely an experience by itself

Fast.. Go in early to book, ensure you have correct documents, Passports for foreigners, National ID, DL, for locals.. Valid visa, residence permit for lesser charges..Very helpful staff.

It can be overwhelming and hectic in the front with all the people. My bolt driver instructed a man to help with my bags and honestly I could have done this myself. They want you to pay them and theyre not cheap. This guy asked for 14000 tsz, what he did wasnt rocket science. The ferry it self was smooth sailing didnt get sea sick. Honestly to me there isnt a huge difference in economy and business, other than they play movies and the seats have more leg room there are two economy styles the one outside where the seats are what you expect for economy then theres economy inside which looks similar to business class. Also I didnt need to buy my tickets the day before, was able to buy the day off. Be weary about people who try to sell you tickets for the ferry and it happens to be for a different company thats a bit on the low side.

The ferry gets you from A to B at a good price and relatively fast but you definitely need to know how things work for a nice experience. It is hectic and chaotic getting on and off the ferry. The porters are helpful and friendly in the beginning only to ask you very aggressively for rediculous tips afterwards. The staff of the ferry itself are very unfriendly. Buying a ticket does not guarantee you of a seat so be on early!

If you are a tourist, pay more and take a flight. This almost ruined our trip.Every single person will try to bribe you, everyone is out to make a quick buck, a lot of yelling etc. Trust me, it will save years off your life.

Enjoyed that boat ride it’s amazing, there a bit of a hassle getting on the boat if you’re not used to the ports, otherwise great experience 👍🏽

The staffs are not following any covid protocol in the ferry. None of them wear the Mask. At least they should talk less considering the safety of the passengers. Really unfortunate

Go into THE MAIN BUILDING, there are agents standing outside wearing azzam t-shirts and they tell u they work there and take u to the agents office to book from there which is more expensive. Ignore them completely and go into the MAIN BUILDING bcoz we got scammed by them. Also, in the ferry itself, we were simply treated like cattle! U book a ticket and pay but u dont find a seat.. staff not friendly, everyone staring at u... very bad experience actually, both in going and in returning!!!

Book Office Is OK. Lounge for Royal class - funny. Seats are comfortable and ok, but.. drink only 1 small for person. All staff need money for help in my case it was only 36000 TZD 🙄

No point of paying business class while the crew will pack the all seats with people from economy class ...is not fair and crew checked people ticket and still let them seat where they didnt pay for sad😧😧

The Azam ferries which have the Kilimanjaro Branding which take 2 and half hours from Dsm to Zanzibar. They have economy, first class and VIP class which isnt too expensive and comfortable.

It used to be great but then they removed the lobby. Its now only an office for buying tickets. So wheres the waiting room?You have to wait outside till one hour prior to departure to get in the waiting room in the port. This is so annoying and really bad. I dont even know why I gave this a 2. It should probably be 0.2

The booking office was nice, although the foreigner price of $35 one way is pretty steep, but we enjoyed the trip. It would become really expensive if we had to take this trip more than once or twice. Keep in mind that this trip may be advertised by people as only an hour or half an hour long, but it’s typically 2+ hours.

Its easy booking here..usually its very crowded. If you are planning on buying a ticket try to go a little bit early so you dont end up rushing while on the long que. Having said that, this problem of long ques could easily be avoided if azam company produced a mobile app like zan fast ferries where you could buy and pay for your ticket with just your smart phone. Drop and pick up s sometimes is an issue as you might find many cars, and taxis and motorcycles. Theres also a public transport which is very reliable (DART). Its just walkable distance from the Azam Fast ferries booking office. Thank you

Luggage service was good, but they wanted way too much tips. Ticketing office service speed and accuracy could be much better. Azam ferry business class was maybe worse than being in economy... Moldy A/C did not make the trip very pleasant. At least the ferry was fast.

At Azam Marine Ferry the service is good, the first thing to remember before go for booking is make sure you have your ID (Passport, national ID, Voter ID and other official ID you have ) you may use it for taking booking.

Very nice office to purchase the tickets. One enjoys the climate controlled environment. The personnel is friendly and the do speak English. Payment is cash or card and purchasing the tickets went quckly. In prime season on busy days there may be a wait.

We arrived late (at the minute of the official departure time) and were right away overwhelmed with some guys pulling us different directions to get our tickets sorted out and to put us on the ferry - the ferry is waiting for you, guys!, they said. We didnt believe it of course, but let one of the guys to drag us to the ticket booth, with passports in our hands. Price for 2 tickets was said to be 70 USD, but since ee didnt have so much schillings or USD, we offered them 70€ EUR which they accepted. Got the tickets and the random guy directed us to the gate, and he didnt even seem to be interested in us paying him anything. From there we were advised to run and just get quickly to the ferry. Of course we were not the only ones that late.

The services were quick and easy. Enjoyed my first ride on an economy class with Azam ferry but it was crazy with the bouncy big waves. Did not take the sick bag so as to will myself from the constant urge to vomit. Had to mentally fight the same one my last trip but on a different class. Got to experience all three. Superb ferry

Very poor VIP class cabin service. We were ignored by the cabin crew they didnt even bothered asking us for refreshments. You dont get what you pay for.

Booked VIP but the screens which you can watch movie, play games etc. Wasnt working. They said they dont serve food because of ramadan but they still charged everything with the same price.

What an experience. BEWARE lots of taxi drivers and ticker workers will approach you at once. It is very overwhelming!! However, I just firmly said no, and went to the ticker booth myself and for what I needed. Luckily my hotel was not far, so I was able to walk from ferry (my bags were already at the hotel).The boat ride coming to Dar was really bumpy, causing me to get sea sick. Luckily for them, they had barf bags lol. 80% of the boat were sea sick.Returning was actually a lot better for me.... still other riders were sick.I recommend trying it.

Easy no much complication in having my Ticket. I didnt come with my original hard copy licence or passport but I just had the softcopy one.

Its super chaotic!! Theres a lot of harassment to get in and out the marine. On top of that, the service is terrible. The only pro is that the price is a fraction of an airplane ticket.

Considering the cost of VIP tickets there is essential little VIP treatment. Besides the comfortable seats and AC, thats it. The lounge is basic, the boarding and off boarding process is queued up with all others and offered refreshments are dismal. They need competition.

Good, but they didnt properly discount for East African passengers when tickets were reserved online. Economy class was great, actually more comfortable than business class, which had strong diesel exhaust smell and water dripping from the overhead air conditioning during choppy waters.

Once you get past the touts, you will find that this port is extremely efficient and organized. The AC on the boats gets really cold which is a nice relief from outside.

Letter i realized that Azam most of there employees are family members thats Y no one taking serious with there Jobs, so i decided to Have a look at other Ferry which Zanzibar Fast Ferries, there i booked my ticket all workers at there respective seat no talking fast fast got my ticket.

The ferry is good.But DONT let the people working there help you with the luggage, its a total scam! They just came to the taxi and took the bags to help us. Since they worked for the company we assumed a small tip for the help was enough, but no. They demanded 60.000 shilling, and was not happy when we didnt have enough cash. Complete scam and rip off. Stay away from them.Also, they dont accept card in the ticket office, only cash.
